YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Docs update
## What is the current behavior?
The branching docs don't mention that new branches are created without
default privileges on the `public` schema.
Linear: BRA-189
## What is the new behavior?
- Working with branches: new "Default privileges on branches" section
covering the keep-enabled path (initial migration grants) and the revoke
path (new migration).
- Troubleshooting: new entry for `42501` permission denied errors on a
new branch.
## Additional context
None.

## Summary by CodeRabbit
- **Documentation**
- Added troubleshooting guidance for permission-denied errors affecting
tables or functions on new branches.
- Explained how migrations can restore intended default privileges on
the `public` schema.
- Added workflows for retaining or revoking default privileges,
including dashboard configuration, migration-history repair, and
access-management steps.
- Added examples for granting or revoking access to sequences,
functions, and tables.

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Docs update.
## What is the new behavior?
The branching docs now state consistently that every branch, preview or
persistent, is created as a clone of the base project, starting with
that project's schema, Edge Functions, and configuration. Data and
storage objects are not cloned by default.
## Additional context
This documents new branch-creation behavior. Two automated reviewers
flagged the clone wording and argued for a migration-replay description;
that reflects the previous implementation, so their findings don't apply
here and the clone framing stands.

Update the description of preview branches to clarify that they are
automatically deleted when a PR is merged or closed.
<!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai
-->
## Summary by CodeRabbit
- **Documentation**
- Clarified that preview branches are temporary and automatically
deleted when a pull request is merged or closed.
- Removed outdated guidance stating that preview branches pause after
inactivity.
- Clarified that persistent branches remain available long-term and are
not automatically paused or deleted due to inactivity or pull request
closure.

## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Bug fix (regression).
## What is the current behavior?
#44172 replaced the old `isAwsK8s`-based check with an entitlement-based
check (`useCheckEntitlements('project_pausing', ...)`) for the pause
project button. In doing so, it also introduced an explicit `isBranch`
condition that unconditionally disables the pause button and shows
"Branch projects cannot be paused" for any branch project.
Prior to #44172, branches were exempt from the paid-plan pause
restriction entirely — the old `isPaidAndNotAwsK8s` computation
(`!isBranch && !isFreePlan && !isAwsK8s`) evaluated to `false` whenever
`isBranch` was `true`, so branch projects were never blocked by that
check. The new code changed this exemption into a hard block, which is
the regression: branches can no longer be paused at all.
## What is the new behavior?
Restore the original exemption: branch projects bypass the
`project_pausing` entitlement check (as they did the old AWS K8s check),
instead of being unconditionally blocked. The pause button and tooltip
for branches now only take into account permissions, project status, and
whether the project is active — matching pre-#44172 behavior.
```tsx
const buttonDisabled =
(!isBranch && !projectPausingAllowedInOrg) ||
project === undefined ||
isPaused ||
!canPauseProject ||
!isProjectActive
```
## Additional context
Regression introduced in
https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/44172.

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Bug Fixes**
* Updated project pause availability so the button now reflects the
correct conditions for branch and non-branch projects.
* Improved pause-related tooltips to show more accurate messaging based
on plan type and project status, including when pausing may not be
available on free plans.

## Summary
- Adds a "Custom instance type" input on the new-project modal, rendered
directly below the existing custom Postgres version field and gated
behind the same non-prod check.
- Wires the value through
`custom_supabase_internal_requests.ami.instance_type`, merged with the
existing AMI search-tag payload so both can be set independently.

/>
## Test plan
- [x] On a non-prod build, open the new-project modal and confirm the
"Custom instance type" field appears below "Custom Postgres version".
- [ ] Submit with only an instance type set and verify the request body
includes `custom_supabase_internal_requests.instance_type` and no `ami`
block.
- [x] Submit with both fields set and verify both `ami.search_tags` and
`instance_type` are sent.
- [x] Submit with neither set and verify
`custom_supabase_internal_requests` is omitted.
- [x] Verify the field is hidden in prod builds.

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Bug fix
## What is the current behavior?
Creating a schema only branch fails because ETL publication is owned by
`supabase_etl_admin` which users have no access.
## What is the new behavior?
Since ETL supports user managed publications, create them through pgmeta
so it's owned by `postgres` role instead.
## Additional context
mirrors [upstream
etl](https://github.com/supabase/etl/blob/main/etl-api/src/db/publications.rs#L22-L51)

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Bug Fixes**
* Added guards to prevent creating publications when project or
connection info is missing, with clearer error logging.
* Ensure the project connection string is explicitly passed so
publications target the correct database.
* **Refactor**
* Publication creation now executes generated SQL directly against the
database, with correct handling of empty or selected table lists and
proper identifier quoting for reliability.
