Danny White 476d4a5851 refactor(ui): drop redundant Button variant="default" props (#50161)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Mechanical cleanup on top of the Button default-variant change (#50160).

## What is the current behavior?

Many callsites still pass `variant="default"` even though that is now
the component default.

## What is the new behavior?

Removes redundant static `variant="default"` from legacy `Button` and
`ButtonTooltip` callsites. Keeps explicit defaults where they document
the API:

- `button-default.tsx` and `button-sizes.tsx` demos
- `DocsButton`, which pins neutral styling at the wrapper boundary

## To test

Studio:

- [Auth → Rate
Limits](https://studio-staging-2s957kwc4-supabase.vercel.app/dashboard/project/_/auth/rate-limits):
dirty the form so Cancel appears; Cancel stays neutral, Save stays green
- [Project Settings → API
Keys](https://studio-staging-2s957kwc4-supabase.vercel.app/dashboard/project/_/settings/api-keys):
`DocsButton` in the header actions stays neutral

Design system:

- [Design system →
Button](https://design-system-git-dnywh-dc924ac1-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/components/button):
`button-default` / `button-sizes` still show explicit default styling;
Primary (green) is restricted to the Primary section (and `asChild`)

WWW:

- [www → Brand
assets](https://zone-www-dot-com-git-dnywh-dc924ac1-supabase.vercel.app/brand-assets):
Download logo kit / Download button kit stay neutral

Danny White 59af339b8f fix(ui): standardise nav logout label to "Sign out" (#49874)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Copy fix across nav dropdowns.

## What is the current behavior?

Authenticated nav dropdowns use mixed logout wording: Studio shows "Log
out", while www, docs, and learn show "Logout". Studio error flows
already use "Sign out".

| Before |

| <img width="482" height="670" alt="CleanShot 2026-09-02 at 13 07

src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d87b7c18-94c0-4c1c-917e-e17e4cb16dd3"
/> |

## What is the new behavior?

All four nav dropdowns use **Sign out**, matching the Sign in / Sign up
standard and the direction in
[DOCS-1328](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/DOCS-1328).

Related: [Slack
thread](https://supabase.slack.com/archives/C0429V78ACX/p1787081498302919)

## To test

Only Studio is possible to test (before merge) given how authentication
works across apps on staging:

1. **Studio** (`/dashboard`): open the account avatar dropdown. Confirm
the bottom item reads **Sign out**.
2. **www** (`supabase.com`): open the account avatar dropdown. Confirm
**Sign out**.
3. **docs** (`supabase.com/docs`): open the account avatar dropdown.
Confirm **Sign out**.
4. **learn** (`supabase.com/learn`): open the account avatar dropdown.
Confirm **Sign out**.

fb4c3ec6d4 feat(studio): add dev toolbar launcher to account settings menu (#49285)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Feature

## What is the current behavior?

The dev toolbar is only discoverable via `window.devToolbar()` in the
browser console, or by having your email on the `devToolbarDefaultOn`
ConfigCat flag. Once enabled, Studio shows a floating trigger button.

## What is the new behavior?

In local and staging Studio, the account/settings dropdown (avatar menu)
includes a **Local tools** section above **Theme** with a **Dev
toolbar** checkbox toggle.

- **On**: shows the floating orb (persists via localStorage, same as
`window.devToolbar()`)
- **Off**: hides the orb and dismisses the toolbar

Open the panel itself via the orb once it is visible. Production builds
are unchanged (`isAvailable` is false and the menu item is hidden).

## Manual testing

Run `pnpm dev:studio` and open http://localhost:8082.

1. **Find the entry point:** top-right avatar/settings menu → **Local
tools** → **Dev toolbar** (above **Theme**). Should not appear in
production builds.
2. **Turn it on:** check **Dev toolbar**. A green floating orb should
appear (default bottom-right).
3. **Open the panel:** click the orb. The **Dev Toolbar** sheet should
open with Events and Flags tabs.
4. **Event count:** navigate around Studio (e.g. open a project, switch
pages). The orb badge should increment and stay readable in light and
dark mode.
5. **Turn it off:** reopen the avatar menu and uncheck **Dev toolbar**.
The orb and panel should disappear.
6. **Close vs hide:** with the toolbar on, open the sheet and use
**Close** (X). The orb should remain; only the sheet closes.

Optional: confirm `window.devToolbar()` in the browser console still
enables the orb.

Mert YEREKAPAN 320604d0e7 feat(studio): ship both upgrade CTA placements, remove A/B experiment (#47881)
## What

Concludes the `upgradeCtaPlacement` experiment
([#45858](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/45858)) by shipping
**both** placements permanently and removing the A/B scaffolding.

