Anthony Lio 4a9b4b0a9e feat(docs): o11y agent setup stepper (#50962)
## Problem

on monitoring agent pages the prompt lives in a "prompt" tab next to
agent ones, while each agent tab ended with "paste the prompt" users
have to work out that the prompt is sitting in that previous tab

## Solution

this pr is a proposal to set agent setup as a two stepper `1` for the
prompt panel `2` holds the agent tabs:

- extracts prompt into a first step
- moves agent tabs within their own step
- polishes agent docs to match recent ui updates
- sets `prompt` as an anchor link within agent tabs

Anthony Lio 12a1fd5427 fix(docs): codetabs file tabs (#50811)
## Problem

#50734 restyled single named code blocks as file tabs but code blocks
grouped with `<$CodeTabs>` render through a separate path and kept the
old pill style

## Solution

- add a `CodeTabs` component with the same file tab styling
- sets the `<$CodeTabs>` remark directive at it instead of `Tabs`
- remove the unused `NamedCodeBlock` copy in www (nothing in www outputs
it)

Saxon FletcherandDanny White cd77bebafd chore(ui): refresh shared button styles (#50197)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

UI polish / design system: refreshed button styles, related token
tweaks, and a shared floating-button plate.

Resolves DEPR-652.

## What is the current behavior?

Default, primary, and secondary buttons use older fills, borders, and
hover treatments. Primary still leans on brand scale utilities. Default
fills don’t always read as raised chrome across surfaces, and floating
copy / expand / scroll controls can let busy content show through
translucent fills. Call sites hand-roll `rounded-* bg-background`
wrappers for that.

## What is the new behavior?

Refreshes primary, default, and secondary buttons with medium-weight
labels, subtle shadows and inset edges, and smoother transitions.
Light-mode default buttons use a raised fill with an accent hover state,
primary text is brighter, and inline keyboard shortcuts inherit the
button’s colour.

Adds `FloatingPlate`: an opaque `bg-popover` shell for floating default
buttons (and small clusters). Migrates Studio, Docs-related patterns,
www, and `ui-patterns` floaters onto it so busy content no longer shows
through translucent fills. Positioning, z-index, and hover/focus reveal
stay on the plate’s `className`. Use `rounded="full"` for pills.

Also:

- Moves primary onto semantic `--primary` / `--primary-hover` (with a
light-theme override) instead of brand utility fills
- Tokenises button shadows as `--button-shadow-drop` /
`--button-shadow-raised` / `--button-shadow-default` on the Button base
- Aligns hover direction: darken on light mode, lighten on dark mode for
both default and primary
- Default fill stays opaque `bg-card` in light (occlusion) and
translucent `bg-muted` in dark (adapts to the local surface)
- Documents fills and `FloatingPlate` on the design-system Button page
(with a live example)
- Scales shared radius tokens in Studio and www; medium+ Button sizes
use a proportionally softer radius
- Fixes www nav CTA centering (`lg:inline-flex` instead of `lg:block`)
- Query detail Expand/Collapse wires `aria-expanded` / `aria-controls`

1966209483 chore(deps): upgrade vitest to v5 (#49994)
Upgrades Vitest from 4.1.4 to 5.0.0 across the monorepo, fixes the
handful of things v5 turned into hard errors, and drops the
`vi.clearAllMocks()` boilerplate that v5's `clearMocks` default makes
redundant.

**Changed:**
- `vitest`, `@vitest/ui`, `@vitest/coverage-v8` 4.1.4 → 5.0.0 (catalog)
- `vi.mock` calls that lived inside `beforeAll`/`beforeEach`/test bodies
moved to module scope (v5 throws on nested calls). Affects the Studio
and docs setup files and four Studio tests.
- `detectBrowser` test restores `navigator` via `vi.unstubAllGlobals()`
instead of assigning `global.navigator`, which now reaches jsdom's
getter-only property.
- `RowEditor.utils.test.ts` restores its `JSON.stringify` spy. It used
to leak a throwing mock for the rest of the file, which v5's coverage
provider now trips over. A later test in the same file had been
asserting the leak's side effect (valid JSON reported as invalid) and
now asserts the correct behavior.
- `@testing-library/jest-dom` 6.6 → 7.0.1. Its vitest type augmentation
resolves through a peer now, so it lands on each package's own `vitest`
instead of whichever copy pnpm hoisted. Fixes `toBeInTheDocument` type
errors in dev-tools after the reshuffle.
- `@testing-library/react` 16.0.0 → 16.3.3 for the React 19 peer range.
- `vite: catalog:` added to dev-tools, www, and common. Without it they
resolved a newer vite than the catalog pin, which forked a second vitest
instance in the lockfile. There's now one.
- ai-commands custom matcher types use v5's `Matchers<R, T>` form.
- 110 test files: `vi.clearAllMocks()` removed from
`beforeEach`/`afterEach` hooks, along with hooks that only did that and
the imports they left unused. Calls that also reset/restore mocks are
untouched. Second commit, mechanical.

