refactor(studio): borrow the wire schema's time range in the query-source registry (#49070)
Second of a stack. **Stacked on #49069** — review that one first; this PR's diff only makes sense on top of it. Base will retarget to `master` automatically when #49069 merges. Net `-72` lines. No behavior change beyond the one noted at the bottom. ## The problem The query-source registry carried its own `LogTimeRange` type and `logTimeRangeSchema`, which had drifted from the notebook wire schema's copy in four ways: | | wire schema | registry | |---|---|---| | discriminant | `_tag: 'relative_time_range'` | `type: 'relative'` | | absolute bounds | `start` / `end` | `from` / `to` | | relative units | minute…year | minute, hour, day | | validation | none | positive int, end-after-start | Two definitions of one concept, neither convertible to the other without a lossy mapping — and the notebook query cell was papering over it by discarding a log cell's persisted range and substituting a default. ## What changed #49069 moved the validations onto the wire schema's `timeRangeSchema` and exported it. This PR deletes the registry's copy and points every consumer at `TimeRange`. The registry keeps what is genuinely runtime: endpoints, labels, availability, defaults. The field renames ripple mechanically through the logs date-picker helpers, the time-range submenu, `useLogsCustomRange`, the SQL editor's session state, and their tests. Coverage for the absolute-range and unit rules moved to `notebook-schema.test.ts` in #49069, alongside the schema that now owns them. `ExplorerQuerySourceMenu` also drops its hand-rolled custom-range construction in favor of `customDateRangeToLogTimeRange`, which already existed and does the same clamping. ## One behavior change `logTimeRangeToDatePickerValue` now renders a range whose unit has no picker preset (week, month, year — allowed by the wire schema, not offered in the UI) as a resolved absolute range, instead of trying and failing to build a helper for it. Previously unreachable, since the registry's narrower unit set made those ranges unrepresentable. ## Verification Typecheck, Prettier, and the lint ratchet clean. 401 tests pass across the notebook schema, query sources, the logs source components, the SQL editor, and the Explorer surfaces. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Improved log time-range handling across Explorer and SQL Editor. * Custom date ranges now display and resolve correctly, including clamping invalid ranges. * Unsupported relative time units are converted to compatible absolute date-picker values. * **Refactor** * Standardized log queries on a shared time-range format for more consistent validation and behavior. --------- Co-authored-by: Joshen Lim <joshenlimek@gmail.com> |

feat(studio): make the notebook wire schema the source of truth for query sources (#49069)
First of a stack. Groundwork only — additive, no behavior change, nothing else in the tree touched. The notebook content schema is the contract shared with the API and the agent tool surface, so it is where source parameters and their validation belong. A follow-up PR has the runtime query-source registry borrow from here instead of keeping its own parallel definitions, which had already drifted (different discriminant, different field names, a narrower set of relative units). ## What changed - **`timeRangeSchema` is exported**, and picks up the two validations that existed only in the registry's copy and not here: a positive integer `amount`, and an absolute range whose end follows its start. - **`databaseSourceSchema` / `logsSourceSchema`** give each backend's parameters a single definition. They are spread flat into their cells with `...shape` rather than nested under a `source` key, so the JSON an agent has to author stays shallow. - **`database_identifier`** lets a database cell persist a read-replica selection, which it previously had no field for. Named that rather than `identifier` because every cell already carries an `id`. - **`queryCellBaseSchema`** holds what every runnable cell shares (`title`, `view`, `chart`), which was duplicated across `database_cell` and `log_cell`. `sql` deliberately stays on the members so the domain transform can brand it per dialect and generic code holding a query cell can't hand it to the wrong wire boundary. - **`CELL_KINDS` + `isQueryCell`** classify cells for query-generic UI. The `satisfies Record<Cell['_tag'], CellKind>` clause makes this the registration point for a new backend: adding a cell type fails to compile until it is classified, and `QueryCell` widens on its own once it is. ## Wire compatibility The only wire shape change is the new optional `database_identifier`, so `schema_version` stays at 1 and no persisted content needs migrating. Notebooks are still behind the `explorer` flag, so there is no saved `user_content` to worry about either way. `view` keeps master's current handling — optional on the wire, defaulted to `'table'` in the domain transform — and `chart` stays persisted independently of it, so switching to the table view and back returns the user's chart settings rather than rebuilding them. ## Tests `notebook-schema.test.ts` covers the new validations (unit set, non-positive/fractional amounts, absolute ordering, which field an invalid bound is reported against), `database_identifier`, `isQueryCell` narrowing, and that a chart survives alongside `view: 'table'`. Typecheck, Prettier, and the lint ratchet all clean; 120 tests pass across `data/content/notebooks` and `lib/ai/tools`. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added support for database identifiers in notebook query configurations. - Improved handling of database and log query cells for more consistent notebook behavior. - Preserved chart configuration when switching to a table view. - **Bug Fixes** - Time ranges now require valid dates, positive whole-number relative amounts, and correctly ordered absolute start and end times. - Validation errors now identify the specific time-range field with invalid date values. - **Tests** - Expanded coverage for query-cell detection, time-range validation, optional database identifiers, and chart settings. |