The experiment tested two upgrade-CTA placements against a control:
- **`user_dropdown`** — an "Upgrade to Pro" button in the account/user
dropdown
- **`org_projects_list`** — a plan-usage card in the org project list

Both moved paid conversion in the same direction over control with no
activation downside, and they live on separate surfaces, so we're
keeping both rather than picking one.

## Changes

- **Remove the experiment machinery.** Deleted `useUpgradeCtaExperiment`
(PostHog `upgradeCtaPlacement` flag read, `control` arm, variant
selection, per-org localStorage seeding, exposure tracking) and replaced
it with a small `useShowUpgradeCta` hook that gates purely on **free
plan + hosted platform**. Both placements now render for every eligible
free-plan org.
- **Telemetry cleanup.** Removed the
`upgrade_cta_placement_experiment_exposed` event (pure experiment
scaffolding). Kept `upgrade_cta_clicked` (with its `placement` property)
so we can still measure the CTAs going forward; de-experimented its
wording.
- **Dead code.** Removed the unused `prependCard` prop plumbing added to
`ProjectList` / `EmptyStates` (no caller ever passed it — the org card
renders via the `<aside>`).
- De-experimented the remaining doc comments in `PlanUsageCard`.

Gating is unchanged in spirit: paid orgs and self-hosted never see the
CTA. `useShowUpgradeCta` waits until the org plan is known before
returning true, so the CTA fades in for free users and never flashes for
paid users.

## Testing

- `pnpm --filter common typecheck` and `pnpm --filter studio typecheck`
pass.
- eslint + prettier clean on the changed files.
- Manually checked

<!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai
-->
## Summary by CodeRabbit

- **New Features**
- Upgrade/usage CTAs now appear only when the organization is confirmed
to be on a free plan, avoiding premature rendering before plan data is
available.
- Upgrade CTA visibility is now consistently driven across supported
project and organization surfaces (including the user dropdown) for
org-scoped routes.

- **Bug Fixes**
- Removed obsolete “prepend” placeholders from the project list loading
and grid views to keep card layouts consistent.

- **Documentation**
- Clarified upgrade CTA telemetry wording and adjusted the frontend
telemetry contract.

- **Tests**
- Added coverage for upgrade-CTA visibility behavior across key
scenarios.

Joshen LimandAlaister Young 37b072aac2 Improve UI for org invites if MFA is enforced (#47067)
## Context

When opening an invite to join an organization that's enforced MFA for
their members, if a member does not have MFA enabled yet, they'll see
this UI which is confusing as there's no clear direction on what to do
<img width="500" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/ca2d1047-20bf-40ca-a9ea-91e81c390e40"
/>

## Changes involved
- Updating the UI to consider this error message and prompt users to set
up MFA
<img width="501" height="317" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d074ac6d-fd74-4fe0-9078-473fd2401045"
/>
- Small UI nudges to account security page
  - Tight copywriting to explicitly say MFA
- Opt to use Card instead of Collapsible (collapsible seems unnecessary
given that this is the only UI on this page)
  - Before:
<img width="811" height="360" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/1412da3b-3903-4966-85ea-46e0ff443177"
/>
  - After:
<img width="817" height="370" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/02d5a2f5-8c1f-4f78-8a20-10c7a4ff563c"
/>
- Tiny change to the user dropdown, say "account" instead of "account
preferences" + change icon
- This imo aligns better as the account page covers more than just
preferences
  - Before:
<img width="307" height="178" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/fea43cac-9b0c-4fe4-94a3-946ed0925901"
/>
  - After:
<img width="300" height="183" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/800357fe-222f-49b8-b52b-ce4fabff7b95"
/>

## To test
- [ ] Have an organization on paid plan with MFA enforced
- [ ] Invite a user that doesn't have MFA enabled
- [ ] Try to join the organization with that user

<!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai
-->

## Summary by CodeRabbit

* **New Features**
* Organization invites now detect and handle MFA requirements with
specific error messaging
* Redesigned Multi-factor authentication section on account security
page

* **Improvements**
  * Updated TOTP authenticator help text for clarity
  * Updated account menu navigation label

Gildas GarciaandIvan Vasilov 96d43099bb chore: refactor Button API so that it can be used a standard button (#46880)
## Problem

Our `<Button>` component breaks the default `button` contract by
redefining the `type` prop to set its variant (`primary`, `default`,
etc) instead of the button type (`submit`, `button`, etc).
This is confusing and forces to write more code when using it with
shadcn components that expect/inject the standard button props.

