feat(library): redesign the site around the block catalog (#50372)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature — the visual redesign itself. Part 5 of 6 in a stack that splits the library redesign into reviewable pieces. The four PRs beneath it carry the build, content and Markdown work; what's left here is layout, navigation and styling. ## What is the current behavior? The library is laid out like a documentation site: a sidebar tree of framework folders, a homepage that lists links, and a guide page that opens with prose. That shape suits reference material, but the library's job is to help someone find a block and install it — and the sidebar is the only way to discover one. ## What is the new behavior? The homepage is the catalog itself — blocks grouped by what they do (authentication, database, storage, realtime, messaging, AI, foundations) rather than by framework, each with a preview of what it renders, filterable by category. Navigation moves into a site header whose Explore menu opens the same categories, so the catalog is reachable from any page and the per-page sidebar tree is gone. A guide opens with what the reader came for: the block's name, the install command, and a preview pane with tabs — the running component and its files — before any prose. The file tree that used to sit mid-page under "Folder structure" is one of those tabs. Every guide also offers a copy of the agent prompt that points at its Markdown. Getting-started pages get the same treatment: the quickstart is now a framework-tabbed walkthrough rather than a wall of setup links. ## Additional context `BlockOverviewTabs` renders Preview and Files here. #50369, stacked on top of this one, adds the third "What's added" tab — it is the only part of the redesign that depends on the new resource analyzer, which is why it sits above this PR rather than below it. Also removes what the redesign orphaned: the table-of-contents component and its `remark` / `mdast-util-toc` dependencies, and the sidebar nav and command-item configuration the new header replaced. The block source changes are typography only — auth card titles move from `text-2xl` to `font-medium text-lg tracking-normal` — which is what regenerates the auth registry artifacts. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added a redesigned Supabase Library catalog with categorized blocks, framework-aware navigation, previews, file views, and installation actions. * Added framework-specific quickstart guides for Next.js, React, Vue, Nuxt, React Router, and TanStack Start. * Added copy-to-clipboard prompts, “Open in v0” actions, starter templates, and richer visual previews. * **Improvements** * Updated documentation layouts, FAQ content, typography, navigation, accessibility, and responsive behavior. * Improved mobile navigation, framework selection, and standardized block installation guidance. * Refined authentication and social-login block presentation with more consistent heading styles. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Danny White <3104761+dnywh@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat: Create action to upsert table for new search (#50683)
## Problem For the new search, we will scan all files present within the public/markdown directory, extract text nodes and upsert a new Supabase table in a new project to do FTS type search. ## Solution In this PR: - A new script directory is created with files to solve all the steps described above. - Unit tests added for the fundamental bits of the script. - A new workflow file is added so the action runs after push every time content is altered, added or removed. ## Review instructions Sadly, testing this work is quite complex, but in case someone wants to: 1. Create a new Supabase project ton your personal space 1. Copy the id of the project and a secret key and add it to the new Search V2 environment variables as shown in the example file 1. Copy the content of the newly added `setup.sql` and run it on the SQL editor of your project. 1. Fetch this branch and on the search directory, run `search-v2:ingest` 1. Your project's table should have rows corresponding to the content from docs ## Checklist Check all before review: - [x] I have read [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [x] If I wrote a new docs topic or edited an existing topic, I used the `/write-the-docs` or `/edit-the-docs` skill, which references [WORD_LIST](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/WORD_LIST.md) and the docs [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md) guide ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Documentation pages are now indexed for full-text search at the page and section level. - Search results can show the most relevant section from each page, with its title, heading, excerpt, and relevance score. - Search content is automatically refreshed when published Markdown documentation changes. - **Tests** - Added coverage for Markdown parsing, page structure, routing, and search-content generation. |

chore(www): run production builds through Turbo (#50713)
www builds currently bypass Turbo. This caches Next.js compilation and sitemap generation while keeping content refreshes and asset uploads on every build, including cache hits. **Changed:** - Refresh content before Turbo hashes its inputs, and upload assets after Turbo saves or restores the build output. - Include generated content, shared code, environment settings, sitemaps, and the customer RSS feed in the cache configuration. - Remove the redundant `vercel.json` build override and consolidate public environment settings into `NEXT_PUBLIC_*`. Cache reuse requires the same commit and build inputs because production CDN URLs include the commit SHA. **Added:** - Build lifecycle tests covering cache restoration, input invalidation, root/app commands, and upload ordering and failure handling. ## To test - From `apps/www`, run `pnpm exec vitest run turbo-build.test.ts generate-sitemap.test.ts scripts/lib/githubStars.test.ts`. - Check the Vercel preview build runs content preparation before `build:next`, and verify the homepage, `/sitemap.xml`, and `/customers-rss.xml` load. - Rebuild with identical prepared content and environment settings to check compilation is cached. Asset uploads should still run when enabled. Validation: 63 tests passed, along with typecheck, ESLint for the new test, formatting, and a full local build. The local build used public example settings and placeholder survey configuration, with asset uploads disabled; Vercel deployment validation is still pending. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Build & Deployment** - Production builds now reuse cached outputs and restore generated assets when a cache is available. - Static assets upload after a successful build, and changes to content, documentation, configuration, or shared components trigger a fresh build. - **Documentation** - Added production build guidance covering caching, CDN uploads, overrides, and direct-build limitations. --------- Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

chore(ci): notify #team-frontend when ratchet baseline hits zero (#50978)
_Requested by **Charis Lam** · [Slack thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C0161K73J1J/p1790599888647059?thread_ts=1790599888.647059&cid=C0161K73J1J)_ ## Problem The weekly "Decrease studio lint ratchet baselines" workflow (`.github/workflows/studio-lint-ratchet-decrease.yml`) mechanically decreases each tracked ESLint rule's baseline count in `apps/studio/.github/eslint-rule-baselines.json` and opens/updates a PR. When a rule's count reaches exactly 0, there's nothing left to ratchet — a human (or agent) needs to remove it from ratchet tracking (`apps/studio/scripts/ratchet-rules.json` and the baseline file) and bump its ESLint severity to `error`, as was just done manually in #50977. Nobody is currently notified when this threshold is crossed, so it can sit unnoticed. ## Solution **Before:** the job silently commits the decreased baselines and opens/updates its PR with no signal that any rule just hit 0. **After:** a new step runs after the baseline commit/PR step, only when that step found changes (via a new `id: decrease-baselines` and a `changed` step output, added without touching the existing decrease logic itself — just capturing its existing control flow into an output). It parses the final `apps/studio/.github/eslint-rule-baselines.json` on disk for any rule whose count is exactly `0`. If any are found, it posts a Slack message via `curl` to a webhook, tagging `@Claude` in `#team-frontend` with the rule names and a link to the PR the job just created/updated, asking it to do the same triage as #50977 (remove from ratchet tracking, bump severity to `error`). If no rule is at 0, it skips silently. The webhook URL comes from a new repo secret, `secrets.SLACK_TEAM_FRONTEND_WEBHOOK_URL`, which **does not exist yet**. **A human needs to create a Slack incoming webhook for #team-frontend and add its URL as the `SLACK_TEAM_FRONTEND_WEBHOOK_URL` repository secret before this step will actually post anything.** Until then, the step detects the missing/empty secret and only logs a `::warning::`, exiting 0 — it will never fail the job. ## Review instructions 1. Read `.github/workflows/studio-lint-ratchet-decrease.yml`: confirm the existing decrease/commit/PR step is unchanged except for the added `id: decrease-baselines` and the two `echo ... >> "$GITHUB_OUTPUT"` lines that record whether anything changed and the PR URL. 2. Confirm the new final step only runs `if: steps.decrease-baselines.outputs.changed == 'true'`. 3. Confirm the new step parses `apps/studio/.github/eslint-rule-baselines.json`'s `rules` map for entries equal to `0`, and skips (exit 0, no curl) when none are found. 4. Confirm the `curl` call is gated on `SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL` being non-empty, and that a failed `curl` only emits `::warning::` rather than failing the step (`set -euo pipefail` is still safe because the failure is inside an `if !`). 5. Note that this PR alone does not make the notification fire: `SLACK_TEAM_FRONTEND_WEBHOOK_URL` must be provisioned as a repo secret (Settings → Secrets and variables → Actions) from a Slack incoming webhook for #team-frontend first. ## Checklist Check all before review: - [x] I have read [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] If I wrote a new docs topic or edited an existing topic, I used the `/write-the-docs` or `/edit-the-docs` skill, which applies the docs [style guide](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/tree/master/apps/docs/style-guide) 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) https://claude.ai/code/session_01LZThbcWV5U1r5cvUDKPVQP --------- Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Charis Lam <26616127+charislam@users.noreply.github.com> |

docs: trim CONTRIBUTING to repo mechanics and point at the style guide (#50743)
Part 3 of 3. Stack: #50742 → #50744 → #50743. Review #50742 and #50744 first. Closes DOCS-1177 ## Problem `CONTRIBUTING.md` mixed how to write a page with how the repo is laid out. That's why it reached 568 lines, and why a contributor looking for either half reads past the other. #50742 gives the writing half its own home. ## Solution Trim `CONTRIBUTING.md` to repo mechanics, 568 lines down to 163. **Removed**, now in the style guide: general principles, information types, document types, components and elements, styling and grammar, word usage. **Kept**: the skills table, repo organization, guide and reference structure, content reuse, search. Content listings keeps its data file, ID rules, and test command here; the when-to-use-one part is in the style guide. **Added**: a table linking each style guide file. Wire the contributor-facing entry points at the guide: - `apps/docs/AGENTS.md` — gains a style guide section listing each file separately, so an agent can load one file without the others. This auto-loads for anything under `apps/docs`, making it the highest-leverage pointer in the repo. - Root `AGENTS.md` — claimed the skills are "the source of truth for conventions." For docs content style that's now the guide, with the skills as the process that applies it. - `.github/pull_request_template.md`, `.coderabbit.yaml`, `apps/docs/README.md`, `apps/docs/DEVELOPERS.md` — updated paths. Drop the `.prettierignore` exemption for `apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md`. It's short enough to format now, and a repo that publishes a style guide shouldn't exempt its own contributing doc. ## Notes for review Discoverability in a markdown-only guide is entirely these pointers, so they're the load-bearing part of this PR rather than cleanup. Both surviving anchor links into `CONTRIBUTING.md` target `#ai-agent-skills-for-docs-authoring`, which is kept. No dangling anchors. This PR sits last in the stack on purpose. It deletes the style sections that seven skill instructions referenced, so it has to land after #50744 rewires them. ## Manual testing 1. Open `apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md` and confirm every remaining section is repo mechanics, and the style guide table links resolve. 2. Confirm `apps/docs/AGENTS.md` names each style guide file, in size order: `WORD_LIST`, `01-voice-and-tone`, `02-elements`, `03-page-structure`. 3. Run `grep -rn "apps/docs/WORD_LIST" --include="*.md" --include="*.yaml" . | grep -v node_modules` and confirm only the intentional stub matches. 4. Run `npx prettier --config prettier.config.mjs --check apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md`. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Documentation** * Updated contributor guidance to distinguish writing conventions from repository mechanics, with the style guide as the reference for documentation style. * Added style guide links and clarified when to use the writing and editing skills. * Revised the docs contribution guide with a style guide file list and steps for adding content listings. * Updated the pull request checklist to direct contributors to the documentation skills for style guidance. |