fix(studio): harden Explorer query persistence (#49039)
## Summary - debounce draft persistence and flush pending edits when the page exits - validate untrusted local storage with Zod, recover from malformed entries, and retain the 50 most recently updated drafts - harden route restoration, recent-item routing, close confirmation, and local cleanup - disable execution while project or replica data is resolving and fail closed for missing replicas - use an HTTP-safe UUID generator for self-hosted Studio - adopt the upstream Explorer toolbar title API - expand component and state coverage for persistence and execution behavior ## To test 1. Open Explorer, select **Run SQL**, then enter SQL and rename the query. 2. Reload the page and confirm the draft is restored; close its tab and confirm it is discarded after the prompt. ## Why This layer makes local-only Explorer drafts resilient to rapid edits, reloads, stale browser data, and tab lifecycle edge cases. ## Impact Queries remain local-only, and closing their tabs discards them after confirmation. Save-as-notebook functionality remains intentionally out of scope. ## Validation - fresh non-incremental Studio TypeScript check - 68 Vitest tests pass across Explorer, query sources, tabs layout, and query/tab state - Studio ESLint ratchet and Prettier check both clean ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Explorer query drafts now save automatically and restore reliably across navigation, tab closures, page exits, and visibility changes. - Recent query items now open directly to their associated Explorer query. - Logs time-range selections are handled consistently, including custom ranges and preset matching. - **Bug Fixes** - Prevented stale query loading states when switching between queries. - Improved handling of invalid or outdated saved drafts. - Limited saved drafts to the 50 most recently updated queries. |

docs: point explain and rpc reference links at their current pages (#48655)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Docs fix (broken links). ## What is the current behavior? Three links in two troubleshooting entries point at `/docs/reference/javascript/explain`, which returns 404. That slug is not in the docs sitemap any more. Two of the three are not explain links at all. In `fixing-520-errors-in-the-database-rest-api-Ur5-B2.mdx` the link text is "RPCs" and "RPC" and the query string asks for `example=call-a-postgres-function-with-arguments`, so both were meant to point at the `rpc` reference. The third, in `understanding-postgresql-explain-output-Un9dqX.mdx`, really is about explain: the text is "EXPLAIN" and it asks for `example=get-execution-plan-with-analyze-and-verbose`. ## What is the new behavior? - the two "RPC" links now point at `/docs/reference/javascript/rpc` - the "EXPLAIN" link now points at `/docs/reference/javascript/using-modifiers-explain` Both destinations return 200. The `queryGroups` and `example` query strings are carried over unchanged, I only changed the slug. ## Additional context Files: - `apps/docs/content/troubleshooting/fixing-520-errors-in-the-database-rest-api-Ur5-B2.mdx` (2 links, to `rpc`) - `apps/docs/content/troubleshooting/understanding-postgresql-explain-output-Un9dqX.mdx` (1 link, to `using-modifiers-explain`) What I verified: `/docs/reference/javascript/explain` returns 404, and both `/docs/reference/javascript/rpc` and `/docs/reference/javascript/using-modifiers-explain` return 200 and appear in the sitemap. After the change there are no `javascript/explain?` references left in `apps/docs/content`. What I could not verify, so I am flagging it rather than claiming it: I could not confirm server side that the `example=` ids still exist on the destination pages, because the reference pages appear to build their example selectors client side and the ids are not in the fetched HTML. I kept each existing `example=` value as it was, on the basis that an unmatched example parameter just leaves the default selection rather than breaking the page, which is still better than the current 404. If you know those example ids have been renamed too, tell me and I will update them in the same PR. This was the one case I deliberately left out of #48568, where I said the intended target looked ambiguous. Looking at it again, the link text and the example parameter agree with each other in all three cases, so the mapping is clearer than I first thought. Gates run locally: `test:prettier` passes repo wide and the docs vitest suite passes (22 files, 169 tests, 1 file and 2 tests skipped). I did not run a build: `pnpm build` needs `DOCS_GITHUB_APP_PRIVATE_KEY` for the docs `build:federated-content` step, which I do not have, and it fails before Next compiles. Freshman contributor here, working through these with Claude Code's help and checking each URL myself. Happy to change any of the targets if you would rather they went elsewhere. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Documentation** * Updated database REST API troubleshooting links for RPC guidance. * Corrected the Supabase JavaScript EXPLAIN documentation link. Co-authored-by: Pamela Chia <pamelachiamayyee@gmail.com> |

