When the dashboard hits a DB connection timeout, users currently see a
raw error message with no
path forward. This PR adds an inline troubleshooting system that detects
known error types and
surfaces contextual next steps — restart the DB, read the docs, or debug
with AI.
## Changes
- New ErrorDisplay component (packages/ui-patterns) — styled error card
with a title, monospace error
block, optional troubleshooting slot, and a "Contact support" link that
always renders. Accepts
typed supportFormParams to pre-fill the support form.
- Error classification in handleError (data/fetchers.ts) — on every API
error, the message is tested
against ERROR_PATTERNS. If matched, handleError throws a typed subclass
(ConnectionTimeoutError
extends ResponseError) instead of a plain ResponseError. Stack traces
now show the exact error
class. All existing instanceof ResponseError checks continue to work.
- ErrorMatcher component — reads errorType from the thrown class
instance, does an O(1) lookup into
ERROR_MAPPINGS, and renders the matching troubleshooting accordion as
children of ErrorDisplay.
Falls back to plain ErrorDisplay for unclassified errors.
- Connection timeout mapping — first error type wired up, with three
troubleshooting steps: restart
the database, link to the docs, and "Debug with AI" (opens the AI
assistant sidebar with a
pre-filled prompt).
- Telemetry — three new typed events track when the troubleshooter is
shown, when accordion steps are
toggled, and which CTAs are clicked.
## Adding a new error type
1. Add a class to types/api-errors.ts
2. Add { pattern, ErrorClass } to data/error-patterns.ts
3. Create a troubleshooting component in errorMappings/
4. Add an entry to error-mappings.tsx

Related to FE-2557
Part of shifting manually written dashboard queries into
packages/pg-meta where
- pg-meta can be code owners of
- we can write tests for the queries
This PR just shifts all the `.sql.ts` files that we previously created
into packages/pg-meta
There's still other areas where we need to shift over as well which I'll
address in subsequent PRs
## Notable changes
- `getTableRowsCountSql` -> Opted to shift `formatFilterValue` logic out
before calling this method (ref `table-rows-count-query`)
- `getDeleteOldCronJobRunDetailsByCtidSql` -> Opted to shift
`validatePageNumber` logic out before calling this method (ref
`CronJobsTab.useCleanupActions`)
`/incident-status` and `/incident-banner` are not cached because they
include auth cookies which busts Vercel cache. This PR add `credentials:
omit` since they calls don't need auth cookies and they're same for all
users.
The incident queries have been hammering statuspage and incident.io API
endpoints which has resulted in 429 and 75% of all requests failing.
This PR sets the retry on fail to 4s, 16s, 64s, 256s and 300s.
Previously it was set to 2s, 4s, 8s, 16s and 32s.

Feature
## What is the current behavior?
Incident banner logic depends on StatusPage and Supabase project for
metadata.
## What is the new behavior?
New incident banner logic that depends only on incident.io. Displays in
non-production environments for now because I haven't wired up the rest
of the workflow. This is just to allow a total end-to-end
testing/playground for test incidents <-> Slack <-> preview dashboard
for people to try out the UX.
## Additional context
You can test using my [test
incident](https://app.incident.io/supabase/incidents/405). This has
severity minor, so the preview site should have a banner. Toggle to
informative, hard refresh dashboard with cache off, and banner should
disappear. Toggle back to minor, hard refresh without cache again, and
banner should reappear. Same thing if you edit the "Banner shown" field
from 1 to -1 and back.
## Problem
In local/self-hosted mode, tables incorrectly show "API disabled" even
when they have valid RLS policies.
This happens because:
1. `project.connectionString` is `null` for local/self-hosted (defaults
to null per API types)
2. `useTablesRolesAccessQuery` has `!!connectionString` in its enabled
condition
3. The query never runs, so the UI can't determine actual API access
status
## Solution
Removed `!!connectionString` check from `useTablesRolesAccessQuery`'s
enabled condition.
This is safe cause:
- likewise `executeSql` already handles null/empty connectionString via
`connectionString ?? ''`
For local/self-hosted, the query works without connectionString (pg-meta
uses direct database connection)
The query now runs and correctly works