ci(api-types): require production verification FE-4455 (#50781)
## Problem API type changes still use the api-deploy-required label and an informational comment even though production verification has proven reliable enough to block merges. ## Fix Remove the obsolete API label path, scope the remaining labeler workflow to docs changes, and update the API-types guidance. Master branch protection now requires the app-bound verify-production-api-types check. ## How to test - Confirm the labeler workflow only runs for changes under apps/docs. - Confirm API type changes no longer receive the api-deploy-required label or comment. - Confirm master branch protection lists verify-production-api-types as a required GitHub Actions check. - Expected result: production API type verification blocks mismatched generated types while unrelated pull requests receive a successful skipped verification job. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Chores** * API type verification is now a required merge check; guidance to run it before review and treat failures as production drift remains. * Removed the API deployment label rule and the automated comment triggered when that label was applied. * The pull request labeling workflow now runs only for changes affecting the documentation app. |

chore(docs) Retire supa-mdx-lint (#50602)
Closes [DOCS-1289](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/DOCS-1289/get-the-linter-to-fix-what-it-flags-or-retirereplace-the-linter) Stacked on #50600, which points contributors at the authoring skills. Merge that one first. ## Problem Contributors experienced friction with the linter. They felt nickle and dimed for tiny nits and felt detracted from the work itself. PRs would become noisy with tiny one-word suggestions. Additionally, our homegrown linter is not very intelligent, causing frequent overrides. ## Solution This removes the linter entirely in favor of directing contributors to use SKILLS instead. The removal entails... - **CI.** Delete the three `docs_lint` workflows: the PR check, the external-PR comment companion, and the nightly `--fix` bot. Drop the stale `zizmor.yml` ignore entry for the deleted workflow. - **Tooling.** Delete `supa-mdx-lint.config.toml` and the 14 rule files. Drop the `lint:mdx` script and the `@supabase/supa-mdx-lint` dependency from docs, learn, and ui-library, and regenerate the lockfile. - **Content.** Remove the 181 directives. A separate commit carries Prettier's reformatting of the tables and blank lines those comments had suppressed, so the deletion commit stays readable. No prose changes. - **Style guide.** The word list states each rule directly instead of describing what the linter flagged. Every term survives, including the phrase groups that mirrored `Rule004ExcludeWords`. - **Skills.** `write-the-docs`, `edit-the-docs`, and `review-the-docs` drop `pnpm lint:mdx` from their self-review commands and check the word list directly. `ask-the-docs`'s CI reference drops both workflows. ## Manual testing 1. Run `git grep -i supa-mdx-lint -- . ':!pnpm-lock.yaml'`. No matches. 2. Run `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile --lockfile-only`. It passes, so the lockfile matches the three trimmed manifests. 3. Run `git diff master...HEAD --name-only --diff-filter=ACMR | grep -E '\.(md|mdx)$' | xargs npx prettier --config prettier.config.mjs --check`. All changed markdown passes. 4. Open the [reformatted filter table](https://docs-git-docs-retire-mdx-linter-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/observability/logs#filter-events) on the preview and compare it with [production](https://supabase.com/docs/guides/observability/logs#filter-events). The table renders the same. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Documentation** * Documentation guidance now uses manual prose and terminology review with the shared word list. * Clarified storage configuration and common Realtime channel mistakes. * Improved table formatting, text wrapping, and selected reference links. * Updated documentation authoring and review guidance. * **Chores** * Retired automated MDX linting from workflows and local validation commands. * Removed lint-suppression markers throughout documentation without changing instructions. * Added targeted documentation review guidance for pull requests. |

chore(github) Revise pull request template, include docs skills (#50591)
Related to DOCS-1289 ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Github chore ## What is the current behavior? The template has not been revised in two years. It is serviceable but simple. With some minor improvements, we can save time in the review process and nudge contributors toward better PR descriptions. ## What is the new behavior? This PR changes the pull request template: - Adds `write-the-docs` and `edit-the-docs` skill, which was the main ask for the Linear issue to socialize our skills so that we can retire the linter - Add "Problem" and "Solution" rather than "What is the current behavior" and "What is the new behavior...". They mean approximately the same thing but I think it's easier to understand and reason about. - Makes "Additional context" an optional field by commenting it out and stating "Optional". I find Additional context an annoying dumping ground for AI slop. - Adds a new section for writing manual instructions. Very valuable to speed up the review process. - Add an optional section for crafting a preview link table. ## Manual testing 1. Open the new template in a markdown visualizer 2. View content. See it is formatted well, links work, and content makes sense. 3. Uncomment the optional sections. See table is formatted correctly with the correct link formula. ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Documentation - Reworked the pull request template into a structured format covering the problem, solution, review instructions, and checklist. - Added optional sections for preview links and additional context. - Updated preview-link guidance with clearer instructions and example URLs. - Replaced question-based prompts and manual contribution-guideline confirmation with a clearer, checkbox-based review workflow. |

refactor(library): resolve registry dependencies from one source of truth (#50367)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Refactor, bug fix. Part 1 of 6 in a stack that splits the library redesign into reviewable pieces. This one is the foundation the rest build on and has no visual change. ## What is the current behavior? Three build steps each reimplement "where does this registry file land in the user's project": `process-registry`'s `getDefaultPath`, `registry/utils`' `uniqBy` on `file.path`, and the Markdown exporter. They disagree, which produces real bugs: - A Vue block whose files come from `node_modules/@supabase/vue-blocks/` keeps its package path, so the installer writes the package folder into the user's project. - `registryItemAppend` builds its `docs` string from `(item.docs, items.flatMap(...))` — a comma expression, so the item's own docs are discarded. - A name collision between a block file and its client's file silently keeps one of the two. - Install commands guess the CLI family from substrings in the item name, so `infinite-query-composable` — a Vue block with neither "vue" nor "nuxtjs" in its name — gets the React CLI. - Production Vue installs use `@supabase/
`, but the `@supabase` namespace is registered with shadcn, not shadcn-vue. - `build:registry`, `build:content`, `build:markdown` and `build:llms` run in parallel, but the last three read `public/r`. ## What is the new behavior? `lib/registry-resolution.ts` owns installed-path derivation, first-party dependency naming, deduplication, and cycle detection, and every consumer calls it. `build-registry` validates the whole registry against shadcn's schema and resolves every item, so a broken reference fails the build instead of shipping. `clean-registry` throws rather than logging past a failure. Pages declare their install `framework` explicitly instead of it being inferred, and production Vue installs use the absolute registry URL. The build steps are serialized behind `build:prepare`, and a new `library-tests.yml` workflow runs the library's tests, checks the generated registry is committed, and builds the app. ## Additional context Regenerated registry artifacts are the mechanical result of the resolution fix — the Vue client items and the OAuth consent items that gained their client's docs. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added explicit React and Vue framework selection for library blocks and installation commands. * Improved registry resolution, dependency handling, path validation, and Vue file normalization. * Added support for reliable local, preview, and production registry URLs. * **Documentation** * Updated Vue and Nuxt installation documentation to identify the Vue framework explicitly. * **Bug Fixes** * Preserved combined documentation and validated generated registry content more consistently. * **Tests** * Added coverage for installation commands, registry resolution, dependency handling, and generated artifacts. * **Chores** * Added automated pull-request checks for library tests and builds. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Ivan Vasilov <vasilov.ivan@gmail.com> |