fix: use shared favicon metadata so the tab icon isn't blurry on hi-dpi (#48770)
_Requested by **Matt Rossman, Ali Waseem** · [Slack thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C0161K73J1J/p1785960993618839?thread_ts=1785960993.618839&cid=C0161K73J1J)_ ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Bug fix. ## What is the current behavior? The Supabase logo in the browser tab looks blurry on high-DPI displays on supabase.com, but sharp on the dashboard. Same logo, same asset files — only the marketing site looks soft. Separately, `genFaviconData()` points one of its `
` tags at `favicon-128x128.png`, a file that no app in the repo ships. That is a live 404 on docs, learn and ui-library today — and on design-system, which hardcodes its own copy of the same icon list. ## What is the new behavior? The tab icon is sharp on both, and the 404 is gone everywhere. ## Additional context **How.** `apps/www/app/layout.tsx` hardcoded a Next.js `metadata.icons` block that pointed `icon`, `shortcut` and `apple` all at `/favicon/favicon.ico`. That `.ico` contains a single 16x16 layer, so on a 2x display the browser has no 32px candidate to choose and upscales the 16x16 — hence the blur. It only affects App Router routes, which now includes the homepage, `/blog`, `/pricing` and the product pages; www's remaining Pages Router routes already went through the shared component and were fine. www was not using the shared `genFaviconData()` helper from `common/MetaFavicons/app-router`, which docs, learn and ui-library all do. Swapping it in makes www advertise the same 16/32/48/96/128/180/196 PNG ladder the dashboard does, so the browser picks the 32px PNG on a 2x display. The argument is `''` because www serves from the site root (`basePath: ''` in `next.config.mjs`). **Second, related change.** `packages/common/MetaFavicons/app-router.ts` referenced `favicon-128x128.png`; the asset is `favicon-128.png` in every app's `public/favicon/` (the pages-router variant of the helper already had it right). Fixed to match. Without this, wiring www up to the helper would have added a fourth app to the existing 404. **Third, related change.** `apps/design-system/app/layout.tsx` had its own inline copy of `genFaviconData` — byte-identical to the shared one except that it still pointed at `favicon-128x128.png`, so fixing the shared helper alone would have left design-system 404ing. Replaced the 91-line inline copy with the shared import, passing the app's existing `BASE_PATH` (which mirrors `basePath` in its `next.config.mjs`) the same way docs, learn and ui-library do. That removes the last hardcoded icon list among the App Router apps, so the filename can't drift back out of sync. No favicon image assets were added or changed — every file the helper references already exists in both `apps/www/public/favicon/` and `apps/design-system/public/favicon/`. **Possible follow-up.** `favicon.ico` itself is single-layer 16x16 in both www and studio (byte-identical files). Regenerating it as a multi-resolution ICO with 16/32/48 layers would help any consumer that only reads the `.ico` — bookmark bars, some browser surfaces, and notably supabase.com/evals, which is a rewrite to a separate Vercel app and so won't pick up this layout change, but does resolve root-relative icon hrefs against www's `public/`. Left out here because it touches studio's assets too and is a separate call. --- _Generated by [Claude Code](https://claude.ai/code/session_01F2AZs625JxKASYVAj8LWYq)_ --------- Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> |

test(studio): add get_notebook eval cases (FE-4088) (#49067)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature (test coverage) — second PR of the notebooks-evals plan, covering FE-4088 (Evals: Assistant can read notebook). Follows #49010 (FE-4086, list_notebooks). ## What is the current behavior? `dataset.ts` has no coverage for `get_notebook`. Separately, `NOTEBOOKS_PROMPT` only covers *choosing* between `create_notebook`, `update_notebook`, and `execute_sql` — it says nothing about reading or describing an existing notebook. ## What is the new behavior? **Eval cases** (`evals/dataset.ts`), three of them: - Resolve a notebook by name via `list_notebooks`, then `get_notebook`, and report the queries it actually contains. - Summarize a smaller, single-log-cell notebook as a baseline. - Report a nonexistent notebook id as not found instead of hallucinating contents. The mock's `execute` throws, which the AI SDK surfaces to the model as a `tool-error` part rather than failing the eval task. No new scorers or tool changes — `toolUsageScorer` and `correctnessScorer` already cover these, and `get_notebook` has unit coverage in `notebook-tools.test.ts`. **Prompt change** (`lib/ai/prompts.ts`) — please review this one separately, it's the only production behavior change here: Running the first case surfaced a real gap. The assistant transcribed each cell's SQL correctly but was inconsistent about the configuration that changes what a cell returns — dropping the log cell's time range in some runs, miscounting markdown cells as queries in others. Adds one bullet to `NOTEBOOKS_PROMPT` telling it to report a query cell's configuration and not count markdown cells as queries. Gated behind the Explorer flag, same as the rest of that prompt. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added notebook evaluation scenarios for database and log queries, including concise summaries and nonexistent notebook handling. * Improved notebook descriptions by reporting query configurations that affect returned results. * Markdown cells are now excluded from query counts. |