## Solution

- rename the `type` prop to `variant`
- rename the `htmlType` prop to `type`
- propagate the changes where necessary
- format code

## How to test

As this is just prop renaming, if it builds it's ok

Mert YEREKAPANandkemal 2191669d08 feat(studio): add upgrade CTA placement experiment (#45858)
## Summary

Replaces the header upgrade CTA (PR #44494, which design team wanted to
iterate on) with a placement experiment that tests three non-chrome
surfaces for the free-plan "Upgrade to Pro" CTA.

PostHog flag `upgradeCtaPlacement` (free-plan users only) with four
arms:

| Variant | Surface |
| --- | --- |
| `control` | No CTA (baseline cohort, still tracked) |
| `user_dropdown` | Full-width button pinned in the account dropdown |
| `org_projects_list` | Project-card-shaped usage tile, first card in
the org project grid |

## Details

### `user_dropdown`
- Full-width `Upgrade to Pro` button in `UserDropdown`, gated to
org-scoped routes only (`/project/*`, `/org/*`) so the org-billing CTA
never shows on `/account`, `/organizations`, etc. — addresses the scope
concern raised in review.
- Dropdown uses controlled `open` state so it closes before navigation
(it lives in the global layout, so a route change alone wouldn't dismiss
the overlay).

### `org_projects_list`
- `PlanUsageCard` renders as the first `<li>` in the project grid (via
`ProjectList`'s `prependCard`), matching `ProjectCard` shape so it reads
like another project tile. Also renders during the project-list loading
state to avoid pop-in.
<img width="3804" height="1494" alt="Arc 2026-06-08 20 02 54"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/09c2218c-43d1-49ce-bae7-5075c9750d72"
/>

### Shared card styling
- Metric rows (Egress, Database size, Monthly active users, File
storage) show `current / limit` with a progress ring; ring/value turn
warning at ≥80% and over at ≥100%.
- Rows are clickable deep-links to `/org/[slug]/usage#<anchor>` with a
hover chevron and dashed separators; the same row component is used by
both the embedded and project-card variants.
- Skeleton placeholder renders from first paint so the card reserves
layout while `useOrgUsageQuery` resolves.
- Exposure is fired optimistically while the org query loads (skeleton
shows immediately), but the experiment exposure event only fires once
free-plan is confirmed.

### Telemetry
- `upgrade_cta_clicked` with `placement: user_dropdown | home_usage_card
| org_projects_list`.
- `upgrade_cta_placement_experiment_exposed` with `variant` — the custom
exposure event (snake_case experiment id `upgrade_cta_placement`; the
flag key stays camelCase `upgradeCtaPlacement`).

### Header CTA sunset
- `HeaderUpgradeButton` and its wiring in `LayoutHeader` /
`MobileNavigationBar` removed (master's #46144 already removed the
button; this branch drops the remaining `header_upgrade_cta_clicked`
event).

## Before merging
- [x] Create the `upgradeCtaPlacement` flag + experiment in PostHog (4
variants, free-plan targeting, custom exposure event
`upgrade_cta_placement_experiment_exposed`).
- [x] Archive the now-orphaned `headerUpgradeCta` flag.

## Test plan
- [x] Override the flag per variant via the dev toolbar on staging;
confirm each surface renders and `upgrade_cta_clicked` fires with the
right `placement`.
- [x] `control` shows no CTA but still emits the exposure event.
- [x] Paid-plan org and self-hosted (`IS_PLATFORM=false`) show nothing.
- [x] Clicking a metric row deep-links to the matching usage section;
clicking Upgrade routes to billing.

## Summary by CodeRabbit

* **New Features**
* Experimentally surface an “Upgrade to Pro” CTA in the user dropdown
and on the projects page for eligible free-plan orgs.
* Added a Plan Usage card showing free-plan metrics and upgrade prompts
on the organization projects page; hides when irrelevant or errored.
* Project list and its loading view support inserting a custom/prepend
card in card mode.

* **Telemetry**
* Added tracking for CTA clicks and experiment exposure; placement is
persisted per org.

Jordi Enric d8bb0ade65 feat(studio): add timezone picker to user dropdown (#45517)
## Problem

The dashboard renders all timestamps in the browser's local timezone.
When debugging app issues, users often want to see logs and timestamps
in a different timezone (e.g. their app's deployment region) without
changing their OS clock.