fix(deps): add cooldown to npm Dependabot updates to satisfy pnpm minimumReleaseAge (#50417)
_Requested by **Jonny Summers-Muir** · [Slack thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C0429V78ACX/p1789496187445649?thread_ts=1789496187.445649&cid=C0429V78ACX)_ ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Chore / CI config fix (Dependabot supply-chain policy). ## What is the current behavior? Dependabot's `npm`-ecosystem pull requests fail our Vercel preview builds. `pnpm-workspace.yaml` sets `minimumReleaseAge: 4320` (3 days), which makes `pnpm install` reject any dependency version published more recently than 3 days ago as a supply-chain safeguard. Dependabot proposes the newest available version the moment it's released, so a Dependabot PR's pinned versions can be — and repeatedly have been — younger than pnpm's 3-day cutoff at the moment CI first runs. Concrete example: branch `dependabot/npm_and_yarn/npm_and_yarn-a6265761c1` (commit `2e988c6`), the `design-system` Vercel preview build fails because `pnpm install` rejects `@antfu/install-pkg@2.1.0` and `@types/d3-selection@3.0.12` under the minimum-release-age policy. This is not a one-off — it recurs across many Dependabot npm PRs (e.g. #50399, #49060, #49013). Note: while investigating, I could not find a pre-existing `package-ecosystem: npm` entry in `.github/dependabot.yml` despite the repo's long history of grouped `npm_and_yarn` Dependabot PRs — meaning the previous npm update cadence (grouping across directories such as `/`, `/apps/studio`, `/e2e/studio`) was apparently running under a GitHub-managed default rather than an explicit, in-repo config. This PR makes that configuration explicit so it's actually possible to attach a `cooldown` to it (see caveats below). ## What is the new behavior? Added an explicit `package-ecosystem: npm` entry to `.github/dependabot.yml`, covering the monorepo's workspace directories (`/`, `/apps/*`, `/packages/*`, `/blocks/*`, `/e2e/*`, matching `pnpm-workspace.yaml`'s `packages:` globs), with: ```yaml cooldown: default-days: 4 ``` A `cooldown` tells Dependabot not to propose a version until it has been out for at least that many days — 4 days here, one day above pnpm's 3-day `minimumReleaseAge` gate to leave margin for scheduling/CI latency. This means Dependabot's proposals are now aligned with pnpm's acceptance window: by the time a PR is opened and CI runs, the version has already cleared the age check, so `pnpm install` no longer rejects it. This fixes the root scheduling mismatch (Dependabot proposes instantly, pnpm requires 3 days of age) rather than weakening the supply-chain check itself — `minimumReleaseAge` and `minimumReleaseAgeExclude` in `pnpm-workspace.yaml` are unchanged. This is a pure CI/dependency-tooling config change with no dependency version bumps, so `pnpm-lock.yaml` did not need to be regenerated. ## Validation - YAML syntax: parsed `.github/dependabot.yml` with `yaml.safe_load` — valid. - pnpm accepts the config: ran `pnpm install --lockfile-only --filter design-system...` (the project named in the failing example) from a clean checkout; it printed `Verifying lockfile against supply-chain policies (3424 entries)... Lockfile passes supply-chain policies`, confirming `pnpm-workspace.yaml`'s `minimumReleaseAge`/`minimumReleaseAgeExclude` config (untouched by this PR) still parses and behaves correctly. - Did not attempt a full monorepo `pnpm install`/lockfile regen: not needed since no dependency versions changed, and a full workspace install is separately blocked in this environment by an unrelated `npm.jsr.io` 403 on `apps/studio`'s `@jsr/std__path` dependency. - Could not validate the new `directories` (plural/glob) `dependabot.yml` field against GitHub's live Dependabot config validator from this sandbox (no network path to it); it is a documented, GA `dependabot.yml` option, but worth a maintainer double-checking the "Insights > Dependency graph > Dependabot" config validation tab once this PR is open. ## Additional context Caveat for a maintainer with org-admin visibility: since no npm entry existed in version control before this PR, it's worth confirming there isn't a separate, org/enterprise-level Dependabot configuration also managing npm updates for this repo (which could now run alongside this new repo-level entry). If one exists, this repo-level entry should take precedence per GitHub's documented behavior, but it's worth a quick check in org Settings, Code security, to rule out duplicate/conflicting scheduling. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) https://claude.ai/code/session_01BGhzwT3p6k35oEBJa8ivgH Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix: share sentry crash policy and enable www reporting (#50232)
## Problem The website initializes Sentry only on the server and edge runtimes, leaving browser crashes unreported. Its crash-reporting setup also needs the same consent and third-party filtering policy that docs and Studio otherwise maintain separately. ## Fix Add www browser initialization and tagged crash capture for both Next.js routers, with accessible fallback focus. Move the shared consent/platform and third-party filtering into common/sentry, reuse it from all three apps, and remove the duplicated docs/www helpers and tests. Preserve each app's initialization and Studio's additional noise filtering, sampling, and sanitization. Include the source-map upload token in www's build cache inputs, and trigger the shared/www and Studio test workflows when the shared policy changes. ## How to test - Run `pnpm --filter www test ../../packages/common/sentry.test.ts lib/sentry-capture.test.tsx`: all 22 shared-policy and real-SDK capture tests passed locally. - Run `pnpm --filter studio exec vitest run lib/sentry-client-options.test.ts`: all 42 Studio options and policy-parity tests passed locally. - The www capture tests exercise the actual initializer and both router handlers with an in-memory transport, verify crash tags and fallback focus, and enforce consent. Removing initialization, capture calls, boundary tags, or consent gating was verified to fail these tests. - On a www preview with its DSN configured, accept telemetry consent and trigger temporary render errors in both routers. Verify they reach the www Sentry project with the boundary tag and readable stack traces. Formatting passes. Full local app typechecks encounter existing dependency/generated-file drift, with no diagnostics in changed files. Three unchanged TanStack mock call-count tests fail locally and reproduce against the pre-refactor implementation. Live Sentry ingestion and source-map uploads remain deployment checks. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Accessibility** - Error pages now automatically move focus to a clearly labeled error message, helping screen-reader and keyboard users understand when a page fails. - **Reliability** - Browser error reporting now captures application crashes more consistently across supported page types and navigation transitions. - Reporting respects consent and platform availability while filtering unrelated third-party failures. - **Testing** - Expanded automated coverage for error capture, reporting rules, consent handling, and accessible error-page behavior. |

feat(www): emit sitemap lastmod from content dates (#50198)
I added content dates to `sitemap_www.xml` and `dateModified` to blog
JSON-LD so crawlers can compare freshness with page metadata. Both use
`updated` when present, otherwise the publication date.
**Changed:**
- **Consistent dates:** I use the same frontmatter parser for the blog
page and sitemap. It preserves authored dates across quoting and
timezones and rejects JavaScript frontmatter.
- **Invalid dates stop the build:** I reject impossible calendar days,
out-of-range times and offsets, malformed dates, and `updated` before
publication. Content changes run the generator in CI.
- **Authoring:** I documented optional `updated` for substantive
revisions. Events, static pages, and `/evals` omit `<lastmod>`.
**Note:** Changelog dates come from RSS. Existing sitemap omissions for
nonnumeric changelog slugs (GROWTH-1212) and app-router pages
(GROWTH-1214) remain separate.
## To test
On the preview:
- [x] Open `/sitemap_www.xml`: blog, alternatives, customer stories, and
included changelog entries should carry `YYYY-MM-DD` lastmod values.

feat(www): cross-list openapi and mcp endpoint (#50180)
`/.well-known/ard.json` advertises the Management API OpenAPI spec and the MCP server, but `/llms.txt` listed neither and `/.well-known/api-catalog` listed only the Management API. I added both resources to the two surfaces that were missing them, so an agent finds the same spec and endpoint whichever discovery file it reads first. **Changed:** - **llms.txt gains an `## API and agent resources` section**: two described links, the same-origin `/openapi.json` spec and `https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp`, from a small list in `lib/agent-resources.ts`. A named heading rather than `## Optional`, since llmstxt.org defines Optional as links an agent may skip. The descriptions restate ard.json's on purpose; ard.json is curated to the ARD schema and stays untouched. - **api-catalog lists the MCP endpoint**: added as a catalog `item` plus its own linkset member carrying `service-doc` (the MCP guide) and `service-meta` (the OAuth protected-resource metadata the endpoint's 401 response already points at). - **Tests cover what the two files advertise**: `ard-catalog.test.ts` now parses api-catalog, checks that its `item` list and its anchored members agree, and runs every same-origin URL from api-catalog and the llms.txt resource list through the existing dead-URL resolver (public file, app route, rewrite, or docs guide). The www tests workflow now checks out `apps/docs/content/guides` (the directory the llms.txt route already reads at runtime) and runs on changes to it, so moving a guide that a catalog links to fails that PR rather than the next www one. **Note:** `/openapi.json` is an external rewrite served uncached on every request (338 KB). I tried `Cache-Control` and then the documented `x-vercel-enable-rewrite-caching` + `CDN-Cache-Control` pair on that path; the preview kept returning `x-vercel-cache: MISS`, so both are reverted. Caching the alias is a separate change. ## To test Tested on Vercel preview: - [x] `curl -s <preview>/llms.txt | tail -5`: expect an `## API and agent resources` heading followed by the OpenAPI spec link and the MCP server link; the diff against production `llms.txt` is those appended lines only - [x] `curl -s <preview>/.well-known/api-catalog | jq '.linkset[2]'`: expect a member anchored at `https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp` with `service-doc` and `service-meta`, served as `application/linkset+json` ## Linear - fixes GROWTH-1207 ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added API and agent resource links to `llms.txt`, including the Management API specification and MCP server. - Added the Supabase MCP server to the API catalog with service documentation and metadata links. - **Tests** - Expanded catalog validation to cover API catalog entries, agent resources, and documentation guide links. - Updated pull request checks to run when guide content changes. |

chore: make agent instructions agent-agnostic (#49941)
Makes the repo's AI-agent setup tool-agnostic: instructions live in
`AGENTS.md` files, skills live in `.agents/skills/`, and Claude Code,
Codex, Cursor, and Copilot all read the same sources. Also sweeps the
skills for stale and duplicated content while everything was being
moved.
**Changed:**
- Every `CLAUDE.md` (root, `apps/studio`, `apps/docs`, `apps/kb`) is now
a one-line `@AGENTS.md` import; the content moved verbatim into an
`AGENTS.md` beside it. The root one moved from `.claude/CLAUDE.md` to
the repo root for consistency.
- All skills now live in `.agents/skills/`; `.claude/skills` is a single
symlink to it (replacing the old mix of real dirs and per-skill
symlinks). Path references in `.coderabbit.yaml`, code comments, and
docs updated to match.
- `.github/copilot-instructions.md` keeps only the review policy and
points at `AGENTS.md` + `.agents/skills/`. Copilot code review reads
those natively now, so the per-topic
`.github/instructions/*.instructions.md` files were duplicates of the
skills.
- Stale skill content fixed: `studio-queries` imported a toast library
Studio doesn't use, `telemetry-standards` and `studio-testing` used
import paths that don't resolve, `safe-sql-execution` cited a boundary
test that doesn't exist, the ask-the-docs references described an
`AiPrompt` mechanism that was replaced by the ID-keyed registry, plus a
handful of wrong paths, a self-contradicting `waitForTimeout` rule, an
invalid Playwright signature, and a ConfigCat flag described as PostHog.
- `studio-error-handling` now explains when to use `AlertError` (the
default) vs `ErrorMatcher`.
**Added:**
- `apps/docs/AGENTS.md` (docs test requirements, from the old Cursor
rule)
- `studio-shortcuts` skill (from the old Copilot instruction file,
verified against the current registry)
- `ask-the-docs/reference/graphql-endpoint.md` and
`search-embeddings.md` (from the old Cursor rules, with the missing
resolver/registration/codegen steps filled in)
- Feature-flag measurement section in `telemetry-standards`
**Removed:**
- `.cursor/` (rules folded in as above; skill symlinks no longer needed)
and `.cursorignore`
- `.github/instructions/` (8 files)
- `vercel-composition-patterns/AGENTS.md` – a 946-line verbatim
concatenation of its own `rules/` directory, and a nested `AGENTS.md`
that agents could auto-load as repo instructions
- `edit-the-docs/reference/structure-and-flow.md` – word-for-word copy
of the skill's own Phase 2 text
## To test
- `readlink .claude/skills` → `../.agents/skills`, and `ls
.claude/skills/copywriting/SKILL.md` resolves
- Open a Claude Code session at the repo root and in `apps/studio` – the
imported `AGENTS.md` content should load as before
- `git diff master --stat -M` shows the skill moves as 100% renames
(content unchanged except the listed fixes)
- Spot-check a fixed claim, e.g. `import { toast } from 'sonner'` in
`studio-queries`, or the `logs.all` ESLint rule cited in
`clickhouse-logs-queries/references/codebase-integration.md`