Add source selector for explorer query tab (#49063)
## Context This is just pulling out the relevant changes from https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/49028 as I might have messed up the stack while making changes down the PRs 🙏 Builds on the Query Tab in the Explorer UI, adds the source selector component to run either a database query or a logs query - will subsequently be looking into have the source selector component in the QueryCell as well (within notebooks) ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added query-source selection for Explorer and notebook queries. - Supports log queries, database selection, and read-replica connections. - Added validation for custom log time ranges and retention limits, with upgrade guidance when applicable. - Query source choices are saved and restored across sessions. - Changing sources clears previous results to prevent stale data. - **Bug Fixes** - Improved handling of unavailable log querying and missing database connections. - Legacy saved queries now fall back safely to the default database source. |

joshen/fe 4149 explorer support adding removing cells in notebook (#49037)
## Context Related to Explorer/Notebooks - this PR adds the functionality to add / remove cells Separately - am thinking we can shift a lot of the "cell update" logic into notebook-state, mainly so that each UI component doesn't need to be aware of the notebook's `cells` but just its own cell. I'll do it separately though to prevent bloating this PR, already left comments where i think can be refactored ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## New Features - Add query and Markdown cells directly within notebooks. - Move, remove, and reorder cells using drag-and-drop or cell controls. - Add cells from empty states and notebook toolbar actions. - Edit Markdown cells, mark edits as complete, and see placeholders for empty content. ## Improvements - Cell controls and hover interactions are more consistent and responsive. - Moving cells is disabled at the top or bottom of a notebook. - Sample cells now use standardized content and formatting. |

fix(docs): accept a GitHub token for docs content reads (#48364)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Bug fix. Complete App configurations produce the same auth options as before. ## What is the current behavior? Without the docs GitHub App private key, two things fail for a contributor: - `pnpm run embeddings` aborts before doing any work. The lint warnings source throws, and every source shares one `Promise.all` in [`fetchAllSources()`](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/scripts/search/sources/index.ts). - `pnpm --filter docs build` exits 1 in prebuild, so the `npm run build` pre-flight CONTRIBUTING.md asks for cannot run either: ``` Error: DOCS_GITHUB_APP_PRIVATE_KEY environment variable is required at octokit (apps/docs/lib/octokit.ts:21:13) at fetchAiSkills (apps/docs/scripts/federated-content/fetch-federated-content.ts:258:36) ``` Both read public content, so this is a rate-limit guard rather than access control: App auth landed in #43015 because unauthenticated calls (60 req/hr per IP) went flaky on shared runners. ## What is the new behavior? `apps/docs/lib/octokit.auth.ts` adds one rung below the App: a token from `GH_TOKEN`, then `GITHUB_TOKEN` (the precedence [`gh help environment`](https://cli.github.com/manual/gh_help_environment) documents), so `export GH_TOKEN=$(gh auth token)` is enough to build locally. Still authenticated, so #43015's fix holds, and still an authenticated Octokit client, so #44274 holds. A partially configured App is now an error naming the missing vars, rather than falling through to a token. Used by the lint warnings loader and `lib/octokit.ts`. The two token vars are declared in `apps/docs/turbo.jsonc` for `turbo/no-undeclared-env-vars`. ## Additional context With only `GH_TOKEN` set, `turbo run build --filter=docs --force` passes 4/4 and search-index source loading completes. `pnpm test` passes (20 files, 164 tests), and `tsc --noEmit` plus `pnpm run lint` match `origin/master`. For a complete App config the auth options are identical to before. Happy to post the fuller verification as a comment. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added flexible GitHub authentication for documentation services, supporting GitHub App credentials or personal access tokens. - GitHub App authentication is preferred when fully configured, with token-based fallback when unavailable. - Added support for both `GH_TOKEN` and `GITHUB_TOKEN`, with clear precedence rules. - **Bug Fixes** - Improved configuration validation with clear errors for missing or incomplete authentication settings. - Standardized authentication across GitHub content and lint-warning retrieval. |

feat(studio): add Explorer query tabs (#49038)
## Stack Depends on #49041. Followed by #49028. ## Summary - add a dedicated ad-hoc query tab type and route under Explorer - connect query tabs to the shared `QueryEditor` through a `QueryTab` lifecycle adapter - add local query draft/result state and restore query tabs from their routes - confirm before closing populated local-only drafts and clean up their state on close ## To test 1. Open Explorer, select **Run SQL**, enter `select 1`, and run the query. 2. Rename the query, reload the page, then close the tab and confirm the discard prompt appears. ## Why Explorer needs a lightweight place to run SQL without creating a snippet. This layer adds the query-tab lifecycle on top of the shared editor foundation. ## Impact Queries in this layer run against the selected project's primary database. Drafts are local to the browser and are discarded when their tabs are closed. ## Validation - fresh non-incremental Studio TypeScript check - 22 focused tests across query draft state, tab state, and notebook tab registration ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added support for creating, opening, editing, and running SQL queries in Explorer. * Added project-scoped persistence for query drafts and results. * Added dedicated query routes, query icons, and query tabs. * Added unsaved-changes warnings when closing query tabs. * Added a pinned Explorer Home tab and “New query” option. * Improved notebook tab registration and editor tab organization. * **Bug Fixes** * Improved tab navigation, closing behavior, and layout. * **Tests** * Added coverage for query persistence, cleanup, restoration, and tab navigation. --------- Co-authored-by: Joshen Lim <joshenlimek@gmail.com> |