**Added:**
- `.vitest/` to the root gitignore (v5 writes JSON/JUnit/HTML reporter
output there)

**Removed:**
- `vite-tsconfig-paths` catalog entry and deps. Vitest 5 resolves
tsconfig paths itself.

Release-age note: this sat in draft with a temporary
`minimumReleaseAgeExclude` entry for `vitest` and `@vitest/*` while
5.0.0 was inside the workspace's 3-day `minimumReleaseAge` window. That
window has closed, so the exclusion is gone and nothing bypasses the
release-age gate.

**Perf** (local, medians of 3 runs, same machine):

| Suite | v4.1.4 | v5.0.0 |
|---|---|---|
| studio | 144.1s | 141.7s (-2%) |
| studio `--coverage` | 156.9s | 146.4s (-7%) |
| ui-patterns | 6.27s | 5.07s (-19%) |
| ui `--coverage` | 3.35s | 2.14s (-36%) |
| www | 0.89s | 0.47s (-47%) |

Studio is dominated by jsdom environment setup per file, which v5
doesn't change. `vitest doctor` recommends keeping the current pool
config: the vm pools and `isolate: false` all break tests.

## To test

- `pnpm install --frozen-lockfile` succeeds with no
`minimumReleaseAgeExclude` entry for vitest.
- CI: Studio unit tests, ui, ui-patterns, www, docs, and typecheck/lint
should all be green. The lint ratchet was checked locally: warning
counts on touched Studio files are identical to master.
- `pnpm test:studio` locally passes with coverage (588 files, 6240
tests).
- Open a Studio test that uses `toBeInTheDocument` in your editor and
confirm no type errors on jest-dom matchers, in Studio and in
`packages/dev-tools`.
- Known pre-existing failures unrelated to this PR: one dev-tools test
(`getEventCountBadge` capped pill) fails on master too.

Miranda LimonczenkoandClaude Sonnet 5 320111b06b fix(docs): replace hardcoded heading tags in 4 shared components (#48456)
Closes DOCS-1261

_WAVE plugin shows headers creating jumps in hierarchy. Preview on the
left:_
<img width="1022" height="417" alt="Screenshot 2026-07-29 at 2 42 07 PM"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f5e3bd09-8dbf-45e3-8a7f-70d7334fd25b"

<img width="408" height="663" alt="Screenshot 2026-07-29 at 2 44 33 PM"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/6b952a81-40e5-4a9d-b08a-190c71575cac"
/>

## Problem

Four shared components in `apps/docs` render a hardcoded heading tag no
matter where they're used:

- `NamedCodeBlock` renders a code block's filename as an `<h6>`
- `ProjectConfigVariables` renders a variable label as an `<h6>`
- `StepHikeCompact.Details` renders a step title as an `<h3>`
- `IconPanel` renders its title as an `<h5>`

Since these are fixed, they often land in the wrong spot in a page's
heading order (like an h6 right after an h2), which breaks navigation
for screen reader users. This showed up in the [header hierarchy triage
report](https://app.notion.com/p/supabase/Playwright-E2E-Triage-Reports-3ab5004b775f81e3bc60d058fa5a02c1)
— fixing these 4 components alone resolves 72 of the 159 heading-order
violations found.

## Solution

Swapped the heading tag in each component for a `<span>` with the same
classes. None of these are really "headings" for the content that
follows, so they shouldn't be in the tag tree at all.

The one wrinkle: this codebase applies heading font weight/family
through a global CSS rule keyed off the tag name (h1-h6), not something
the tag gives you for free. So each span now sets that styling
explicitly, plus a margin to match what was there before. Nothing else
changed — same classes, same layout.

## Manual testing

Staging preview:
https://docs-git-ui-header-hierarchy-supabase.vercel.app

Check that each one still looks right:
-
[NamedCodeBlock](https://docs-git-ui-header-hierarchy-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/self-hosting/docker)
— filenames above the code blocks
-
[ProjectConfigVariables](https://docs-git-ui-header-hierarchy-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/auth/quickstarts/react-native)
— the "Project URL" / "Publishable key" labels (this page also has a
`NamedCodeBlock` inside the numbered steps)
-
[StepHikeCompact](https://docs-git-ui-header-hierarchy-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/database/beekeeper-studio)
— the step titles ("Create a new connection", etc.)
-
[IconPanel](https://docs-git-ui-header-hierarchy-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/resources)
— the "Auth0" / "Firebase Auth" panel titles under "Migrate to Supabase"

I also ran typecheck, lint, and the docs test suite locally — all green.