feat(www): publish agent discovery catalog and complete json-ld (#49768)
I added the agent-discovery surfaces the www app was missing: a resource catalog at `/.well-known/ard.json` plus completed structured data on the homepage. I scoped this from the agent-readiness gaps that are truthfully closable on the www side; the catalog lists only resources that already exist and serve 200 (MCP OAuth metadata, Management API OpenAPI spec, llms.txt, agent-skills index). **Changed:** - **Agents can discover our machine-readable resources from one document**: new static catalog at `/.well-known/ard.json` (Agentic Resource Discovery format); the legacy `/.well-known/ai-catalog.json` path serves the same file via rewrite, keeping a single source artifact. - **Organization JSON-LD carries verifiable company details**: adds `legalName`, a support `contactPoint`, and the registered address already public on our Terms of Service. - **Homepage declares the product as an application entity**: emits `SoftwareApplication` JSON-LD via the existing `softwareApplicationSchema` builder, same pattern as the vector module page. ## To test Tested on Vercel preview: - [ ] `curl <preview-url>/.well-known/ard.json`: expect 200 with a JSON catalog of 5 entries - [ ] `curl <preview-url>/.well-known/ai-catalog.json`: expect the same document with status 200 (rewrite, not a redirect) - [ ] View homepage page source: expect three `application/ld+json` scripts: Organization now includes `address` and `contactPoint`, and a `SoftwareApplication` block is present ## Linear - fixes GROWTH-1164 ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added an Agent Resource Description catalog listing Supabase’s MCP, API, documentation, and agent skill resources. - Added support for the legacy AI Catalog URL through a canonical redirect. - Enhanced website structured data with software application details, legal information, support contact details, and business address. - **Tests** - Added validation ensuring discoverable `.well-known` resources are cataloged and resolve correctly. - **Chores** - Updated marketing site test coverage for `.well-known` resource changes. |

docs: add Personal Access Tokens guide with generated permission tables (#49732)
Add a guide that compares classic and scoped personal access tokens, explains how account roles constrain token permissions, and walks through creating and testing a project-scoped token. Include generated tables mapping permissions to Management API endpoints and MCP tools, and link the guide from docs navigation and Studio token sheets. Move the scoped-token permission catalog from Studio into shared-data. Studio and docs generation now share permission names, categories, descriptions, risk metadata, modes, scopes, and display order. Generate the tables from the shared catalog, OpenAPI x-fga-permissions, and the downloaded MCP permission map. Exclude Workers permissions until the feature is live. Run regeneration through the docs Makefile, verify checked-in output in CI, and refresh it in the weekly Management API workflow. Add Dashboard and Docs ownership plus contributor guidance so permission changes stay synchronized. |

ci(studio): fetch enough history for paths-filter on push events (#49766)
Fixes the master-push failures in the Selfhosted Studio E2E workflow (e.g. [this run](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/actions/runs/33383940726)) where all shards die in ~30s at the `dorny/paths-filter` step with: ``` fatal: Not a valid object name <github.event.before>^{commit} fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': No such device or address ``` On push events, paths-filter diffs against `github.event.before` using local git. With the default depth-1 checkout that commit usually isn't present, so the action falls back to a `git fetch` — which runs unauthenticated because we set `persist-credentials: false`, and GitHub rejects unauthenticated git fetches from the runner IPs. Whether a job passed depended on whether the runner's shared git cache happened to contain the previous master tip, which is why shards fail nondeterministically and re-runs partially recover. **Changed:** - `fetch-depth: 50` on the checkout preceding paths-filter in the three workflows that run it on push (`studio-e2e-test`, `studio-unit-tests`, `studio-docker-build`), so the comparison base is always fetched with the checkout action's own credentials and no fallback fetch happens. `persist-credentials: false` stays. PR events are unaffected either way — paths-filter uses the GitHub API there, not git. ## To test - CI on this PR passes (PR path exercises the API code path) - After merge, the next few master pushes run Selfhosted Studio E2E without the paths-filter step failing ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Chores** * Improved automated build, end-to-end test, and unit test workflows by ensuring sufficient Git history is available for change detection. * Increased reliability of workflow runs triggered by code pushes. Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix: FormItemLayout does not apply item id correctly (#49637)
## Problem `<FormItemLayout>` does not apply item id correctly. This can be seen on https://supabase.com/design-system/docs/ui-patterns/forms: open the devtool and check the form items labels. They have no `for` attribute. This makes it harder to correctly test and is an accessibility issue. Axe devtool actually report it ## Solution When inside React Hook Form, `<FormItemLayout>` actually generate an `id` (via `<FormItem>`). However, this `id` is overridden in `<FormLayout>` and read from context by `<FormLabel>`. Ensure we use the generated id unless one was provided. Also updated the paths filters for the CI check so that any changes in either `ui` or `ui-patterns` triggers the studio unit and e2e tests. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Bug Fixes** - Improved form accessibility by ensuring labels consistently connect to their corresponding input fields. - React-based forms now correctly preserve field-specific identifiers when associating labels with inputs. - Added support for explicitly specifying a label’s input target, improving compatibility with customized form layouts. - Updated Studio forms to use consistent control identifiers and labeling behavior. - **Quality Improvements** - Automated validation now also runs when shared UI components and patterns are updated. |

chore(studio): gate dead code with knip in CI (#49721)
Makes knip a CI gate for Studio so dead files and unused dependencies fail the PR instead of piling up. Third PR in the stack, on top of #49719 (dead code) and #49720 (unused deps), which get Studio to a clean run. **Changed:** - knip `pnpx knip@~5.50.0` → root devDependency `knip@6.32.3`, `pnpm knip` now runs it. The old `pnpx` form was actually broken: it resolved knip's `typescript` peer to TS 7 and crashed with `ts.getDefaultLibFilePath is not a function`. (6.33.0 is newer but blocked by `minimumReleaseAge`.) - `knip.jsonc` rewritten for v6 with a `workspaces["apps/studio"]` block. Framework-convention files (`router.tsx`, `start.ts`, `routes/**`, `compat/**`, `api/server.js`) are `entry` rather than `ignore` — an ignored file's imports aren't traced, which is how `ShellFallback.tsx` (only imported from `routes/__root.tsx`) was being reported as dead. knip 6's Next.js plugin already covers `instrumentation*.ts`, `proxy.ts`, `pages/**`; its tanstack-router plugin only looks under `src/`, hence the manual entries. Narrow `ignoreIssues` for graphql-codegen output and the `CONSTRAINT_TYPE` enum; `ignoreDependencies` for the five implicit deps from #49720, each with a comment; `ignoreBinaries: ["vercel"]`. - `apps/studio/CLAUDE.md`: one bullet on the gate and where framework files go. **Added:** - `.github/workflows/studio-knip.yml` — path-filtered to `apps/studio/**` + knip/pnpm config, mirrors `studio-lint-ratchet.yml`'s setup (no sparse checkout: knip needs every workspace's `package.json` to resolve the graph). Runs `pnpm knip --workspace apps/studio --reporter symbols --reporter github-actions` so findings show up as inline PR annotations. ~5s locally. Scope notes: the gate is Studio-only — the full-monorepo run still has ~400 dead files in `www`/`docs`/`blocks`, which is a separate effort. `exclude: ["types", "exports"]` is kept, so unused exports aren't gated yet, but `enumMembers`/`duplicates` are (they caught real things in #49719). ## To test - `pnpm knip --workspace apps/studio` exits 0 on this branch - The `Studio Dead Code (knip)` workflow runs on this PR and is green - Sanity-check the gate bites: add a throwaway `apps/studio/lib/unused.ts`, run `pnpm knip --workspace apps/studio` → reports it and exits 1 ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **CI** * Added automated dead-code and unused-dependency checks for the Studio workspace on relevant pushes and pull requests. * Results appear in workflow summaries and as inline pull request annotations. * **Maintenance** * Improved analysis of framework-convention files and Studio code. * Standardized the local code-quality check and updated its configuration support. --------- Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(www): canonicalize homepage markdown at /index.md (#49384)
The www root markdown lived at an accidental URL: `/.md` served the
homepage markdown only because middleware strips the `.md` suffix and
the empty slug fell through to the homepage allowlist entry, while the
canonical-looking `/index.md` 404'd. The served markdown also opened
with stale legacy positioning copy that no longer matches the site. I
renamed the homepage content slug to `index` end-to-end so `/index.md`
is the one canonical markdown URL.
**Changed:**
- **`/index.md` serves the homepage markdown (200 `text/markdown`)**:
`content/md/homepage.md` renamed to `index.md`; the middleware bare-root
slug mapping, the generator's sort special-case, and the homepage
alternate tag follow, so the tag now advertises `/index.md`.
- **Legacy aliases 308 to the canonical URL**: `/.md`, `/homepage.md`,
and bare `/index` redirect via `lib/redirects.js`; `/llms/homepage.txt`
retargeted straight to `/index.md` to avoid a redirect chain. New
`next.config.test.ts` assertions pin all four.
- **Positioning refreshed**: the markdown now opens with "Supabase is
the Postgres development platform" (matching the site title), replacing
the outdated tagline.
- **Generator safety**: the redirect-exclusion filter in
`generateMdContent.mjs` now exempts the `index` slug (its HTML page is
`/`, not `/index`, so a `/index` redirect never refers to it), and the
build fails if `content/md/index.md` ever goes missing while middleware
still maps `/` to the `index` slug.
- **CI actually runs the new assertions**: I widened the `www-tests.yml`
paths filter to include `apps/www/lib/**/*.js`,
`apps/www/content/md/**`, and `apps/www/scripts/**/*.mjs`. It previously
only matched `.ts*` and the next.config files, so a PR touching only
`lib/redirects.js`, the markdown content, or the generator would skip
the tests that pin these redirects.
**Note:** the existing homepage alternate tag still exists, re-pointed
to the canonical URL. Whether the homepage should advertise a markdown
sibling at all is a separate decision; leaving it aimed at a 308 would
break tag consumers. Positioning wording is editorial, happy to tweak.
## To test
Tested on Vercel preview:
- [x] `curl -si <preview>/index.md`: expect 200 `content-type:
text/markdown`, body opens with the Postgres development platform
positioning and no longer contains the old tagline
- [x] `curl -sI <preview>/.md`: expect 308 with `location: /index.md`
- [x] `curl -sI <preview>/homepage.md` and `curl -sI
<preview>/llms/homepage.txt`: expect 308 with `location: /index.md`
- [x] `curl -sI <preview>/index`: expect 308 with `location: /`
- [x] `curl -s -H "Accept: text/markdown" -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}
%{content_type}" <preview>/`: expect `200 text/markdown` (bare-URL
negotiation unchanged)
- [x] `curl -s <preview>/ | grep -o 'type="text/markdown"
href="[^"]*"'`: expect href ending `/index.md`