fix(studio): focus state for buttons with dropdown (#49055)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? We've quite a few instances where some buttons have a dropdown appendage. The focus state for these were broken as well as visually regarding the separator. refactor(studio): share Explorer query editor (#49041)
## Stack Depends on #49027. Followed by #49038. ## Summary - extract a controlled `QueryEditor` from the existing notebook query cell - reuse it from `QueryCell`, leaving notebook persistence and sortable-block behavior in the adapter - make table/chart result settings controlled so other query surfaces can share them - persist notebook SQL on editor blur and query execution ## To test 1. Open a notebook query cell, edit and rename it, then run the query and confirm results appear. 2. Switch between table and chart results and confirm notebook move/delete actions still work. ## Why Notebooks, query tabs, and future chat tabs need consistent query actions and result rendering without duplicating the notebook implementation. ## Impact This is primarily a refactor of the existing notebook query experience. It introduces no new query-tab routes or source-selection behavior. ## Validation - fresh non-incremental Studio TypeScript check - focused NotebookEditor component tests ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added a shared query editor with SQL editing, execution, validation, visibility controls, editable titles, row limits, and loading/error states. * Added table and chart result views, including customizable bar and line charts. * Added support for switching display modes and updating chart settings. * **Improvements** * Improved query result handling and display-setting updates. * Repositioned the logarithmic-scale tooltip for better visibility. --------- Co-authored-by: Joshen Lim <joshenlimek@gmail.com> |

refactor(studio): centralize query sources (#49027)
## Summary - define application-owned database and logs source contracts, defaults, validation, labels, and execution endpoints - extract controlled database and logs parameter controls for reuse outside SQL snippets - adapt the SQL editor to the shared source model without changing snippet behavior - standardize source icons at 16px with a 2px stroke - keep relative logs ranges aligned with the existing date picker units ## To test 1. Open an existing query in the SQL Editor and run it against the database. 2. Switch the query source to Logs, change the time range, and confirm the query still runs as expected. ## Why Explorer queries and notebook query cells need to select an execution source without coupling that source to SQL snippets. This provides the shared registry and controlled UI foundation for those consumers. ## Impact Existing SQL snippets retain their current database/logs routing and session behavior. The registry documents the SQL editor legacy database-selector adapter while new consumers own their identifier inline. The shared Logs date picker remains unchanged; query ranges support its existing minute, hour, and day units. This PR does not add the Explorer query tab itself. ## Validation - pnpm --filter studio typecheck - focused Vitest coverage for the registry, canonical log-range utilities, SQL execution adapters, source filtering, retention locking, custom ranges, and preset selection - pnpm --filter studio run lint:ratchet Component and state tests cover this change per the Studio testing guidance; no E2E test is added. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added a unified query-source menu for database queries and logs. * Added custom log time-range selection with calendar support and retention-aware upgrade prompts. * Added consistent source icons and improved database selection handling. * Added support for relative and absolute log time ranges. * **Bug Fixes** * Improved log-range validation, defaults, and current-time handling. * Updated query execution to use the correct source-specific endpoints. * **Tests** * Expanded coverage for query sources, log ranges, menus, and retention behavior. |

refactor: decouple assistant chat surfaces (#48973)
## Summary - extract the reusable assistant conversation body from the sidebar interface - drive shared chat rendering and mutations with an explicit chat ID - keep sidebar selection, shortcuts, SQL-editor context, and header controls in the sidebar wrapper - add selection-free chat creation and branching primitives while preserving existing sidebar helpers - add store tests for cross-surface selection and mutation isolation This is PR 1 of 3. joshen/fe 4150 explorer query cells result display settings (#49003)
## Context Related to Explorer / Notebooks - this adds chart functionality for the Query cells Query results can be rendered as either bar or line chart - using the chart packages from `ui-patterns` [NOTE]: For design team reviewers - am patching the chart packages to be agnostic to the `timestamp` property within the provided data set. Joshen/fe 4077 explorer query cells (#48989)
## Context Related to Explorer / Notebooks - adds a barebones query cell that minimally can run SQL queries + render results The intention is to migrate the components used in the SQL Editor into this new Query cell since all the functionality is very similar, but the SQL Editor component is tightly coupled to the SQL Editor valtio store. So we'll be duplicating a bit of UI for now - which will also make deprecating the SQL Editor eventually a bit easier by just deleting them Have deliberately omitted a lot of details for now just to keep the PRs small, so will be continuing to build out the QueryCell's functionality in subsequent PRs. This includes - Source selector - Data display (Table / Chart) - Autolimit logic Other changes also includes - Updating NotebookEditor to use the new Explorer UI components that Saxon introduced ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added notebook database cells for writing, editing, and running SQL queries. * Added query result displays with loading, empty, error, row-limit, and result states. * Added editable notebook titles with save and cancel controls. * New notebooks can start with customizable Markdown and SQL cells. * Added helpful SQL error actions, including copying messages, database connection guidance, and AI Assistant support where available. * **Improvements** * Improved notebook spacing, section layout, toolbar tooltips, and empty-result presentation. * Markdown changes now save automatically through the notebook editor. * Improved drag-and-drop controls and query visibility management. |