Alaister YoungandAlaister Young ca2b50a0a7 chore(ui-patterns): collapse the admonition shim into ui-patterns/Admonition (#48377)
Follow-up to #48344: collapses the two resolution paths for the
Admonition module into one.

`src/admonition.tsx` was a back-compat shim re-exporting
`src/Admonition/`. Two ways to resolve one module is exactly what
produced the macOS self-import bug fixed in #48344, and the local
typecheck errors that #48374 worked around. This removes the shim and
standardizes on the PascalCase subpath, matching every other export in
the package.

**Changed:**

- Codemodded all 246 `ui-patterns/admonition` imports to
`ui-patterns/Admonition` (240 `.tsx`, 5 `.mdx`, 1 `.ts` across studio,
docs, www, design-system, and lite-studio)
- Pointed the 5 internal `'../admonition'` imports back at the
`'../Admonition'` directory

**Removed:**

- `packages/ui-patterns/src/admonition.tsx`, and its `./admonition`
entry in the exports map (regenerated with `pnpm gen:exports`)

## To test

- `grep -r "ui-patterns/admonition" --include='*.ts*'` → no hits
- `pnpm test:case-hazards` → passes
- `pnpm typecheck` → all 15 tasks green
- `pnpm --filter studio run lint:ratchet` → passes
- `pnpm --filter ui-patterns vitest run src/Admonition` → 11 tests pass

d46cc88f09 docs: add agent prompts to all 18 framework quickstarts (#47543)
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.

YES

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Docs enhancement: Agent-ready prompt blocks on all 18 framework
quickstart pages.

## What is the current behavior?

Framework quickstarts do not surface a copyable AI prompt. Readers have
to assemble context themselves when asking an AI coding assistant to
follow the guide.

## What is the new behavior?

- Partials at
`apps/docs/content/_partials/ai/quickstart_prompt_{framework}.mdx`
contain `<AiPrompt prompt={...} />` (Prettier multiline single-quoted JS
string with `\n` escapes).
- Each quickstart includes `<$Partial
path="ai/quickstart_prompt_{framework}.mdx" />`.
- Runtime: `AiPrompt` → `PromptPanel` (Copy AI Prompt, expandable).
- Markdown export: `apps/docs/internals/markdown-schema/AiPrompt.ts`
decodes Prettier single-quoted prompt expressions so exported markdown
includes an **AI Prompt** section without quote leak.
- Shared `$Partial` helpers live in `lib/partials.utils.ts`.
- Closes DOCS-1144.

Danny White 6f6badae51 fix(eslint): promote require-explicit-tabindex to error (#48170)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Accessibility / lint hardening (Safari keyboard focus).

## What is the current behavior?

`supabase/require-explicit-tabindex` is `'warn'`. Studio’s ratchet was
at 0 but the rule was still ratcheted; www / docs / design-system still
had raw `<button>` / `role="button"` call sites without an explicit
`tabIndex`.

[DEPR-627](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/DEPR-627) · follow-up to
#47984 / #48040

## What is the new behavior?

- Shared config: `'supabase/require-explicit-tabindex': 'error'`
- Swept www / docs / design-system (+ Studio test fixtures the ratchet
skipped)
- Removed the rule from the Studio ratchet + baselines

## To test

Prefer **Safari**. This PR only adds explicit `tabIndex` to raw
`<button>` / `role="button"` call sites — not links, and not controls
that already go through `Button` from `ui`.

### Marketing (`www`) ([staging
link](https://zone-www-dot-com-git-danny-depr-627-promote-req-7ae43c-supabase.vercel.app/))

- [x] Homepage frameworks / dashboard feature tabs — Tab through each
tab button
- [x] Product pages (e.g. `/auth`, `/database`) — section tab switchers
- [x] Narrow viewport — open the hamburger; Tab through menu buttons
- [x] `/partners/catalog` — filter / view controls
- [x] Blog view toggle (list ↔ grid)