## Fix

- New Timezone submenu in the user-avatar dropdown, sitting next to the
existing Theme picker. Search-as-you-type combobox over the full IANA
catalog plus an Auto detect option.
- Selection persists in localStorage (`supabase-ui-timezone`) and
survives `clearLocalStorage()`. No backend schema change.
- New `lib/datetime.tsx` exposes pure timezone-aware formatters
(`formatDateTime`, `formatDate`, `formatTime`, `formatFromNow`,
`toTimezone`) plus a `TimezoneProvider` and matching React hooks
(`useTimezone`, `useFormatDateTime`, ...). The pure functions take `tz`
explicitly so they're easy to unit test (17 vitest cases covering DST
transitions, multi-tz formatting, unix-micro/Date inputs, invalid-tz
fallback).
- The selected timezone propagates to every existing `<TimestampInfo>`
in Studio via a new `TimestampInfoProvider` context exported from
`ui-patterns`. No per-callsite changes needed for those ~20+ surfaces.
- The `UnifiedLogs` date column migrates off `date-fns` to the new
`useFormatDateTime` hook (the rest of the date-fns callers stay as-is,
since they're either internal range math or non-display).
- `ALL_TIMEZONES` (~600 entries) moves out of `PITR.constants.ts` into a
shared `lib/constants/timezones.ts`. PITR keeps a re-export shim so its
callers don't move. New `TIMEZONES_BY_IANA` dedupes the catalog by
primary IANA name (the original list contains both PDT and PST rows for
`America/Los_Angeles`, etc.) and `findTimezoneByIana` provides reverse
lookup.
- Telemetry: `timezone_picker_clicked` PostHog event with
`previousTimezone`, `nextTimezone`, `isAutoDetected` properties.

Notes for reviewers:
- Bare `dayjs(x).format(...)` calls (~157 files) intentionally still
render in browser-local time. Surfaces opt in by switching to the new
wrappers, so this PR is the abstraction plus logs adoption; broader
migration is a follow-up.
- Two `// prettier-ignore` lines (`apps/studio/pages/_app.tsx`,
`apps/studio/components/interfaces/UnifiedLogs/UnifiedLogs.fields.tsx`)
work around a pre-existing local-tooling issue where
`prettier-plugin-sql-cst` strips angle-bracket type arguments under
certain conditions. Project's pinned prettier (3.8.1) does not strip;
the issue surfaces with a globally-installed prettier. Worth tracking
separately.
- Hydration: `guessLocalTimezone()` and `useLocalStorageQuery` are
client-only. Studio is mostly CSR via the Pages Router, but any SSR'd
`<TimestampInfo>` may briefly render in the server's tz before client
hydration. Existing behavior already had this mismatch with `.local()`;
this PR does not regress it.
- Backend timestamps round-tripped through query params and mutations
stay UTC. The picker is display-only.

## How to test

- Run `pnpm dev:studio`, sign in.
- Open the user avatar dropdown (top right). Hover Timezone.
- Search for "tokyo", pick `(UTC+09:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo`.
- Open any project, navigate to Logs (e.g. `Project > Logs > Edge
Functions`). Hover a log row's timestamp; the popover should show UTC,
the chosen tz (`Asia/Tokyo`), and the relative time. Visible cell text
should be in JST.
- Visit any page that uses `<TimestampInfo>` (Database > Backups,
Project Pause state, Edge Function details). Same tooltip should reflect
Asia/Tokyo.
- Refresh the page; timezone is still Asia/Tokyo.
- Reopen the picker, choose Auto detect; timestamps revert to browser
local.
- Run `pnpm --filter studio test lib/datetime.test.ts`. 17 tests should
pass.

Mert YEREKAPAN da81b2f14d feat(studio): add click tracking for top bar buttons (#45414)
## Summary

Adds PostHog click/open tracking for every interactive element in the
Studio top bar. Previously only 5 of ~16 surfaces were tracked.

### New events (16)

| Event | Surface |
|---|---|
| `home_logo_clicked` | Supabase logo |
| `header_back_to_dashboard_clicked` | Mobile back chevron |
| `header_exceeding_usage_badge_clicked` | "Exceeding usage limits"
badge |
| `organization_dropdown_opened` | Org dropdown trigger |
| `project_dropdown_opened` | Project dropdown trigger |
| `branch_dropdown_opened` | Branch dropdown trigger |
| `merge_request_button_clicked` | MR trigger (separate from existing
success event) |
| `connect_button_clicked` | Connect CTA |
| `feedback_dropdown_opened` | Feedback dropdown trigger |
| `advisor_button_clicked` | Advisor toggle |
| `inline_editor_button_clicked` | SQL editor toggle |
| `assistant_button_clicked` | AI Assistant toggle |
| `user_dropdown_opened` | Account dropdown |
| `local_dropdown_opened` | Local-dev settings dropdown |
| `local_version_popover_opened` | CLI version popover |