feat(skills): move Write the docs skills into the monorepo — DO NOT REVIEW YET (#48914)
## I have read the CONTRIBUTING.md file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Adds four AI agent skills that support docs contributors across the authoring lifecycle, intended to lower the barrier to entry for contributing to our docs. Closes DOCS-1287. ## What is the current behavior? Our process for writing docs is somewhat undefined beyond some general guidance in CONTRIBUTING.md and we don't make as easy to contribute to our docs as we could. As a result, content often needs additional changes during PR reviews or requires further revisions after merging. The four AI agent skills in this PR already existed in a private repo where I've been testing them but they were not previously available for general use until now. ## What is the new behavior? - Four skills added under `.agents/skills/`, symlinked from `.claude/skills/` and `.cursor/skills/` (same pattern as the existing `vitest` skill). - `ask-the-docs`: answers architecture and design questions about apps/docs (MDX pipeline, content components, federated docs) and checks whether a proposed change fits existing docs app patterns. - `write-the-docs`: drafts net-new or substantially rewritten docs content for a feature or launch, grounded in the Linear ticket, the actual code, and the docs style guide. - `review-the-docs`: runs a local, PR-type-specific review checklist against any open supabase/supabase docs PR (markdown pipeline, MDX content, tutorials, examples, Studio links) and produces a consolidated report. - `pm-the-docs`: supports "Write the docs" authoring process across the different phases. - `apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md` gets a new "AI agent skills for docs authoring" section mapping each skill to its checklist stage - Cross-references to skills that stay in `docs-agent-skills` (`work-linear-issue`, `audit-docs-ia`, `create-pull-request`, `proof-it-works`, `pm-the-docs-full`) now point there via absolute GitHub links instead of relative paths ## Additional context - Companion PR: [supabase/docs-agent-skills#28](https://github.com/supabase/docs-agent-skills/pull/28). Removes the three moved skills, renames `pm-the-docs` to `pm-the-docs-full`, and fixes now-dangling inbound links. - Worktree: `~/GitHub/supabase/supabase-worktrees/nikrichers/docs-1287-move-skills-mentioned-in-write-the-docs-from-docs-agent` - Opened as draft: this is a docs-authoring-tooling change with no runtime/build surface. Flip to ready once you've sanity-checked the skill content. ### Test plan - [ ] `ls -la .claude/skills/{ask-the-docs,pm-the-docs,write-the-docs,review-the-docs}` resolves to `.agents/skills/...` - [ ] Open a fresh Claude Code session with cwd in this repo and confirm `/ask-the-docs`, `/pm-the-docs`, `/write-the-docs`, `/review-the-docs` are available - [ ] Read the new section in [`apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md`](apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md) in context - [ ] Spot-check `.agents/skills/pm-the-docs/reference/write-the-docs-checklist.md` has no `linear.app` links and carries the snapshot disclaimer --------- Co-authored-by: Nik Richers <nik@validmind.ai> |

test(studio): add list_notebooks eval cases (FE-4086) (#49010)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature (test coverage) — first PR of the notebooks-evals plan, covering FE-4086 (Evals: Assistant can list notebooks). ## What is the current behavior? `dataset.ts` has zero notebook eval cases. Separately, two small gaps block writing them: `assistant.eval.ts` never sets `isExplorerEnabled`, so `NOTEBOOKS_PROMPT` never loads into the eval task's system prompt; and `list_notebooks`' `inputSchema` has no sort parameter, even though `getContent` already supports one, so "most recent" isn't answerable. ## What is the new behavior? - `assistant.eval.ts` passes `isExplorerEnabled: true` so `NOTEBOOKS_PROMPT` loads during evals. - `list_notebooks` gains a `sort_by: 'name' | 'inserted_at'` param, forwarded to `getContent`'s `sort`. Only creation order is exposed, since the underlying API has no `updated_at` sort key. - 3 new dataset cases: basic notebook enumeration, sorting by creation time (`sort_by`/`limit` args), and a nonexistent-notebook case guarding against hallucinated results. - A unit test covering `sort_by` forwarding to the content API's query param. ## Additional context ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added notebook sorting options when listing notebooks, including by name or insertion date. * Added evaluation coverage for listing notebooks, finding the newest notebook, and avoiding fabricated results for nonexistent notebooks. * **Bug Fixes** * Ensured selected notebook sorting preferences are correctly applied when retrieving content. * Improved assistant evaluation coverage with Explorer mode enabled. |

