e0280cb650 docs: restructure observability navigation and overview (#49505)
<!-- CURSOR_AGENT_PR_BODY_BEGIN -->
## Stack

Draft stack extracted from `docs/monitoring`. Merge bottom-up. The
troubleshooting *catalog* rewrite (`content/troubleshooting` and the
Diagnosing UI) stays out of scope.

1. #49503 move inspect and advisors
2. #49501 split Studio logs from ClickHouse queries
3. #49500 treat reports as signal dashboards
4. #49502 add Observe the data hub
5. #49506 add agent setup components
6. #49504 add hire-an-agent templates
7. **#49505** restructure observability nav, overview, Detecting, and
flatten Observe the data ← **this PR**

## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.

YES

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Docs update. Top layer in the observability stack.

## What is the current behavior?

The section is still titled Monitoring and Debugging, with a Debugging /
Monitoring split that does not match the new pages. The debugging guide
is still the master layer-isolation + symptom table. Observe the data is
split into “what data” vs “where to observe it,” which duplicates the
source pages.

## What is the new behavior?

- Section title is Observability
- Overview groups Observe the data, Detect and resolve, Hire an agent,
and Export
- **Observe the data is flattened by source.** Logs, Metrics API,
Database, Advisors, and Reports each list where to read that source.
There is no separate MCP/API/CLI/Studio nav group.
- **Observe vs Detecting:** Observe is the catalog (what exists, how to
access it). Detecting is how to *use* those sources to pick up a Health
/ Security / Performance / Usage signal. Named errors skip to
Diagnosing.
- Studio Logs sits under Logs. Reports sits beside the other sources.
- Troubleshooting stays in the global menu and also appears as
Diagnosing under Detect and resolve

## Additional context

This is the last PR in the stack. Together the seven PRs reconstruct the
`docs/monitoring` observability IA and guide content, without shipping
the troubleshooting catalog overhaul.

Danny White 24be387cdb docs: use sign in terminology across guides and style guides (#49877)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Docs update. Aligns documentation and style guides with the **Sign in /
Sign out / Sign up** platform standard.

Closes DOCS-1328. Related to
[#49874](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/49874).

## What is the current behavior?

Docs style guides prefer _login_ / _log in_. Guide prose uses mixed
login and sign in wording.

## What is the new behavior?

- [WORD_LIST.md](apps/docs/WORD_LIST.md) and
[copywriting.mdx](apps/design-system/content/docs/copywriting.mdx)
document the sign in standard
- Design-system auth examples updated
- Guide prose and API reference spec descriptions updated

### Terminology

**Standard:** Use _sign in_, _sign out_, and _sign up_ as verbs. Use
_sign-in_, _sign-out_, and _sign-up_ as nouns and adjectives. Match
Studio UI labels (**Sign in**, **Sign out**, **Sign up**).

**Preserved intentionally:**

| Category | Keep as-is | Example |
| -------- | ---------- | ------- |
| Feature name | social login | `/social-login`, `features.mdx` heading,
OAuth provider section |
| URL slugs | `login` in paths | `/phone-login`, `/login-flows`,
`choosing-login-flow` |
| CLI | `supabase login` / `supabase logout` | Reference ids
`supabase-login` / `supabase-logout`; executable commands unchanged |
| SDK methods | `logout()` | Kotlin/Swift method names in API reference
titles and examples |
| Third-party UI | Provider product labels | Facebook Login, Kakao
Login, portal **Login** buttons |
| Postgres | Database terminology | login privileges, login credentials,
login via role |
| Audit/logging | Log prose | "Generates the following **log** in the
Postgres Logs" |
| Code and routes | Paths and filenames | `app/login/`, `Login.tsx`,
`demos/android-login` |
| External URLs | Third-party login pages | `dash.cloudflare.com/login`,
`console.neon.tech/login`, `vercel.com/login` |
| API identifiers | Event and field names | Audit actions
`login`/`logout`, `should_logout_user` |

## To test

- Run `pnpm lint:mdx` in `apps/docs`
- Spot-check `features.mdx`, `social-login.mdx`, and a provider guide
(e.g. Facebook, Kakao)

Nik RichersandNik Richers c8954e6054 docs(security): add GDPR, ISO 27001, and DDoS coverage to security guide (#48449)
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.

YES

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

This is a docs-only content update to the `/docs/guides/security`
landing page and its neighboring guides. It adds a dedicated GDPR
compliance guide, and surfaces ISO 27001 and DDoS protection coverage
that Supabase already provides but wasn't listed anywhere in the docs
security guide.

Closes DOCS-354.