Other changes:
- form submissions with no table/function changes were failing because
an empty string got passed to executeSql. Added an early return when
there's nothing to execute
To test:
- Ensure the form is still in working order
- Create some tables and functions with the toggle on add off and make
sure your selected default applies
## Context
Related to dashboard scalability
Previous PR: https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/42856
Note: Changes are all feature flagged still and I'm still not entirely
convinced with the current UX
Will iterate as as go along, and only make this publicly available when
we're satisfied with the behaviour
Adds a "Dashboard preference" section to the project settings

/>
In which users can then select which database they'd like to use for
read queries run from the dashboard
Note: Everything is local storage for now, but we'd need middleware
support if we want to make this setting persist for all users on the
project

## To test
- Choosing a replica in dashboard preferences will only affect the table
editor as thats the only place that's set up so far to use a replica for
read queries (I'll need to follow up for other parts of the dashboard in
subsequent PRs)
### Changes
- Adds a dismissible banner prompting paid org users to add a Tax ID to
their billing settings
- Only shown to users with billing read permissions on orgs with a paid
plan and no Tax ID set
- Dismissal is persisted per-org via localStorage; banner also
auto-hides when a Tax ID is added
### Testing
- Log in as a user with no billing permissions into a Free Plan Org with
no tax id: no banner is shown
- Log in as a user with billing permissions into a Free Plan Org with no
tax id: no banner is shown
- Log in as a user with billing permissions into a Paid Plan Org with no
tax id
- Assert banner appears at the top
- Head to `/org/_/billing` with a paid Org. Change your billing country
to a not support one (like Paraguay) and click save. Assert that the
banner disappears. Change it back to continue testing.
- Click dismiss: banner disappears and stays dismissed across
navigation/refresh
- Log in as a user with billing permissions into a different Paid Plan
Org with no tax id
- Add a Tax ID via billing settings, assert that the banner disappears
immediately

## Changes
- Replaces plan ID-based chart gating with entitlement-based checks
across all observability pages (database, auth, realtime,
edge-functions)
- Adds requiredPlan display field so the upsell shows the correct target
plan (e.g. "Upgrade to Team" for disk throughput, not just "Upgrade")
- Decouples database-charts.ts from Organization Plan, now accepts
pre-computed entitlement flags instead
### Note on `requiredPlan`
The entitlement system currently tells us whether a user has access, but
not what plan they need to get access. `requiredPlan` is a frontend-only
display hint. Ideally the backend entitlement response would include a
minimumPlan field so we can remove this hardcoded mapping. For now, this
is a pragmatic workaround to avoid misleading upsell copy (e.g. a Free
user seeing "Upgrade" for a Team-only feature and landing on Pro).
## Testing

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Spotted by @kostasb, index advisor was recommending slightly different
column names. Index advisor was running on mismatched queries thus
recommending for the wrong table.
Previously `connectionString` was passed into the query key for
`table-rows`. Since `connectionString` is unstable, it would cause the
query key to change randomly, often making the user experience brief
random "no rows found" states while data loaded for the new key.
This PR uses `readReplicaIdentifier` as a stable version of
`connectionString`, maintaining the existing functionality while
avoiding the unnecessary data reloads.
Note that there are still quite a few places where `connectionString` is
passed into the query key. We'll fix these as follow up PRs.
I'm opting to also include the fix from
https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/43572 in here for consistency.
**To test:**
- Ensure table editor functions normally
- Use the table editor with a read replica selected
## Context
Initial ground work for Marketplace Integrations (feature flagged under
the flag `marketplaceIntegrations`), in which some integrations will be
fetched over a network request (than hard-coded within the repo).
Feature flag just controls whether to we need to fetch them.
Similarly, categories under "Explore" will also be fetched, and the flag
just decides whether that should be enabled.
We're also planning to update the overview tab for integrations as well,
in which integrations fetched over the network request will use the new
UI (altho not functional just yet)
## To test
Note that the LOC changes are seemingly large, but that's just because
I've added in a types file for the Supabase project that we're using to
store the integrations data
- [x] Verify that behaviour is status quo with the flag off (Priority)
- [x] Verify that behaviour is status quo on CLI / self-host env
- [x] Verify that with the flag on you'll see one of the new
integrations fetched over network (Grafana), including an additional
category "Observability" (and clicking into it will show the new UI)
- [x] Verify that all other existing integrations are status quo