fix: Update supabase test docs to use _test.sql (#48993)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? The database testing docs currently show test files using the `.test.sql` suffix, but `supabase test new` generates `_test.sql` files. Both formats work, but the generator behavior matches the previous Go CLI implementation and existing test fixtures. Update the docs for consistency with the actual generated file naming. Relevant context: [database testing docs](<https://supabase.com/docs/guides/database/testing>) and [CLI-1318](<https://linear.app/supabase/issue/CLI-1318/port-supabase-test-db-supabase-test-new>). We might want to add `supabase test new` to the docs, but that's a separate change. ## What is the current behavior? It reports `.test.sql` ## What is the new behavior? it reports `_test.sql` inline with the generator ## Additional context [slack thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C07E5GFAHTM/p1786373594478619) - we can also add the test generator to the docs but I think that's a separate issue. |

test(studio): mock notebook tools (#48952)
## Summary - Adds deterministic `list_notebooks`/`get_notebook` fixtures (two seeded notebooks, each with markdown/database/log cells) and stateful in-memory `create_notebook`/`update_notebook` mocks to `apps/studio/lib/ai/tools/mock-tools.ts`, so Braintrust evals can exercise notebook tool calls without a real project. - Both write-tool mocks force `needsApproval: false`, matching the existing `execute_sql`/`deploy_edge_function` mock pattern — the eval harness filters out tool-parts in `'approval-requested'` state and can never answer an approval gate. - All four notebook tools are wrapped from the real `getNotebookTools()` definitions (only `execute`/`needsApproval` overridden), so evals validate the model's arguments against the exact production schemas. - Dedupes `describeOperationError` (previously duplicated between this new mock and `notebook-tools.ts`) into a single exported `describeNotebookOperationError` in `notebook-operations.ts`. **Stacked on #48949** (`feature/notebooks-update-tool`) — this PR's base branch is that PR, not `master`, because it reuses `update_notebook` and the shared error helper that only exist there. Merge #48949 first, then retarget/merge this one. ## Test plan - [x] \`pnpm --filter studio typecheck\` passes - [x] \`pnpm --filter studio test\` — all notebook-related suites pass (\`mock-tools.test.ts\`, \`notebook-tools.test.ts\`, \`data/content/notebooks/*\`) - [x] \`eslint\` / \`prettier --check\` clean on all touched files |

feat(studio): wire update_notebook tool (#48949)
## Summary - Adds `update_notebook`, an AI tool (`needsApproval: true`) that re-fetches a notebook, applies an ordered list of cell operations (insert/replace/delete/move, from `notebook-operations.ts`) via `applyNotebookOperations`, and PUTs the resolved content. Concurrent edits are last-write-wins, since re-fetching at execute time is the only mitigation per the RFC. - Registers `update_notebook` in `toolSetValidationSchema` / `TOOL_CATEGORY_MAP`, and documents it in the notebooks system prompt. - The untrusted→safe SQL promotion (`acceptUntrustedSql`/`acceptUntrustedLogsSql`) is inlined directly inside each `needsApproval: true` tool's own `execute` (both `create_notebook` and `update_notebook`), rather than behind a shared helper — kept auditable right next to the approval gate that authorizes it, and not reusable by an unrelated caller unaware it needs re-promotion. Resolves FE-4083 ## Test plan - [x] `notebook-tools.test.ts`: re-fetch → apply operations → PUT with promoted SQL; descriptive error (no PUT) when an operation targets an unknown cell id; `needsApproval` asserted for both create and update - [x] `pnpm vitest run` on `notebook-tools.test.ts`, `tools/index.test.ts`, `tool-filter.test.ts` — all pass - [x] `tsc --noEmit`, `eslint`, `prettier --check` — clean on all touched files ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * AI-assisted notebook editing now supports updating existing notebooks. * Notebook changes are refreshed before being applied to help preserve the latest content. * Updates report operation errors and return a summary of the modified notebook. * Notebook edits require user approval before being saved. * **Bug Fixes** * Invalid or unknown cell references are reported without applying a partial update. |