## What is the current behavior?

- In `/docs/guides/security`, there is no mention of GDPR, ISO 27001 or
DPA request potential, despite Supabase docs covering these partially in
one place or another.
- Confirmed by auditing `apps/docs/content/`: zero mentions of GDPR/data
residency, zero DPA content or link to `/legal/dpa`, zero ISO 27001
mentions, and only incidental/wrong-audience mentions of DDoS protection
(a pen-testing exclusion, a Storage CDN aside, a fail2ban
troubleshooting article for banned users).
- `regions.mdx` only frames region choice as a performance decision,
with no data-residency/compliance angle.
- This is a parallel docs-side counterpart to #48403 (marketing
`/security` page content additions), which is adding the same GDPR/Data
Residency/DPA/DDoS topics on `apps/www`. This PR does not modify
`apps/www` — see that PR for the marketing-page changes.

## What is the new behavior?

- New guide: `apps/docs/content/guides/security/gdpr-compliance.mdx`
covering data residency (including the nuance that the "Europe" general
region grouping includes non-EU jurisdictions UK and Switzerland) and
the Data Processing Agreement (DPA), linked to `/legal/dpa`.
- Added to the sidebar nav under Security → Compliance, alongside SOC 2
and HIPAA.
- `apps/docs/content/guides/security.mdx`: added an ISO 27001 paragraph
(dashboard certificate link, matching the existing SOC 2/HIPAA pattern)
and a GDPR pointer paragraph to `## Compliance`; added a DDoS protection
paragraph (Cloudflare CDN + fail2ban) to `## Platform configuration`.
- `apps/docs/content/guides/platform/regions.mdx`: added a "Data
residency" section clarifying that general region groupings may span
non-matching jurisdictions, and specific regions should be used when
strict jurisdictional residency is required.

## Additional context

- Worktree:
`~/GitHub/supabase/supabase-worktrees/nikrichers/docs-354-security-landing-page`
- Note: Supabase's subprocessor list was considered for the GDPR guide
but omitted — both candidate links
(`/legal/customer-resources/subprocessor-list` and
`/legal/privacy#subprocessors`) are not yet publishable/live. Follow up
once Legal publishes that page.

**Verification:**

| Check | Result |
| ------------------------------------ |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| `pnpm lint:mdx` on changed/new files | Pass (0 errors, 0 warnings on
touched files) |
| `pnpm build:guides-markdown` | Fails on `master` too (unrelated
missing `ai-skills.json` generated file) — not caused by this change |
| Local render (`pnpm dev:docs`) | All three pages return 200; new copy,
nav entry, and all links/anchors verified to resolve |

### Proof:

Reviewers should believe: the security landing page and regions guide
now list GDPR/ISO 27001/DDoS coverage that was previously missing, and
the new GDPR guide renders correctly with working links, where before it
404'd.