## Problem
Editing a column from the schema visualiser requires many clicks
## Solution
When hovering over a column in the schema visualiser, an edit button
should appear on the right side. Clicking this button should open the
column edit pane on the right side of the screen. This would reduce the
number of clicks required and allow users to make edits directly from
the visualiser instead of using it only as a visual aid.
When saving Data API settings with only max rows changes (no
table/function privilege changes), updateExposedEntities sent an empty
string to pg-meta/query which failed server-side validation with 'String
must contain at least 1 character(s)'. Early return when there are no
SQL parts to execute.
**Changes:**
- Add function exposure controls to Data API settings
- Adds a per-function GRANT/REVOKE UI to the Data API settings page,
alongside the existing table selector.
- Empty state: shows "No tables/functions available" instead of "0 of 0
X exposed" when there's nothing to show
- Renamed update-exposed-tables-mutation →
update-exposed-entities-mutation to handle both tables and functions in
one save
**Decisions of note:**
- Functions are grouped by schema.name across overloads — toggling one
entry grants/revokes `EXECUTE` on all overloads
- Only normal and window functions are shown (`prokind in ('f', 'w')`) —
triggers and aggregates are excluded
---
**To test:**
- Table and schema selectors still works end-to-end
- Toggling a function and saving updates the count label and applies the
grant (check via SQL Editor: select * from
information_schema.role_routine_grants where routine_schema = 'public')
- Functions in unexposed schemas are dimmed and unclickable
- With no functions in the selected schemas, the selector label reads
"No functions available" and the dropdown shows the same
## Context
We reached to a consensus that we'll keep manually written queries
within the `pg-meta` package
I'll shift queries over in several PRs but wanted to double check if the
changes here is a good folder structure
## Changes involved
- Am organizing dashboard queries in `pg-meta` based on product
- So folder structure will be `/sql/studio/[product]/*.ts`
- Every constant will be exported directly from `pg-meta`'s index
- So consumption in dashboard will just be `import { xxx } from
'@supabase/pg-meta`
cc @avallete and @soedirgo on this one - lemme know if this is alright,
or if there's a preferred way to do this
Bug fix
## What is the current behavior?
Read-only users cannot download files because the download feature
requires minting a temporary API key, which is properly blocked for
read-only users.
## What is the new behavior?
Instead of using temporary API keys, we now create signed URLs for the
files to be downloaded. We batch-create signed URLs for an entire
folder's worth of files, requiring only a single management API call,
then use those signed URLs to download the files. This allows read-only
users to download files without needing elevated permissions.

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
This introduces a small snippet preview of the error code coming via our
content API for the docs. This appears in a couple of places right now.
- **Auth Overview** - This page isn't fully released yet, but it appears
on the error codes table (as depicted below).
- **Logs** - When you delve into the logs panel, if there's an error
code available, they're also wrapped in this popover.
We are also working on a shared-data package (#43458) to potentially
replace this endpoint internally. Also introduces a multifaceted button
to debug/fix with either Assistant or LLM of choice.