fix(studio): keep the new SQL editor tab from being pruned on first keystroke (#48956)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Bug fix.
## What is the current behavior?
With a snippet already open in the SQL Editor, clicking the `+` button
and typing in the new tab made it look like the previously open tab was
being taken over: the tab bar showed the *old* snippet's name while the
editor showed the newly typed content. With several tabs open, the
rightmost one appeared to be the one taken over.
`useSqlEditorTabsCleanup` prunes any `sql-*` tab whose snippet is absent
from the server-fetched snippet list, so tabs for snippets deleted in
another session don't linger. But a snippet created by typing in a new
tab exists only in the local store until its first save lands, so it is
legitimately absent from that list — and the same keystroke that creates
it calls `setSql({ shouldInvalidate: true })`, invalidating the snippet
lists and triggering a refetch that pruned the tab that had just been
opened.
`removeTab` then reassigns `activeTab` to a neighbor, so the tab bar
fell back to whichever tab was open before, while the URL, sidebar, and
editor content all stayed correctly on the new snippet — none of them
read from the tabs store.
Confirmed from a user's persisted tab state, which showed a single tab
in `openTabs` pointing at the previous snippet while the URL pointed at
the new one.
No snippet content was ever lost — this was tab state only.
## What is the new behavior?
Tabs (and recent items) whose snippet is present in the local store with
a never-persisted status (`new`, `new_saving`, `new_save_failed`) are
preserved by the cleanup pass. Genuine stale-tab pruning for snippets
removed outside the session is unaffected.
## Additional context
The regression test in `Tabs.utils.test.tsx` fails without the fix
(`expected undefined to be defined`) and passes with it. The
pre-existing pruning tests still pass, confirming legitimate cleanup
still works.
Also adds two tests covering adjacent invariants that were verified
while narrowing this down: snippet content isolation between tabs, and
unique snippet id generation across `/sql/new` navigations.
Verified: 343 tests pass across `components/layouts/Tabs` and
`components/interfaces/SQLEditor`; typecheck clean; ESLint warning count
unchanged (ratchet safe); Prettier clean.

feat(self-hosted): implement queryLogs for the MCP debugging tools (#48900)
> [!IMPORTANT] > > Only merge this when (https://github.com/supabase/platform/pull/36804) is merged, as the AI assistant will not have access to the `query_logs` tool for the remote MCP server ## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature (self-hosted / CLI Studio MCP server). ## What is the current behavior? Self-hosted `getDebuggingOperations` (`apps/studio/lib/api/self-hosted/mcp.ts`) implements only `getLogs`, so the MCP `debugging` group exposes `get_logs` — a fixed per-service log dump built by `getLogQuery`. Logs are served by Logflare, which speaks BigQuery SQL. ## What is the new behavior? Bumps `@supabase/mcp-server-supabase` to `^0.10.0` (adds `query_logs` + `logsDialect`, and hides `get_logs` wherever a platform declares `queryLogs`) and moves logs over to it. - **Self-hosted `query_logs`:** declares `logsDialect: 'bigquery'` and implements `queryLogs`, passing the model's SQL straight through to the same Logflare `logs.all` endpoint (arbitrary `sql` param) — no new endpoint, no dialect translation. - **Drops `get_logs` from self-hosted:** `getLogs` throws (the server hides it once `queryLogs` exists) and the per-service `getLogQuery` builder is deleted; the model now writes its own BigQuery SQL, guided by the dialect schema hint. - **Honors no-logs mode:** `query_logs` throws when `logs:all` is disabled — the self-hosted default, enabled via the `docker-compose.logs.yml` override. - **Assistant:** switches the dashboard assistant from `get_logs` to `query_logs` (allowlist, drift guard, prompt, mocks, evals). Refs AI-1046 ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * AI debugging can query recent project logs using read-only SQL. * Log queries support optional time-range filters, filtering, aggregation, and joins. * Self-hosted debugging checks whether logging is enabled before running queries. * **Bug Fixes** * Updated debugging workflows and validation to consistently use the new log-query capability. * Removed reliance on legacy service-specific log filtering and query behavior. * **Documentation** * Updated MCP debugging tool guidance to describe SQL-based log queries. * **Tests** * Expanded coverage for enabled, disabled, and unsupported logging scenarios. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(www): restore monochrome customer logos for QA.tech and Lovable (#48964)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Bug fix for the two visual bugs flagged in [#customers-page-feedback](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C072FL5KKKP/p1786496881213419): - QA.tech was missing its light-mode logo - Lovable's logo was coloured, inconsistent with the monochrome convention used by every other customer logo ## What is the current behavior? - `on-light/qa-tech.png` is a white wordmark, so it's invisible against the light-mode background. - `on-light/lovable.png` and `on-dark/lovable.png` both use Lovable's gradient heart mark instead of a monochrome one. ## What is the new behavior? - `on-light/qa-tech.png` recolored to a black wordmark, transparent background — visible in light mode, matches the existing white `on-dark/qa-tech.png` used in dark mode. - `on-light/lovable.png` recolored to solid black, `on-dark/lovable.png` recolored to solid white — both transparent background, no brand colour, consistent with the other customer logos. No code changes; only the three PNG assets. Co-authored-by: Wendie Cheung <wendie.cheung@supabase.io> |