- [ ] Visit /docs/guides/security/gdpr-compliance — confirm it renders and appears in the sidebar under Compliance (next to SOC 2, HIPAA)
- [ ] Visit /docs/guides/platform/regions — confirm the new "Data residency" section renders before "General regions"
- [ ] Confirm links resolve: /docs/guides/security/gdpr-compliance, /docs/guides/platform/regions#specific-regions, /legal/dpa, /dashboard/org/_/documents
```
Miranda LimonczenkoandClaude Sonnet 5 81523d5d8c fix(docs): fix heading-order skips in guide and troubleshooting content (#48459)
Closes DOCS-1260
_See WAVE plugin no longer flags a jump in header hierarchy. Preview on
## Problem
Beyond the 4 shared components fixed in
[#48456](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/48456), the [header
hierarchy
report](https://app.notion.com/p/supabase/Playwright-E2E-Triage-Reports-3ab5004b775f81e3bc60d058fa5a02c1)
found plain content headings that skip a level. For example, you may see
a `##` followed directly by an `####`.
Jumps in headers breaks page navigation for screen reader users, who
jump between headings expecting each level to nest one at a time.
## Solution
Adjusted heading levels across the affected guide and troubleshooting
pages so every section nests correctly, with no skipped levels.
bf5a729f2d docs(telemetry): rename section and restructure as Monitoring and Debugging (#48243)
## Summary
- Renames the **Telemetry** nav section to **Monitoring and Debugging**
(nav label + sidebar title)
- Rewrites the section overview (`telemetry.mdx`) as a clean navigation
page using `ContentListings` — three panels (Debugging / Monitoring / AI
& automation) with no how-to prose
- Adds new `telemetry.data.ts` content-listings data file with three
groups registered in `index.ts`
- Adds a new **Debugging** guide (`debugging.mdx`) — request-stack
model, symptom-to-layer router with troubleshooting links for every
service, logging guidance
- Adds cross-links between `debugging.mdx`, `logs.mdx`, and
`advanced-log-filtering.mdx`
- Adds a new **AI agents and MCP** page (`ai-agents.mdx`) — MCP tools
table, `get_logs` usage, debugging skill workflow
- Restructures sidebar into three groups: **Debugging** / **Monitoring**
/ **AI & automation**
## Motivation
- No central entry point existed for debugging — content was scattered
across products with no index
- The overview page had almost no links for agents to follow
- The section name "Telemetry" caused confusion (also used for CLI usage
telemetry)
- Unblocks the `supabase` debugging skill, which routes agents to this
section as its source of truth
## Test plan
- [ ] `/docs/guides/telemetry` — three ContentListings panels render, no
prose how-to text
- [ ] `/docs/guides/telemetry.md` (markdown) — clean link list,
navigable by LLMs
- [ ] `/docs/guides/telemetry/debugging` — renders correctly, symptom
table links resolve
- [ ] `/docs/guides/telemetry/ai-agents` — new page renders correctly
- [ ] Sidebar shows 3 groups: Debugging / Monitoring / AI & automation
- [ ] All cross-links between debugging, logs, and
advanced-log-filtering resolve
Miranda Limonczenko 0d465e7b5f chore(ui): Remove 'tip' from Admonition (#48419)
Closes FE-3966
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## Problem
- The admonition uses both 'tip' and 'note', but the visual distinction
has long-ago collapsed.
- 'Note' is used far more frequently than 'tip'
- The two are very similar and it is confusing to know which one to use
when they are visually identical
## Solution
Collapse 'tip' and 'note' into one by removing all places where there is
'tip' and updating all references to 'tip' into 'note'.
**Note:** This PR also resolves new broken links flagged by the E2E docs
checker. It may move to another PR since E2Es keep erroring.
### Specific changes
See below for an AI-generated list of changes:
- **Type system** — removed `'tip'` from `AdmonitionType`, its
`TYPE_TO_VARIANT`/`TYPE_LABEL` entries, and the test case in
[`packages/ui-patterns/src/Admonition/](packages/ui-patterns/src/Admonition/)
- **Remark plugin** —
[remarkAdmonition.ts](apps/docs/lib/mdx/plugins/remarkAdmonition.ts) now
maps mkdocs `tip` → `note`
- **Lint allowlist** — `tip` dropped from `supa-mdx-lint.config.toml`
- **Content migration** — all 109 files with `type="tip"` (across
`apps/docs`, `apps/www`, `apps/studio`) converted to `type="note"`; zero
remaining hits confirmed by repo-wide grep
- **Style guide** — `CONTRIBUTING.md` and `contributing/content.mdx`
updated to describe 4 admonition types instead of 5
### Usage before implementation
See the usage table that points toward 'note' as being dominant across
all apps:
Here's the usage table:
| Location | `note` | `tip` |
|---|---|---|
| apps/docs | ~480 | ~143 |
| apps/studio | 34 | 6 |
| apps/www (blog) | 19 | 3 |
| packages/ui-patterns (tests) | 3 | 1 (parametrized) |
| design-system / ui-library / packages/ui / packages/common | 0–1 (test
fixture only) | 0 |
Miranda Limonczenko 359974d071 fix(docs) Fix local broken links (#48212)
Closes DOCS-1202
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## Problem
We have broken local links in docs.
I ran locally tests that crawl through all of our docs and flags broken
local links.
## Solution
This PR fixes local links where they were errored. The report I
generated had false-positives, so there are fewer fixes than initially
thought.
Nik RichersandNik Richers 93ebd8adf1 docs(security): remove log_connections effective date admonition — MERGE ON JULY 9 (#47253)
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
- docs update
Scheduled follow-up to #47252 / DOCS-1080.
## What is the current behavior?
- Docs include a temporary note admonition on five pages: "This default
takes effect for new projects from July 9, 2026." (#47252)
- The `do-not-merge` label blocks CI until this PR is ready to merge.
## What is the new behavior?
- Removes the temporary effective-date admonition partial and all
`$Partial` includes.
- Default-behavior copy from #47199 remains unchanged.
## Additional context
**Do not merge before July 9, 2026.**
### Merge instructions (July 9)
1. Rebase this branch onto `master` after #47252 has merged (should