To test:
- make sure the existing (feature flag off) settings work as expected
- make sure exposing and removing schemas works in the new mode
- make sure exposing and removing tables works in the new mode
- ideally try with a lot of tables to check search and infinite scroll
work as expected
- try exposing a schema without any tables (like `graphql_public`) and
make sure it doesn't get removed randomly when editing tables
- try with a table with custom permissions (for example `REVOKE SELECT
ON public.posts FROM anon;`) and make sure the user is informed with the
tooltip

This pull request makes a minor adjustment to the temporary API key
validation logic. The key is now considered invalid if it has less than
30 seconds remaining before expiry, instead of the previous 20 seconds.
This change helps avoid edge cases where a key might expire during use.
## Context
Part of dashboard scalability project
Opting to use the connection string of the project's read replica (if
available) for read queries on the database.
Trialing with the Table Editor as a first pass - changes involved will
opt to use replica connection string for `useTableRowsQuery`,
`useTableRowsCountQuery`, and `useForeignKeyConstraintsQuery`
There's definitely optimizations to be done for deciding which replica
to use - but am starting off with a rather naive logic to prioritize
replicas in the same region as the project.
## Changes involved
- We're no longer passing `connectionString` as a param into the
affected hooks, the `connectionString` is derived from within those
hooks instead
- Change is feature flagged, so things should be status quo if flag is
off (use primary database's connection string)
- Added `useConnectionStringForReadOps` hook which returns the replica's
connection string if (Otherwise defaults to primary database connection
string)
- Feature flag is on
- Project has a replica available
## To test
- [ ] Verify that the table editor works as expected for a project that
has read replicas (There shouldn't be any change really)
- [ ] Also just double check that updating cells in the table editor
works as well (There's no change there, we're using the primary DB's
connection string for mutation ops)
- [ ] ^ Same thing for a project that doesn't have read replicas
- [ ] ^ Same thing for local / self-host

## Changes involved
- Created a `useProjectApiUrl` hook that will return the API URL
depending if custom domains is available, otherwise default to default
project API URL
- Refactored all the other places that were manually deriving the
project's endpoint
- Storage Explorer -> copy URL
- Edge Functions
- Integrations -> Data API + API Docs
- Auth Providers -> Callback URL
- Also updated the copy CTA for the addons page
- Instead of just "Change xxx", make it a bit more actionable
- For add ons with binary states (Custom domains, IPv4)
- If not enabled yet, "Enable xxx", otherwise "Toggle xxx"
- For PITR
- If not enabled yet, "Enable PITR", otherwise "Change recovery
duration"
- Also added "Edit custom domain" CTA if enabled

/>
## To test
- [ ] Verify that for a project with custom domain set up, all the
affected UI mentioned in the above section look correct
## Problem
The Performance Advisor warning "Auth Absolute Connection Management
Strategy" persists after switching from "Absolute" to "Percentage"
allocation strategy, even after project restart.
PR #41652 added cache invalidation but the frontend doesn't immediately
refetch, so stale lint data may be displayed until the next natural
refetch occurs.
## Solution
Force an immediate refetch of lint data after invalidating the cache.
This ensures the backend re-evaluates the `auth_db_connections_absolute`
lint with the updated `DB_MAX_POOL_SIZE_UNIT` configuration value.
## Changes
- Added `refetchQueries` call after cache invalidation in
`useAuthConfigUpdateMutation`
- Uses `type: 'active'` to only refetch active queries (React Query best
practice)

The Y axis domain/range was being calculated incorrectly.
Testing this is a bit painful. You need to:
- using tweak-extension or similar overwrite the API response for the
IOPS chart and add a really big value
- reload the page
- the Y axis should adapt to that really big value even if it goes over
the disk max iops
See screenshots below

Feature enhancement — smarter incident banner targeting logic
## What is the current behavior?
Displaying the incident banner requires toggling a flag or environment
variable. Banners are shown to all users regardless of whether their
projects are in affected regions or whether the incident affects project
creation.
## What is the new behavior?
Banner visibility is now driven by `show_banner` metadata from the
StatusPage API — no manual flag or env var toggle needed. Per-user
targeting is then applied:
- Users with projects only see the banner when they have a database in
an affected region
- Users without projects only see the banner when the incident affects
project creation
Incident responses are enriched with cache data (`affected_regions`,
`affects_project_creation`) fetched from a Supabase table. Visibility
logic is extracted into a dedicated hook and pure utility function,
backed by unit tests.