feat(www) Add scaffolding for WWW E2E tests and CI check (#48861)
Closes DOCS-1278 ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature. Adds E2E test scaffolding and a CI check for the marketing site. ## What is the current behavior? Closes [FE-4047](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/FE-4047). The marketing site has no E2E coverage. Docs has a suite in `e2e/docs`, but its runner, git helpers and axe reporting are private to that package, so a second site cannot reuse them. ## What is the new behavior? * **A www suite scoped to changed content.** Changed `.mdx` files in `_blog`, `_events`, `_customers` and `_alternatives` map to the URLs they render. Pages with `disable_page_build: true` are skipped because they 404 by design. Capped at 20 pages. Enforces `heading-order` and `page-has-heading-one`, matching docs. * **`e2e/shared` The docs site is also static with similar needs. This folder shares the docs logic with www. * **A CI check that is safe to mark required.** Path scoping lives in a `Detect changed paths` step rather than a `paths:` trigger, so the check reports on every pull request instead of being skipped. `waitForVercelDocsPreview.js` becomes `waitForVercelPreview.js`, shared by both workflows. ## How the check behaves The job always reports a check run, so it is safe to mark required. Path scoping happens in a step rather than a `paths:` trigger, which would leave non-www pull requests waiting on a check that never reports. | Case | Behavior | | --- | --- | | Fork pull request adds new pages | Passes without testing. The Vercel wait is gated on `head.repo.full_name == github.repository`, so forks resolve no preview URL. The job emits a `::warning` and a job summary containing a ready-to-run `gh workflow run www-e2e.yml` command with the resolved page paths, so a maintainer can run it against the preview. | | Vercel preview times out or fails | Passes without testing. The wait step is `continue-on-error: true`, so a 900s timeout or a failed deployment leaves the URL unset and the suite skips. Vercel's own `Vercel – zone-www-dot-com` check already reports the failure. | | Draft pull request | Job does not run at all, gated at the job level on `pull_request.draft == false`. `ready_for_review` is in the trigger's `types`, so marking it ready runs the check. | | Another app changed, www untouched | Job runs and every step skips. The `www` filter matches only the four content directories, `e2e/www`, `e2e/shared`, the lockfile, and this workflow. | | Only the harness changed | Passes without testing. Scope resolves to zero pages, and the Vercel wait is additionally gated on `www_app`, so it does not wait for a preview Vercel skipped. | | No preview resolves, any reason | Skips rather than falling back to production. Production does not serve pages the pull request adds, so testing it would fail a valid change. | ### Not covered Changes to `apps/www` components and routes do not trigger this check — only the four content directories do. A follow-up can check global components such as the navigation and the footer. ## Manual testing 1. Start the site: `pnpm dev:www` 2. Run `pnpm e2e:www` with no www content changed. It should resolve zero pages and skip Playwright, not fail. 3. Touch a post, then run `pnpm e2e:www` again: `echo "" >> apps/www/_blog/2024-01-01-some-post.mdx`. The resolved `/blog/...` path should be listed before Playwright starts. 4. Run against production with no local server: `PLAYWRIGHT_BASE_URL=https://supabase.com WWW_E2E_PAGE_PATHS=/blog/postgres-language-server pnpm e2e:www` 5. Point step 4 at a page with a known heading problem. The failure should name the rule, the CSS selector and the markup. 6. Confirm docs still passes on the shared runner: `pnpm dev:docs`, then `pnpm e2e:docs` ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added WWW end-to-end testing for affected content pages, including accessibility checks. * Added standard and full-site test commands, configurable preview testing, and failure reports. * Added shared utilities for page discovery, accessibility scanning, and test execution. * **Documentation** * Documented WWW test setup, coverage, debugging, CI behavior, and running checks against production or preview environments. * **Improvements** * Updated documentation test workflows to better identify affected changes and handle preview environments. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(docs ci): stop Docs E2E blocking pull requests it shouldn't (#48726)
Supersedes #48725, which GitHub closed when its head branch was renamed. Same commits, same diff. Fixes [DOCS-1270](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/DOCS-1270/fail-the-e2e-pipeline-if-the-docs-preview-never-loads). `Docs E2E` is a required check on `master`, so anything that turns it red blocks a merge. It had three ways of going red that had nothing to do with whether the author's docs were correct. ## Problem **1. Every troubleshooting page could fail, with nothing actionable.** Troubleshooting entries were selected by `article.prose`. That class is not unique — `apps/docs/app/not-found.tsx` renders `
` too — and nothing guaranteed it matched the entry's article at all. When it missed, the link test failed with `Page article should be present` and the a11y test failed inside axe with `No elements found for include in page Context` plus a stack trace. Neither tells the author what to do. This is what DOCS-1270 actually was. The ticket describes tests running "against a preview build that was never created", but the [failing run](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/actions/runs/30949924515/job/92132543658) for #48719 shows the preview resolved fine and `response.ok()` passed — it broke at the article assertion. **Blocked:** anyone adding or editing a troubleshooting entry. **2. Fork pull requests failed for being forks.** Fork runs get no `VERCEL_TOKEN`, so no preview URL resolves, and the base-URL step fell back to `https://supabase.com`. The page paths under test can include pages the pull request *adds*, which do not exist on production, so they 404. **Blocked:** every external contributor adding a docs page, unconditionally, with no action available to them. **3. A Vercel problem failed the docs check.** `waitForVercelDocsPreview.js` throws when Vercel reports a failed deployment, omits a `target_url`, or does not post a status within 900s. The step had no `continue-on-error`, so any of those turned `Docs E2E` red. **Blocked:** any author whose pull request coincided with a Vercel incident. This is live right now — two Vercel checks on this very pull request are failing with "unable to fetch required git information", a git-integration auth error that happens before any build runs. ## Solution **1. Select on a stable, purpose-named attribute.** Add `id="sb-docs-troubleshooting-main-article"` on the troubleshooting article, mirroring `#sb-docs-guide-main-article` on guides, and select on that instead of the class. Per review feedback, a plain id doesn't say it's a test hook, so both articles also get `data-testid` with the same value — matching the convention `apps/studio` already uses with Playwright's `getByTestId` — and the e2e selectors target that attribute instead. Guides keep their `id` — `GuidesMdx.client.tsx` and `GuidesSidebar.tsx` both query it directly for the table of contents and the "copy article" fallback — and gain `data-testid` alongside it. **2 and 3. Resolve a preview or skip — never substitute production, never fail on Vercel.** The production fallback is gone. `continue-on-error: true` on the preview wait means a Vercel failure resolves no URL instead of failing the job, which lands in the same path as a fork: `should_test=false`, so Playwright is skipped and the check passes. Both cases emit a `::warning::` and a job summary with the exact `gh workflow run` command to test the preview by hand, and manual runs against a non-production base URL now send the protection bypass so that command actually works. Skipping does not let a broken preview through: `Vercel – docs` is itself a required check on `master`, so a genuine preview failure still blocks the merge — via the check that describes the real problem. ## Manual test **1. The selector matches the markup, and it needs this pull request's preview.** `data-testid` isn't deployed anywhere yet — not on production, not on any other branch — so this is the one claim in this PR that production cannot confirm. Verified directly against this branch's own Vercel preview: ```bash curl -s https://docs-git-docs-e2e-stop-false-blocks-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/database/overview \ | grep -o 'data-testid="[^"]*"' curl -s https://docs-git-docs-e2e-stop-false-blocks-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/troubleshooting/42501--permission-denied-for-table-httprequestqueue-KnozmQ \ | grep -o 'data-testid="[^"]*"' ``` Expect `data-testid="sb-docs-guide-main-article"` and `data-testid="sb-docs-troubleshooting-main-article"` respectively. Then run the suite against that same preview — expect all page/link/a11y checks to pass: ```bash PLAYWRIGHT_BASE_URL=https://docs-git-docs-e2e-stop-false-blocks-supabase.vercel.app \ DOCS_E2E_PAGE_PATHS=/docs/guides/database/overview,/docs/guides/troubleshooting/42501--permission-denied-for-table-httprequestqueue-KnozmQ \ pnpm -C e2e/docs exec playwright test --reporter=list ``` Running the same command with `PLAYWRIGHT_BASE_URL=https://supabase.com` fails both pages right now — expected until this merges, not a regression. Once merged, exercise it through the real pipeline: ```bash gh workflow run docs-e2e.yml --ref docs-e2e/stop-false-blocks \ -f base_url=<preview-url> \ -f page_paths=/docs/guides/troubleshooting/42501--permission-denied-for-table-httprequestqueue-KnozmQ ``` **2. No preview means skip, not a run against production.** Exercise the base-URL step's three paths from the repository root: ```bash export GITHUB_OUTPUT=$(mktemp) GITHUB_STEP_SUMMARY=$(mktemp) PAGE_PATHS=/docs/guides/a script=$(python3 -c "import yaml;print([s for s in yaml.safe_load(open('.github/workflows/docs-e2e.yml'))['jobs']['e2e']['steps'] if s.get('name')=='Resolve base URL'][0]['run'])") for c in "workflow_dispatch|https://supabase.com|" "pull_request||https://docs-abc.vercel.app" "pull_request||"; do IFS='|' read -r ev url dep <<< "$c" : > "$GITHUB_OUTPUT" EVENT_NAME="$ev" BASE_URL_INPUT="${url:-https://supabase.com}" DEPLOYMENT_URL="$dep" bash -c "$script" >/dev/null 2>&1 echo "$ev deployment=[${dep:-none}] -> $(tr '\n' ' ' < "$GITHUB_OUTPUT")" done tail -4 "$GITHUB_STEP_SUMMARY" ``` Expected: ``` workflow_dispatch deployment=[none] -> url=https://supabase.com use_bypass=false should_test=true pull_request deployment=[https://docs-abc.vercel.app] -> url=https://docs-abc.vercel.app use_bypass=true should_test=true pull_request deployment=[none] -> url= use_bypass=false should_test=false ``` followed by a runnable `gh workflow run docs-e2e.yml` command in the job summary. The third line covers both the fork case and the Vercel-failure case: no base URL, no test, no block. **3. A Vercel failure no longer fails the job.** `continue-on-error: true` on the wait step is what routes a throw into that third line: ```bash python3 -c " import yaml s=[x for x in yaml.safe_load(open('.github/workflows/docs-e2e.yml'))['jobs']['e2e']['steps'] if x.get('name')=='Wait for Vercel docs preview'][0] print('continue-on-error:', s.get('continue-on-error')) for n in ('Install dependencies','Install Playwright Chromium','Run docs E2E'): print(n, '->', [x for x in yaml.safe_load(open('.github/workflows/docs-e2e.yml'))['jobs']['e2e']['steps'] if x.get('name')==n][0]['if']) " ``` Expect `continue-on-error: True` and all three run steps gated on `steps.base-url.outputs.should_test == 'true'`. **Note on this pull request's own check.** The scope resolver only maps `apps/docs/content/**` to pages, and this pull request changes none, so `Docs E2E` resolves zero pages and skips — which is correct, and why the dispatch above is the real test. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Improved documentation preview checks so unavailable or delayed previews no longer cause unnecessary workflow failures. * Added clearer handling for manual documentation checks and missing preview deployments. * **Tests** * Improved end-to-end documentation testing reliability across preview and production environments. * Added stable targeting for the troubleshooting article to reduce test failures caused by page structure changes. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(docs ci): report Docs E2E check on every PR (#48681)