remain a clean removal-only diff)
2. Remove the `do-not-merge` label
3. Confirm CI is green and merge
Review screenshots live in `.github/pr-screenshots/docs-1080/` on this
branch for PR proof only.
### Test plan
- [ ] After rebase, confirm the five pages no longer show the
effective-date admonition
- [ ] Confirm default-behavior copy from #47199 remains unchanged
- [ ] Remove `do-not-merge` label and merge on July 9, 2026
<!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai
-->
## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Documentation**
* Cleaned up several security, compliance, telemetry, and PostgreSQL
logging docs by removing a repeated note about when default connection
logging behavior takes effect.
* Streamlined the affected pages so the guidance now flows more directly
without the extra embedded note.
3dffdefd6e fix(docs) Resolve 196 mdx lint warnings for just, quickly, actually, PostgreSQL (#47358)
Closes DOCS-1057
Contributes to DOCS-1052
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## Problem
We have hundreds of MDX lint warnings in our docs going against style
best practices.
## Solution
Remove and replace in context the following:
- PostgreSQL. There was only one. There was concern about exceptions,
but I found none.
- Just
- Quickly
- Actually
### What changed
Edits follow the [Google developer documentation style
guide](https://developers.google.com/style): concise, direct, active
voice. The flagged words were removed when the sentence still read well,
or replaced when meaning needed to be preserved.
### Common patterns
| Flagged word | Approach | Example |
|---|---|---|
| **just** (filler) | Removed | "you just installed" → "you installed" |
| **just** (limiting) | **only** | "just one row" → "only one row" |
| **just like** | **like** / **the same as** | "function just like
regular users" → "function like regular users" |
| **not just** | **not only** | "not just errors" → "not only errors" |
| **quickly** (performance) | **efficiently** or removed | "find rows
quickly" → "find rows efficiently" |
| **quickly** (time) | **soon** / **rapidly** / removed | "expires too
quickly" → "expires too soon" |
| **actually** (filler) | Removed | "actually execute" → "execute"; "is
actually the most common" → "is the most common" |
## Tophatting
1. See the diff.
2. See that content continues to make sense in context.
3. Locally, `cd apps/docs` and run `pnpm run lint:mdx`.
4. Search for "just," "actually," "quickly", and "PostgreSQL" and see
there are 0 warnings.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
- docs update
Follow-up to DOCS-1080 / PSQL-1307 after #47199 merged.
## What is the current behavior?
- Docs state that `log_connections` is off by default for new projects
(#47199) but do not note when that platform default takes effect.
- The `log_connections=off` default is not live until **July 9, 2026**.
## What is the new behavior?
- Adds a shared note admonition (via partial) on all five pages that
state the `log_connections=off` default.
- Admonition copy: "This default takes effect for new projects from July
9, 2026."
d1f71464f1 docs(security): document log_connections=off default and re-enable path (#47199)
## I have read the CONTRIBUTING.md file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
- docs update
Closes DOCS-1080.
## What is the current behavior?
- Linear item:
[DOCS-1080](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/DOCS-1080/update-hipaa-and-security-docs-to-reflect-the-log-connectionsoff)
(parent: PSQL-1307)
- Docs do not mention that Postgres `log_connections` defaults to off
for new projects, or how customers re-enable it for HIPAA/SOC 2 audit
needs.
- No customer-facing how-to for the Management API `log_connections`
setting.
## What is the new behavior?
- New guide: "Postgres connection logging" — default behavior, dashboard
instructions, Management API curl examples, compliance notes.
- HIPAA shared-responsibility, HIPAA projects, SOC 2, HIPAA compliance
FAQ, logs guide, custom-postgres-config, and product-security updated
with cross-links.
- Platform nav entry added under **Platform → Postgres Connection
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## Problem
The `title` frontmatter generates an `h1`. However, several pages have
multiple h1s.
## Fix
This PR demotes pages with h1s in the markdown body to h2s and so on.
See [a troubleshooting page in
production](https://supabase.com/docs/guides/troubleshooting/supabase--your-network-ipv4-and-ipv6-compatibility-cHe3BP)
and in [in
preview](https://docs-git-demote-h1s-in-body-docs-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/troubleshooting/supabase--your-network-ipv4-and-ipv6-compatibility-cHe3BP).
## Future improvements
Possibly, we can add a linting rule to prevent this in the future. We'd
also want to check that the heading hierarchy is always consistent.
## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Documentation**
* Updated multiple guides and troubleshooting articles to enforce
consistent heading hierarchy and improved section nesting for clearer
in-page structure.
* Refreshed troubleshooting pages with cleaner table of contents and
navigation, including added guide links and re-leveled subsections.
* Reformatted Prisma troubleshooting content (including a deprecated
redirect) without changing the underlying guidance.
6b8772a33e Update Data API docs to include explicit grants (#42969)
Updates our documentation pages around the Data API to include
instructions on how to grant the necessary privileges across API roles
across tables and functions. Current behaviour means this is largely
unnecessary as privileges are granted by default on public schema, but
adding instructions will help cover scenarios where this isn't the case
and expose some of the underlying magic happening.
## To test:
- These updates refer to new settings that are added to the data api
that give more visibility and control over what tables and functions are
accessible via the api.
- To view these settings you'll need enable `tableEditorApiAccessToggle
` feature flag