Since moving notifications to the Advisors Panel, we've been sending
`org_slug` and `project_ref` to the GET notifications endpoint, which
resulted in certain notifications not being returned such as those that
are user specific (no org slug nor project ref)
Am opting to remove both slug and ref filters for the notifications as
the notifications should be on a user level (irregardless if you're
within a project or not) - the Advisor's Panel's button in the layout
header would also suggest that notifications in there are not tied to an
org or project
## To test
This one's a bit tricky to test unless you have notifications on
staging, but i've double checked on prod with a curl command that
removing the org slug and project ref filters returns the correct
notifications

## Additional context
I wonder if this is overkill given most folks only have 1–2 projects.
Some ideas:
- Only sortable in table view via column headers
- Conditional rendering for folks with 2+ projects
- Opt-in feature
- Feature-flag
I’ve opted to make it global and synced for now.

## Context
Noticed that the table editor prefetch wasn't working as intended as the
table's rows were getting fetched again when opening the table.
Fix is that `preflightCheck` should've been excluded from the
`table-rows` query key
## To test
Within the Table Editor
- [ ] Verify that `table-rows` is getting prefetched when hovering over
a table in the side menu
- [ ] Verify that `table-rows` doesn't get fetched again when opening
the table subsequently (There shouldn't be a UI loader too - rows should
render immediately)

- `AIAssistant.tsx` & `ModelSelector.tsx`: Use
`useCheckEntitlements('assistant.advance_model')` instead of `plan.id
!== 'free'`
**Server-side:**
- `org-ai-details.ts`: Check `assistant.advance_model` entitlement via
new `checkEntitlement()` helper
- `entitlements-query.ts`: Add `checkEntitlement()` function with auth
headers support for server-side calls
### Test 1: Free Plan (No Entitlement)
- Open AI Assistant with a Free plan org
- Check model selector defaults to gpt-5-mini
- Click dropdown - verify gpt-5 shows "Upgrade" badge
- Click gpt-5 - should redirect to billing page
- Assert that you can send a message to the Assistant and that you get a
response

/>
### Test 2: Paid Plan (Has Entitlement)
- Switch to Pro/Team/Enterprise org
- Check model selector defaults to gpt-5
- Click dropdown - verify gpt-5 shows checkmark (no badge)
- Switch to gpt-5-mini, then back to gpt-5 - should work without
redirect
- Assert that you can send a message to the Assistant and that you get a
response

Table Editor: Adding a CTA to the `HighQueryCost` UI to allow users to
proceed with fetching data despite the high query cost warning, to
prevent completely blocking the users from their workflows (realised
that certain heavy queries are required and this safeguard shouldn't be
creating dead-ends for users)

Clicking "Load more" will open a confirmation dialog, in which
proceeding to load the data will thereafter suppress this preflight
check for the table, for the rest of the browser session

## Other changes
- Also bumped the query cost threshold from 100,000 to 200,000 - the
former might have been too aggressive 😓
- (Unrelated) Added query cost tooltip for cron jobs high query cost
warning