\"Docs E2E\" is a required status check on master, but the workflow only triggered on docs-related paths. A required check whose workflow never starts creates no check run at all, so every non-docs PR sat blocked on \"Expected — waiting for status to be reported\" (e.g. #48677). The fix relies on the asymmetry in how branch protection treats the two kinds of skipping: a job skipped via an `if:` condition still reports a check run (counted as passing), while a workflow filtered out by `paths:` reports nothing. **Changed:** - Dropped the `paths:` filter from the `pull_request` trigger — the workflow now runs on every PR to master - Added a `dorny/paths-filter` step (same pattern as `studio-e2e-test.yml`) carrying the exact path list the trigger used to have; it runs before checkout using the API, so non-docs PRs skip the expensive full-history checkout entirely and report green in seconds - Folded the later \"Detect docs app changes\" step into the same filter (`docs_app` output) - Flipped downstream step guards from `skip != 'true'` to `skip == 'false'` so they stay off when the scope step itself was skipped (its output is empty then, and empty `!= 'true'` would have run them) This also fixes draft PRs: the job-level draft condition now produces a skipped-but-reported check instead of nothing, and `ready_for_review` triggers a real run. No behavior change for docs PRs or `workflow_dispatch` runs. The required-check context (`Docs E2E`) keeps its name. ## To test - On this PR (docs-related since it edits the workflow): the full suite should run as before - On a non-docs PR after merge: \"Docs E2E\" reports green in seconds instead of hanging as \"Expected\" - On a draft PR: check reports as skipped, run happens on ready-for-review ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Tests** * Documentation end-to-end checks now report a status for every qualifying pull request. * Documentation changes automatically run the relevant browser tests and upload test reports. * Pull requests without documentation changes receive a successful skipped check. * Preview environment validation now runs only when documentation changes are detected. Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(docs) Dynamically E2E test all docs-owned content (#48320)
Closes DOCS-1203 ## Problem The docs E2E workflow only ever tested one hardcoded page: the Next.js quickstart. All other docs content had no E2E coverage. ## Solution This PR expands the initial scaffolding to generalize the Next.js quickstart tests, page runs and checks local links, to all pages affecting Docs content: - Add `resolveDocsScope` (`e2e/docs/utils/resolve-docs-scope.ts`) to map changed guide and troubleshooting `.mdx` files to their `/docs/...` page paths, and to expand changed `_partials` to every page that includes them (including transitively, through partials nested inside other partials). Federated guide sections (`graphql`, `database/extensions/wrappers`, `ai/python`, `deployment/terraform`, `deployment/ci`) and reference docs stay out of scope, and resolution is capped at 20 pages to keep runtime bounded. - Replace the single `quickstarts.spec.ts` test with a generic `docs-pages.spec.ts` that loads whatever pages are resolved, asserting each renders with an `
` and that its docs-owned links resolve. - Add `run-e2e-docs.ts` so `pnpm e2e:docs` resolves scope locally (from commits since `origin/master`, plus staged/unstaged changes) and skips Playwright entirely when nothing in scope changed. - Update `.github/workflows/docs-e2e.yml` to widen the trigger paths to all guides/troubleshooting/partials, resolve scope in a dedicated step, skip the rest of the job when scope is empty, and accept a `page_paths` input for manual `workflow_dispatch` runs. - Rewrite `e2e/docs/README.md` to document the new scoping behavior, the override envs (`DOCS_E2E_PAGE_PATHS`, `DOCS_E2E_BASE_REF`), and how CI uses the suite. - `pnpm e2e:docs:all` is also added to run tests on every page locally. Good for scoping issues but should not be included in CI. ## Manual testing Walk through the following steps to verify this works: - [x] `pnpm e2e:docs` from repo root resolves the expected pages for a local guide edit and can run against local dev **Note:** Challenges with testing on local in part because of the long lag for first page load. Recommendation to use a hosted URL is added to docs. - [x] Editing a shared `_partials` file resolves to every page that includes it (including through nested partials) - [x] `pnpm e2e:docs` exits cleanly with no Playwright run when no in-scope files changed - [x] `git diff --name-only ... | pnpm -C e2e/docs resolve-docs-scope` prints the expected page list for a sample diff - [x] Workflow run on a PR that only touches `e2e/docs`/workflow files skips the Playwright steps - [x] Manual `workflow_dispatch` run with `page_paths` set tests only those pages - [x] Run `pnpm e2e:docs:all` to run the suite on all docs content, which takes awhile ## Next steps After this PR merges, we have the scaffolding to add more fun tests like a11y 😁 ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added scoped Docs E2E runs that target eligible doc pages based on changes, plus manual page-targeted runs and an “all eligible pages” mode. * Introduced `DOCS_E2E_PAGE_PATHS` (and updated base ref/base URL behavior) to control which pages are tested. * **Bug Fixes** * Automatically skips Playwright setup when no relevant pages are in scope; Playwright reporting now uploads only on failure. * **Documentation** * Updated the Docs E2E README with new run/CI behavior, troubleshooting notes, and commands to inspect the resolved page list. * **Tests** * Added a Docs-owned pages E2E suite; removed the Next.js quickstart E2E spec. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(ui-patterns): fix admonition self-import + add case-sensitivity guard (#48344)
Fixes the TanStack Studio app failing to load locally, and adds a CI guard so the same class of bug can't come back. `packages/ui-patterns/src/admonition.tsx` is a back-compat shim containing `export * from './Admonition'`. On a case-insensitive filesystem (macOS, Windows) the resolver tries `./Admonition.tsx` before the directory index — and that's the same file. The shim re-exported itself and exported nothing, so every consumer of `ui-patterns/admonition` blew up with `does not provide an export named 'Admonition'`, plus knock-on Vite dep-optimizer errors about missing chunks. It works on Linux, so typecheck, lint, build and tests all pass on CI. This only reproduces on dev machines. **Changed:** - `admonition.tsx` now points at `./Admonition/index` explicitly, so the specifier can't resolve back to itself **Added:** - `scripts/check-case-hazards.mjs` — dependency-free, two textual checks so they fire on Linux CI: - **Self-resolving imports**: for `dir/X.tsx`, flags any extension-less relative specifier resolving to `dir/X` case-insensitively - **Case-colliding paths**: tracked paths (files and directory prefixes) equal when lowercased, which can't coexist in a case-insensitive checkout - `pnpm test:case-hazards`, plus a step in `typecheck.yml` after `setup-node` but before `pnpm install` — no deps needed, fails fast Scoped check 1 to genuine self-imports rather than all case-insensitive file/directory ambiguity. The broader rule lights up ~45 legitimate routing pairs (`_app.tsx` + `_app/`, `changelog.tsx` + `changelog/`) and would get switched off within a week. This version has zero false positives on master today. ## Follow-up (not in this PR) The underlying duplication is still there: `src/admonition.tsx` and `src/Admonition/` both exist, and the ~14 internal `'../Admonition'` imports inside the package resolve through the shim on macOS but through the directory on Linux. Two resolution paths for one module is exactly what produced this. Real fix is to collapse it. Current counts: **246** files import `ui-patterns/admonition`, **0** import `ui-patterns/Admonition`. So either rename the directory to lowercase and delete the shim (zero import churn, but one lowercase dir among ~50 PascalCase siblings), or codemod the 246 imports to PascalCase to match the package convention. I'd lean to the codemod, on a day it won't conflict with in-flight branches. ## To test - `pnpm test:case-hazards` on master → passes, ~16.5k files checked - Revert `admonition.tsx` to `export * from './Admonition'` and re-run → fails with the offending file and the suggested fix - Confirm the fixed form `'./Admonition/index'` is *not* flagged - With the fix in place: `rm -rf apps/studio/node_modules/.vite`, then `STUDIO_FRAMEWORK=tanstack pnpm dev:studio` → app loads, no `Pre-transform error` and no missing-export error in the console ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Improved detection of file-path casing issues that could cause failures on case-insensitive systems. * Corrected a module re-export to ensure the intended UI component is exposed consistently. * **Tests** * Added a dedicated case-sensitivity hazard check. * Integrated the check into the type-check workflow for earlier issue detection. --------- Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix: resolve mgmt api specs $refs manually to handle circular error (#48281)
## I have read the CONTRIBUTING.md file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Bug fix.
## What is the current behavior?
`api_v2_openapi.json` has a circular reference (`APIErrorObject.issues`
→ `APIErrorObject`), which Redocly can't flatten with `--dereferenced`
("Detected circular reference which can't be converted to JSON"). This
breaks the [weekly docs update
workflow](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/actions/runs/29709444085/job/88251269807).
## What is the new behavior?
- Drop `--dereferenced` from `dereference.api.v1` (both v1 and v2, for
consistency)
- Add a `resolveRefs` helper in `Reference.script.ts` that manually
inlines `$refs`, leaving cycles as an unresolved `$ref` instead of
expanding infinitely
- This also fix the mgmt api update workflow so manual dispatch runs
against the selected branch, by changing checkout `ref` from hardcoded
`master` to `${{ github.ref }}`.
## Additional context
Also fixes `pnpm exec redocly` → `npx --package=@redocly/cli redocly` in
the same Makefile, an unrelated pnpm 11 recursive-exec bug hit while
debugging this workflow.