### Docs ([staging
link](https://docs-git-danny-depr-627-promote-require-explici-25e46d-supabase.vercel.app/))

- [x] **Desktop (≥ lg):** top-right **⋯ menu** (hamburger icon) — opens
a dropdown that includes Theme. Not a separate theme button.
- [x] **Mobile (< lg):** top-right **hamburger** opens the sheet; close
(X) is the raw button we tagged. Theme inside the sheet uses
`ThemeToggle` / `DropdownMenuTrigger` from `ui` (already supposed to set
`tabIndex`).
- [x] **Code blocks** — copy / language controls
- [x] **Is this helpful?** — X / check are `Button` from `ui` (should
already Tab). After voting **while signed in**, the follow-up “What went
well?” / “How can we improve?” text button is the raw one we tagged.
- [x] **AI Tools → Copy as Markdown** (right rail on a guide) — this is
the only GuidesSidebar control this PR changed. “On this page” TOC items
are **links**, not covered by this lint.
- [x] **Reference docs** (e.g. JS client reference) — section headers
that expand/collapse in the left nav (`Collapsible.Trigger`)
- [x] **Troubleshooting index** — type in the search field, then Tab to
the **clear (X)** control

### Dashboard (`studio`)

No production UI changes in this PR (tests + lint config only). Quick
Safari smoke that prior tabindex work still holds:

- [x] Project sidebar — Tab through primary nav links
- [x] Settings → General — Tab through inputs / buttons
- [x] Storage → Files — Tab a bucket row / file actions

## Summary by CodeRabbit

* **Behavior Changes**
* Partial directives now render unprovided variables as empty strings
instead of throwing validation errors
* Escaped placeholders (preceded by backslash) are preserved and not
substituted
  * Unused provided variables are silently ignored

* **Tests**
* Updated test coverage to validate the new permissive variable
substitution behavior and removed prior error-focused assertions

Ivan VasilovandJordi Enric 56de26fe22 chore: Migrate the monorepo to use Tailwind v4 (#45318)
This PR migrates the whole monorepo to use Tailwind v4:
- Removed `@tailwindcss/container-queries` plugin since it's included by
default in v4,
- Bump all instances of Tailwind to v4. Made minimal changes to the
shared config to remove non-supported features (`alpha` mentions),
- Migrate all apps to be compatible with v4 configs,
- Fix the `typography.css` import in 3 apps,
- Add missing rules which were included by default in v3,
- Run `pnpm dlx @tailwindcss/upgrade` on all apps, which renames a lot
of classes
- Rename all misnamed classes according to
https://tailwindcss.com/docs/upgrade-guide#renamed-utilities in all
apps.

Charis 2709fa4a3e feat: pre-compile-time partials (#34028)
Partials are currently defined via MDX includes. This PR switches to pre-compile-time partials, which have a new syntax:

```
<$Partial path="path/to/file.mdx" />
```

## Rationale

This produces two improvements:

1. Partial substitution can occur in pipelines that don't use MDX compilation. For example, we can now do partial substitution before building the search index, so partial content will also be indexed.
2. After the App Router migration, the MDXProviders should've been deprecated, but were kept around for the sole reason of making partials work, and leading to us shipping unnecessary client-side code. We get a minor decrease in overall client bundle size (5.74 MB to 5.6 MB) by getting rid of the Providers.

## Breaking changes

Besides the change to partial syntax, the arguments are also less powerful than before because we are doing string substitution and don't have the full power of JS. Defining string variables is still possible (documented in the Contributing guide), and since that's all we actually do in practice, this shouldn't be too cumbersome. There is always the escape hatch of making a custom component for more complex content reuse cases.

* Replace NEXT_PUBLIC_VERCEL_URL with NEXT_PUBLIC_VERCEL_BRANCH_URL because it's more stable on vercel.com. Remove it from apps where it's not needed.

* Add env vars from packages. Move all passthrough env vars to env vars since they're stable (don't change between pushes).

* Revert changes of studio files.

* Minor fixes for the merge commit.

* Replace all uses of SITE_URL with LW_URL (they're the same). SITE_ORIGIN is not constructed from env vars. LW_URL is constructed from SITE_ORIGIN and launch_week string.

* Use SITE_ORIGIN when fetching the ticket-og.

We allow fetching external data in CodeSamples into a MDX environment, so we have to be careful about preventing code execution.

Current checks:

- External data is inserted as a code block (via the AST, not direct string manipulation), so it is escaped.

Added two new layers of checks:

- Allow-list of organizations, currently set to Supabase-only
- Only allow immutable commit references

Charis c2fe11850d feat: embed code samples from github (#29519)
Add the ability to embed code samples from GitHub into tutorials, so we can have a single source of truth for the source code.

Introduces the <$CodeSample /> syntax, which is a special syntax and not a real React component (see the directives/README.md for why on earth I did it this way -- in this specific case, CodeHike adjusts the MDX syntax tree before it gets compiled, and we need to adjust it ourselves before CodeHike sees it, so we need to get down to the level of manipulating the AST in order to make this work with CodeHike).

Adjusted one of the example tutorials to use this new feature as a test.