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Documentation / text fix (grammar)
## What is the current behavior?
Several places in the codebase use "a" before acronyms that start with
vowel sounds, which is grammatically incorrect:
- "enter a MFA code" (MFA is pronounced "em-eff-ay", starting with a
vowel sound)
- "a SMS with a OTP" (SMS = "ess-em-ess", OTP = "oh-tee-pee")
## What is the new behavior?
Corrected to use "an" before acronyms with vowel sounds:
- "enter an MFA code"
- "an SMS with an OTP"
## Files changed
- `apps/studio/data/profile/mfa-challenge-and-verify-mutation.ts` -
comment fix
- `apps/docs/content/guides/platform/multi-factor-authentication.mdx` -
user-facing docs
- `apps/docs/docs/ref/javascript/v1/upgrade-guide.mdx` - code comment in
example
- `apps/docs/docs/ref/dart/v0/upgrade-guide.mdx` - code comment in
example
## Additional context
The rule: use "an" before acronyms pronounced with an initial vowel
sound, regardless of the first letter. "MFA" starts with "em" (vowel
sound), "SMS" starts with "ess" (vowel sound), "OTP" starts with "oh"
(vowel sound).
This pull request introduces improvements to the handling of storage
endpoints in the Studio app, ensuring that storage operations utilize
the correct endpoint and enhancing maintainability through import path
updates and code clarity. The most significant changes are grouped
below:
**Storage Endpoint Handling:**
* The `useProjectEndpointQuery` hook now returns both `clientEndpoint`
and `storageEndpoint`, allowing storage operations to use a dedicated
endpoint when available.
* In the `StorageExplorerStateContextProvider`, the logic for
constructing the resumable upload URL now prefers `storageEndpoint` if
present, falling back to `clientEndpoint` otherwise. This ensures
uploads use the most appropriate endpoint.
* The context provider now sets `clientEndpoint` to `storageEndpoint`
when available, further aligning storage requests with the correct
endpoint.
* The dependency array for the provider effect now includes
`storageEndpoint`, ensuring state updates when the storage endpoint
changes.
**Code Quality and Maintainability:**
* Import paths in `storage-explorer.tsx` have been updated to use alias
(`@/`) references, improving clarity and maintainability. Type-only
imports are also used where appropriate, reducing bundle size and
potential circular dependencies.
**Code Clarity:**
* Added comments to chunk size calculations in the upload logic,
clarifying the rationale behind chunk sizing for different file sizes.
Detects HIPAA customers server-side in the assistant code path. Threads
`isHipaaEnabled` boolean through `getOrgAIDetails` → `generate-v4` →
`generateAssistantResponse`. The motivation is to support online evals
down the road, where we'll want to exclude HIPAA projects from Assistant
tracing.
This PR follows existing patterns for checking if HIPAA is enabled for a
project (org has HIPAA addon + project is sensitive). Example

```ts
const hasHipaaAddon = subscriptionHasHipaaAddon(subscription) && settings?.is_sensitive
```
(I call it `isHipaaEnabled` in this PR to avoid it being misunderstood
as just the org-level addon, rather it's a combo of that addon being
present AND high compliance being enabled on the project).
### Verification steps
<details><summary>Click to view the steps I followed to sanity check it
works with the local stack</summary>
Tested locally with `mise fullstack`:
1. Found my org's subscription ID:
```sh
docker exec platform-db-1 psql -U postgres -c "SELECT id, customer_id,
status FROM orb.subscriptions;"
```
2. Added HIPAA addon to it:
```sh
docker exec platform-db-1 psql -U postgres -c "
UPDATE orb.subscriptions
SET price_intervals = price_intervals || '[{\"price\": {\"unit_config\":
{\"unit_amount\": \"350.00\"}, \"external_price_id\":
\"addon_security_hipaa\", \"item\": {\"name\": \"HIPAA\"}}}]'::jsonb
WHERE id = '<subscription_id>';"
```
2. Toggled on High Compliance (Project Settings → General)
3. Added a temporary log after `getOrgAIDetails` in `generate-v4.ts`:
```ts
console.log('[HIPAA]', { isHipaaEnabled })
```
4. Sent a message in the AI Assistant → `isHipaaEnabled: true`
5. Toggled off High Compliance → resent → `isHipaaEnabled: false`
6. Removed addon from subscription, left project toggle on →
`isHipaaEnabled: false`
```sql
-- Find addon index:
SELECT ordinality - 1 as idx FROM orb.subscriptions,
jsonb_array_elements(price_intervals) WITH ORDINALITY AS elem(val,
ordinality)
WHERE id = '<subscription_id>'
AND val->'price'->>'external_price_id' = 'addon_security_hipaa';
-- Remove by index:
UPDATE orb.subscriptions SET price_intervals = price_intervals - <idx>
WHERE id = '<subscription_id>';
```
All three cases confirm `isHipaaEnabled` requires both the org addon and
the project-level toggle.