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Chores**
* Updated API specification bundling and linting commands to use the
current Redocly CLI invocation style.
* Improved documentation processing behavior for dereferenced specs,
including guidance around circular references.
* Preserved existing generated specification outputs and validation
settings.
* **Chores**
* Updated the Mgmt API docs automation workflow formatting (YAML string
quoting and schedule/input values).

fix(docs) Add smoke test for local development without credentials (#48218)
Closes DOCS-1210 Closes DOCS-1209 #48226 needs to merge first for CI failure ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Test coverage and several small bug fixes discovered during implementation. ## What is the current behavior? Nothing verified that `pnpm run dev:docs` keeps working without private credentials. We value this command working, especially for community contributors. However, this issue can go undetected by employees at Supabase since many of us have credentials in place. We do not want this to go a week before finding and fixing like in the previous instance. ## What is the new behavior? - **New Playwright test suite**: `e2e/docs/local-smoke/no-credentials.spec.ts` boots the docs dev server with zero GitHub App/Supabase secrets and checks 5 routes covering each known failure point. - **CI**: a new `local-dev-smoke` job in `docs-tests.yml` runs this suite with no credentials configured. ## Additional bugs resolved Setting up this test exposed other issues that are fixed in this PR: - **Troubleshooting.utils.ts crash** — Unguarded Supabase call pattern, crashing every troubleshooting article. Added the same guard as previous fixes. - **Missing manifest.json** — middleware.ts statically imports public/markdown/manifest.json, which is gitignored and only generated by a build step that's skipped in local dev. On a fresh checkout it doesn't exist, so middleware fails to compile and takes down every page. Fixed by committing a placeholder [] (real builds still regenerate the full file). - **Phantom @code-hike/mdx import** — apps/docs/app/layout.tsx imported @code-hike/mdx/styles.css, but only apps/www actually declares that dependency. Worked by accident whenever both apps were installed together; broke in CI's docs-only install. Turned out to be dead code (nothing in docs actually uses code-hike), so fixed by deleting the unused imports rather than adding the dependency. ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added a credential-free “local smoke” end-to-end test suite for key documentation routes. * **Bug Fixes** * Improved troubleshooting behavior when required external service credentials are missing. * Updated federated “wrappers” documentation pages to gracefully show a fallback message when external content can’t be fetched. * **Tests** * Added a dedicated local-smoke Playwright runner and enhanced CI path-based triggering and reporting (failure-focused artifacts). * **Chores** * Refined docs workflow path filters and adjusted docs markdown manifest/ignore rules for generated content. |

feat(studio): add tanstack variant to the studio docker image (#48091)
Makes the self-hosted Docker image buildable with the TanStack/Vite
build alongside the existing Next one. The Dockerfile's new
`STUDIO_FRAMEWORK` build arg (default: `next`) selects which framework
lands in the image — the same variable `scripts/dispatch.js` keys on
everywhere else, so `--build-arg STUDIO_FRAMEWORK=tanstack` is the
docker spelling of the existing switch. Both flavors assemble a
normalized `/srv` tree, so a single production stage serves either with
the same CMD (`node apps/studio/server.js`), port 3000, and healthcheck.
Unlike Next's self-contained standalone output, the Vite SSR bundle
externalizes studio's dependencies and resolves them from `node_modules`
at request time, so the tanstack runtime tree is a prod-only `pnpm
deploy` plus the built `dist/`. The boot smoke test runs a second time
against that pruned tree, so a runtime import that's missing from
`dependencies` fails the image build instead of 500ing the deployed
container — which is exactly how this PR caught four packages
misclassified as devDependencies (`braintrust` +
`@smithy/property-provider` via the AI routes, `libpg-query` via the
parse-query API route, `@radix-ui/react-use-escape-keydown` via the
Queues panel; split into its own commit).
**Changed:**
- `apps/studio/Dockerfile`: `ARG STUDIO_FRAMEWORK` selects `build-next`
/ `build-tanstack` stages via `FROM build-${STUDIO_FRAMEWORK}`; both
normalize into one production layout
- `apps/studio/package.json`: moved the four runtime-imported packages
from devDependencies to dependencies (versions unchanged)
- `apps/studio/vite.config.ts`: pinned `preview.host` to `127.0.0.1` —
the prerender step boots `vite preview` and crawls its resolved URL, and
the default `localhost` host lets the server bind the IPv6 loopback
while the crawler fetches `127.0.0.1`, which ECONNREFUSEDs the whole
build inside BuildKit containers
- `.github/workflows/studio-docker-build.yml`: builds the tanstack image
as a second step (reuses the first build's layer cache; job name
unchanged)
**Added:**
- `build:studio:docker:tanstack` root script
Note: the tanstack image is ~2.0GB vs ~1.2GB for Next (externalized
`node_modules`); shrinking it via file tracing is a follow-up. Nothing
self-hosters pull changes until a tanstack-built image is published —
this makes it buildable and CI-checked.
## To test
- `pnpm build:studio:docker` then run the image against a stack —
behavior unchanged (healthcheck `/api/platform/profile` 200, `/` 307s to
`/project/default`)
- `pnpm build:studio:docker:tanstack` then run that image with the same
env — same healthcheck, redirect, and data endpoints (projects, pg-meta)
respond 200; browser loads Project Overview / Table Editor with no
requests leaving the container
- Both verified locally against the CLI stack (`host.docker.internal`
env, container reports `healthy`)
- Vercel + e2e checks on this PR exercise the `preview.host` change on
their runners

fix(docs ci): stop docs-e2e from polling the broken GitHub Deployments API (#48226)
## Summary
- `vercel/wait-for-deployment-action` in
[docs-e2e.yml](.github/workflows/docs-e2e.yml) polls GitHub's
Deployments API for a `Preview – docs` deployment, but Vercel's GitHub
App has not written a GitHub Deployment object repo-wide since
2026-02-17 (broken app auth). The step times out after 900s on every PR
that touches `apps/docs`, even though the preview build itself succeeds
(`Vercel – docs` commit status is green).
- Replace the wait step with a custom poll of the `Vercel – docs` commit
status (which Vercel keeps posting correctly), then resolve the actual
preview URL via Vercel's own deployments API (`GET
/v13/deployments/{id}`) using the deployment ID embedded in the commit
status's `target_url`, reusing the existing `VERCEL_TOKEN` /
`VERCEL_TEAM_ID` secrets.
- Drops the now-unused `deployments: read` permission.
## Context
Reported in Slack:
https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C023E4L60R3/p1784721725606599?thread_ts=1784658589.182079&cid=C023E4L60R3
(surfaced by [#48178](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/48178)
failing on this step — [run
29916797889](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/actions/runs/29916797889?pr=48178)).
Agreed workaround from that thread: swap the wait step to poll the
`Vercel – docs` commit status instead of the Deployments API.
## Test plan
- [ ] Confirm this workflow run (triggered by this PR since it edits
`apps/docs/**`... actually this PR only touches the workflow file, so
verify via `workflow_dispatch` or a follow-up PR touching
`apps/docs/**`) passes the "Wait for Vercel docs preview" step and
resolves a working `deployment-url`
- [ ] Confirm downstream Playwright E2E run against the resolved preview
URL succeeds
- [ ] Confirm the step still fails cleanly (clear error, no silent hang)
if the Vercel deployment itself fails