### Notes
- Uses `useTrack` (per `telemetry-standards`), all event names use
approved `_clicked` / `_opened` verbs.
- Dropdown `onOpenChange` handlers guard against Radix's double-fire by
only tracking when `open === true`.
- `merge_request_button_clicked` fires on the trigger click; the
existing `branch_create_merge_request_button_clicked` continues to fire
on successful MR creation.
- Pre-existing tracked surfaces (`command_menu_opened`,
`help_button_clicked`, `header_upgrade_cta_clicked`,
`send_feedback_button_clicked`) are unchanged.

## Test plan

- [x] Spot-check each event fires once per interaction in PostHog Live
Events
- [x] Verify no double-fire on dropdown close

## Summary by CodeRabbit

* **Chores**
* Added telemetry tracking for many header/navigation interactions
(logo, back-to-dashboard, usage badge,
connect/merge/advisor/assistant/inline-editor buttons, and multiple
dropdowns/popovers).
* **Tests**
* Updated tests to stub telemetry calls so UI tests remain stable and
deterministic.

Erik Hjelm Fjeldheim 4429201088 fix: add pointer cursor to user dropdown items (closes #42360) (#42361)
## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.

YES

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?

Bug fix / UI Polish

## What is the current behavior?

Interactive menu items in the User Account dropdown (top right profile
picture) use the `default` (arrow) cursor. This makes it less intuitive
that these items are clickable.

Closes #42360

## What is the new behavior?

This PR adds `cursor-pointer` to all interactive menu items in both the
[UserDropdown](cci:1://file:///home/erik/Documents/supabase/apps/studio/components/interfaces/UserDropdown.tsx:27:0-140:1)
(platform) and
[LocalDropdown](cci:1://file:///home/erik/Documents/supabase/apps/studio/components/interfaces/LocalDropdown.tsx:21:0-68:1)
(local/self-hosted) components. This provides correct visual feedback to
users when hovering over:
- Account preferences
- Feature previews
- Command menu (local)
- Theme selections
- Logout

## Additional context

Verified the changes locally for both
[LocalDropdown](cci:1://file:///home/erik/Documents/supabase/apps/studio/components/interfaces/LocalDropdown.tsx:21:0-68:1)
and
[UserDropdown](cci:1://file:///home/erik/Documents/supabase/apps/studio/components/interfaces/UserDropdown.tsx:27:0-140:1).

Charis 297822b0b7 fix(logout): don't use returnTo on sign-in page if user intentionally logs out (#40155)
When user logs out from the user dropdown, they're redirected to the
sign-in page via the withAuth redirect, which means that the returnTo
param is used -- but if the user _intentionally_ logged out, this might
not be the right behavior, i.e., if they want to log in to another
account. Instead, if they chose to log out, we shouldn't use the
returnTo param.

Since the /logout page already implements this behavior, I changed "Log
out" button to just route to the /logout page.

* refactor(ai assistant): break up message component

* refactor: break ai assistant message down into multiple files

can be distinguished.

* fix: minor tweaks to tool ui

* refactor: simplify DisplayBlockRenderer state

* fix: remove double deploy button in edge function block

When the confirm footer is shown, the deploy button on the top right should be
hidden (not just disabled) to avoid confusion.

Refactor the message sanitization to have more type safety and be more testable.
Add tests to ensure:

- Message sanitization always runs on generate-v4
- Message sanitization correctly works by opt-in level

* Fix conflicts in pnpm lock

* Couple of nits and refactors

* Revert casing for report block snippet

* adjust sanitised prompt

* Fix tests

a1f2e50068 feat(profile): add self-serve editing of username and primary email (#38042)
* feat(profile): add self-serve editing of username and primary email

Users can now update `username` and choose a `primary_email` directly in the
Dashboard profile editor.

Changes:
- Add `username` and `primary_email` fields to the profile form.
- Introduce `Select_Shadcn_` dropdown listing the user's identities
  (via `useProfileIdentitiesQuery`) for selecting a primary email.
- Default `primary_email` selection is derived from the current profile.
- Extend form submission to patch `username` and `primary_email` to the
  profile API.
- Wire zod schema and react-hook-form defaults for new fields.

* chore: remove unused variable

* fix: disable username & primary_email modification for SSO users

* Small refactors

* Remove hard code

* Refactor to use FormItemLayout

* chore: add descriptions for primary_email and username

* chore: fix format and lint error