feat(docs) Add scaffolding and CI/CD step for Docs Playwright (#48120)
Closes DOCS-1197 ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## Problem We do not have any E2E testing established. ## Solution This PR creates an ultra-lean starting place for Docs Playwright: - A CI/CD step that skips on draft and relies on Preview for testing - One simple broken link check for one page The goal: - Playwright is implemented where we want it, with an architecture we want, with set-up steps we can build from The anti-goal of this PR: - We have meaningful tests running ## CI/CD steps 1. Checkout a thin slice of the repo (`apps/docs`, `packages`, `patches`). 2. Wait for the Vercel **docs** preview for that commit SHA. 3. Use that preview URL as `PLAYWRIGHT_BASE_URL`. 4. Install Node deps and Chromium. 5. Run `pnpm run e2e:docs` (`--grep @quickstart`). 6. If anything fails, upload the HTML report + traces. Manual runs skip the Vercel wait and default to `https://supabase.com` (or whatever URL you enter), then run the full suite (`pnpm run e2e`). ## What the test checks Because this PR is scaffolding, it is doing something very basic: 1. Opens `/docs/guides/getting-started/quickstarts/nextjs` only if a connected file was edited in CI/CD step 2. Asserts the page loaded and the H1 is visible. 3. Collects docs-owned `/docs/**` links from `#sb-docs-guide-main-article`. 4. HTTP-checks each link (no full navigation) and soft-fails so every broken link is reported. Config keeps it cheap: Chromium only, 1 worker, 2 CI retries, failure screenshots/traces. ## Docs vs Studio/Dashboard The setup of Docs Playwright differs from Studio. | | Docs E2E | Studio E2E | |---|---|---| | Location |`e2e/docs/` | `e2e/studio/` | | What it tests | One published docs page + its links | Many Studio UI flows (tables, auth, storage, …) | | Where the app runs | Already-deployed **Vercel preview** | Built and started **on the runner** | | Backend needed | None | Local Supabase via Docker | | Path filtering | Native `on.pull_request.paths` (skip whole workflow) | `dorny/paths-filter` after checkout (workflow starts, heavy steps gated) | | Parallelism | 1 worker, no shards | Matrix of frameworks × 2 shards | | Retries | 2 in CI | 5 in CI | | Reports | HTML report on failure | Blob reports per shard → merge → PR comment | | Draft handling | Explicit draft skip | No draft skip today | | Manual broader run | Yes (`workflow_dispatch`) | No | The big conceptual difference: **Studio owns the environment** (build Studio, start Supabase, hit `localhost`). **Docs borrows Vercel’s preview** and only asks “does this page and its docs links work on the deployed site?” ## Docs architecture justification The docs architecture is deliberately lightweight because docs are **static, published content served by Vercel**, not an interactive app with a backend. That single fact justifies every difference: - **Borrow the Vercel preview instead of building on the runner.** The preview is already the exact artifact users will see, and Vercel builds it for free on every PR. Rebuilding docs on the runner would duplicate that work and risk testing something different from what ships. Studio, by contrast, needs a running app plus a local Supabase, so it *has* to own its environment. - **No backend.** Docs pages don't need a database or auth to render, so there's nothing to spin up. This is what keeps the job cheap enough to run per-PR. - **Native `paths` filtering.** Since the job is cheap and self-contained, an all-or-nothing skip at the workflow level is sufficient—no need for `dorny/paths-filter` to gate expensive setup steps mid-run like Studio does. - **Low parallelism and modest retries.** One page and its links is a tiny surface, so 1 worker is plenty and there's no sharding to coordinate. Retries exist only to absorb transient network flakiness against a live URL, hence 2 rather than Studio's 5 (which also cushions a heavier, stateful environment). - **Non-blocking + draft skip + manual dispatch.** As initial scaffolding checking link health on a deployed site, it should inform rather than gate merges, avoid burning minutes on drafts, and still be runnable on demand against production. In short: **Studio owns its environment because it must; docs borrows Vercel's preview because it can.** The scope is intentionally minimal today. ## Testing 1. Break a docs-owned link in the Next.js quickstart. 1. Follow README instructions to set up and run e2e docs test. 1. Confirm the suite fails. 1. Restore the broken link and re-run. 1. Confirm the suite **passes** (`1 passed`). ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Summary - **New Features** - Added a GitHub Actions workflow to run Playwright docs end-to-end tests on PRs and via manual dispatch (with optional base URL), including docs-preview waiting and concurrency cancellation. - **Documentation** - Added `e2e/docs` README with setup, how to run the suite (including UI/debug and single-spec), and how base URL selection works. - **Tests** - Added a quickstarts E2E spec that validates the page and soft-checks docs-owned links resolve. - **Chores** - Added shared Playwright configuration/package scripts and an `e2e/docs` `.gitignore` for test outputs. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <175728472+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

chore: remove noisy dashboard PR-reminder workflow (#48142)
_Requested by **Ivan Vasilov** · [Slack thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C0161K73J1J/p1784635673434979)_ ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Chore / cleanup — removes a scheduled GitHub Actions workflow. ## What is the current behavior? The `Dashboard PR Reminder` workflow (`.github/workflows/dashboard-pr-reminder.yml`) runs on a schedule and posts a "Dashboard PRs Older Than 24 Hours" reminder to Slack. It has become too noisy — Jordi flagged that it fired 5 times in 3 days. The #team-frontend team agreed to remove it rather than reschedule it. ## What is the new behavior? The workflow and its exclusively-used supporting scripts are deleted, so the Slack reminder no longer runs. Files removed (each used exclusively by this workflow): - `.github/workflows/dashboard-pr-reminder.yml` — the reminder workflow itself. - `scripts/actions/find-stale-dashboard-prs.ts` — helper invoked only by this workflow's run step; not referenced anywhere else in the repo. - `scripts/actions/send-slack-pr-notification.ts` — helper invoked only by this workflow's run step; not referenced anywhere else in the repo. (This leaves `scripts/actions/` empty, so the directory is removed too.) No shared files were touched. The workflow's `sparse-checkout` of `scripts`/`patches`, `.nvmrc`, and `pnpm-lock.yaml` are repo-wide and remain in place. ## Additional context Verified via a full-repo grep that the two scripts and the workflow file are referenced nowhere outside this workflow before deleting them. --- _Generated by [Claude Code](https://claude.ai/code/session_01RynCtzP874KrpN8CPf7n7n)_ Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Ali Waseem <waseema393@gmail.com> |

chore(deps): bump actions/github-script from 7.1.0 to 9.0.0 (#47929)
Bumps [actions/github-script](https://github.com/actions/github-script) from 7.1.0 to 9.0.0. <details>
Release notes

Sourced from actions/github-script's releases.

v9.0.0

New features:

getOctokit
factory function — Available directly in the script context. Create additional authenticated Octokit clients with different tokens for multi-token workflows, GitHub App tokens, and cross-org access. See Creating additional clients with
getOctokit
for details and examples.

Orchestration ID in user-agent — The
ACTIONS_ORCHESTRATION_ID
environment variable is automatically appended to the user-agent string for request tracing.

Breaking changes:

require('@actions/github')
no longer works in scripts. The upgrade to
@actions/github
v9 (ESM-only) means
require('@actions/github')
will fail at runtime. If you previously used patterns like
const { getOctokit } = require('@actions/github')
to create secondary clients, use the new injected
getOctokit
function instead — it's available directly in the script context with no imports needed.

getOctokit
is now an injected function parameter. Scripts that declare
const getOctokit = ...
or
let getOctokit = ...
will get a
SyntaxError
because JavaScript does not allow
const
/
let
redeclaration of function parameters. Use the injected
getOctokit
directly, or use
var getOctokit = ...
if you need to redeclare it.

If your script accesses other
@actions/github
internals beyond the standard
github
/
octokit
client, you may need to update those references for v9 compatibility.

What's Changed

Add ACTIONS_ORCHESTRATION_ID to user-agent string by
@Copilot
in <a Skip fetchAgentSkills for www typecheck GHA (#47907)
### Context Our TS check GHA occasionally runs into GH rate limits because of `fetchAgentSkills` ### Changes involved - Opting to omit `fetchAgentSkills` for typecheck - `generateStaticContent` is needed still afaict - Allow GITHUB_TOKEN to be passed for `generateStaticContent` - And pass that env var from `typecheck.yml` ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Improvements** - Enhanced reliability of GitHub-powered content during site builds. - GitHub API requests now use secure authentication when a token is available, improving consistency and reducing rate-limit risk. - Repository star and agent-skill loading continues to work gracefully without token access. - **Chores** - Streamlined the type-check workflow to use a leaner content build before running TypeScript checks. - Passed the GitHub token through relevant CI task environments to enable authenticated requests. |

ci: add zizmor lint and harden GitHub Actions workflows (#47895)
## Summary - Add a zizmor config and CI job that lints `.github/workflows` on every PR touching it, downloading and attestation-verifying the pinned v1.26.1 release binary (cached across runs) - Fix the mutable-tag and excess-permission findings zizmor surfaces in `braintrust-evals.yml`, `publish_image.yml`, and `self-host-tests-smoke.yml`: pin `actions/checkout`/`actions/setup-node` to commit SHAs, and scope `pull-requests`/`packages`/`id-token` permissions down to the specific jobs that need them ## Test plan - [x] Confirm the `zizmor` job runs and passes on this PR ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added automated security scanning for workflow changes on pull requests. * Added configuration to allow specific workflow trigger exceptions. * **Security** * Tightened GitHub Actions permissions at the workflow level and re-granted only where required per job. * Pinned common build action versions to specific commits for more consistent execution. * **Maintenance** * Updated workflow caching and action step annotations without changing linting or fixing behavior. |

fix(ci): don't fail CI when Coveralls upload fails (#47883)
## Summary - Coveralls outages were putting a red X on PRs even when tests passed - Add `fail-on-error: false` and `continue-on-error: true` to the "Upload coverage results to Coveralls" step in `studio-unit-tests.yml` and `ui-tests.yml`, matching `supabase-js` behavior ## Test plan - [ ] Confirm both workflows run successfully on this PR - [ ] Confirm a simulated Coveralls upload failure no longer marks the step/job as failed Fixes FE-3908 ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Chores** * Improved the reliability of automated test workflows by allowing coverage-report uploads to fail without interrupting the overall workflow. * Existing coverage reporting continues when the upload service is available. |
