feat(lint): add shadcn lint warnings (#50676)
## Problem six apps had no shared lint checks for invalid tailwind classes, off-scale values, and raw colors. ## Solution add @shadcn/lint warnings with narrow exceptions for existing theme colors and artwork. fix several invalid classes. the existing lint command reports findings without blocking prs on the current warning count. ## Review instructions 1. check the shared rules and app-specific exceptions. 2. run `pnpm --filter design-system lint` and confirm it reports shadcn warnings without errors. ## Checklist Check all before review: - [x] I have read [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [x] If I wrote a new docs topic or edited an existing topic, I used the `/write-the-docs` or `/edit-the-docs` skill, which references [WORD_LIST](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/WORD_LIST.md) and the docs [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md) guide ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Improved vertical alignment of checkbox labels and supporting text in dialogs, settings, and examples. * Corrected alignment of organization member details and the color styling of deprecated chart text. * Standardized spacing in the date and time editor without changing its appearance or behavior. * **Developer Experience** * Updated linting and UI configuration across several apps to support consistent style checks. |

fix(ui): align primary colours across text, buttons, and controls (#50697)
## Problem Primary colour serves readable text and selected controls, but those uses need different shades. Light mode needs darker text, while dark mode needs a deeper button fill. Fixed brand green on interactive chrome also prevents a custom primary hue from carrying through the interface. Some slider tracks and selected text are hard to read. ## Solution - Keep `--primary` for accessible text and small selected indicators. Use `--primary-solid` for button fills, which need a deeper shade in dark mode. - Add `--primary-bright` for focus rings, selected control chrome, chart accents, and other interactive highlights. It follows `--primary-hue`; `brand-*` stays fixed for Supabase identity. - Make slider troughs clearer and text selection translucent with theme foreground text. - Document the split in the design-system colour guide. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | | | | | | | | | ## Review instructions 1. Compare light and dark mode in the [colour usage guide](https://design-system-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/color-usage#primary-and-brand-colors). Check primary ink, primary-solid, primary-bright, and fixed brand swatches. 2. In Studio, open the ‘new table’ sheet in [Table Editor](https://studio-staging-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/dashboard/project/_/editor). Tab through the new table sheet's fields and toggles. Check the focus rings, selected controls, and the sheet's edges in both themes. You do not need to save a table. 3. Select text in Studio in both themes, including a link or primary-coloured label. The selection and text should remain legible. 4. Check the [Field](https://design-system-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/components/field) Price Range slider: the unused track should remain visible in both themes. The selected field card border should follow primary-bright. 5. Check the [Button](https://design-system-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/components/button) and [Radio Group](https://design-system-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/components/radio-group) previews. In dark mode, `primary` button fill should be deeper than primary [text](https://design-system-git-dnywh-fix-bright-brand-chrome-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/color-usage#text); selected radios should remain readable. |

Update Studio disk IO burst copy (#50809)
## Problem Studio copy ties disk IO burst behavior to compute size thresholds and says the IO budget "resets". Burst eligibility isn't a single size cutoff EBS burst credits refill continuously while disk usage runs below baseline Docs already use this framing (#50016) Fixes PROD-665 ## Solution Three copy changes: - `UnavailableChartBlock.tsx`: the burst balance chart placeholder no longer names a size. It now describes sustained IO with no burst credit pool - `database-charts.ts`: the Disk IO Burst Balance tooltip describes the EBS burst credit pool without referencing instance size - `ResourceExhaustionWarningBanner.constants.ts`: the warning and critical banners say the budget refills whenever disk usage runs below baseline, instead of "resets" ## Review instructions 1. Read the diff. Copy changes only. 2. Optional: on a project with burstable disk IO, open Reports > Database and hover the Disk IO Burst Balance chart title to see the new tooltip. ## Checklist Check all before review: - [x] I have read [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [x] If I wrote a new docs topic or edited an existing topic, I used the `/write-the-docs` or `/edit-the-docs` skill, which references [WORD_LIST](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/WORD_LIST.md) and the docs [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/apps/docs/CONTRIBUTING.md) guide ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Documentation * Updated disk I/O chart messaging to explain that some compute types sustain disk throughput without a burst credit pool to track. * Clarified that disk I/O burst budgets refill when demand is at or below baseline, and that throughput remains at baseline until the budget refills. * Updated the burst-balance chart tooltip to describe how compute uses the EBS burst credit pool. |

feat(studio): migrate Auth and Realtime reports to OTEL (#50663)
## Problem PR #50638 migrates API Gateway and Data API reports to OTEL, but the shared Auth and Realtime metrics still select legacy BigQuery SQL and the `logs.all` endpoint. ## Fix Route all active hosted shared API reports through the existing OTEL builders after feature flags load. Remove unused report variants and their source-selection abstraction while preserving the legacy BigQuery path for self-hosted Studio. This PR is stacked on #50638. ## How to test - Open the Auth observability report and confirm its seven shared metric requests use `logs.all.otel` with a `/auth` request-path filter. - Open the Realtime observability report and confirm its seven shared metric requests use `logs.all.otel` with a `/realtime` request-path filter. - Open the Data API report and confirm its existing OTEL behavior remains unchanged with a `/rest` request-path filter. - Expected result: hosted reports wait for ConfigCat before querying, while self-hosted Studio continues using the legacy BigQuery path. - Run `./apps/studio/node_modules/.bin/vitest --run apps/studio/components/interfaces/Reports/Reports.constants.otel.test.ts --config apps/studio/vitest.config.ts`. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Changes** - Shared API reports now support filtering by Auth, Realtime, and PostgREST traffic. - Filters for Storage, GraphQL, Functions, and other previously supported traffic types are no longer available. - Report queries now consistently use edge log data, improving consistency across request totals, routes, errors, response times, and network traffic metrics. - OpenTelemetry-backed reporting is now enabled consistently across supported report types where available. |

feat(studio): migrate API reports to OTEL (#50638)
## Problem The API Gateway and Data API observability reports still send legacy BigQuery SQL to the logs.all endpoint. The Data API shared-report hook also hardcodes logs.all, so the otelReports flag cannot move that report to ClickHouse. ## Fix - Add the ClickHouse requests-by-country query needed by API Gateway. - Select API Gateway SQL and endpoint atomically from otelReports. - Route the Data API PostgREST report through the existing tested OTEL API query builders and logs.all.otel. - Wait for ConfigCat before the Data API sends a request, avoiding an initial legacy request while the flag loads. - Keep logs.all behavior when the flag is disabled and leave other shared reports unchanged. ## How to test 1. Enable otelReports and open API Gateway, then confirm its report requests use logs.all.otel. 2. Open Data API and confirm all report requests use logs.all.otel with a request.path filter for /rest. 3. Change the date range, add a filter, and refresh each report. 4. Disable otelReports and confirm both reports use logs.all. All OTEL query shapes were tested individually against logs.all.otel. The focused query suite and lint pass locally. ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - API reports can use OpenTelemetry data when enabled. - Added country-level request reporting, excluding requests without country information. - Added OpenTelemetry-backed PostgREST reports and Storage cache hit/miss metrics. - **Improvements** - Reports wait for required configuration before loading data. - Refreshing reports consistently refetches active metrics. - Improved error handling for analytics query failures. - Improved report accuracy with numeric time buckets and more precise attribute filtering. |

feat(studio): migrate Storage report to OTEL (#50519)
## Problem
The Storage observability report still sends legacy BigQuery SQL to the
`logs.all` analytics endpoint, so it cannot use the ClickHouse-backed
OTEL logs path.
## Fix
Add ClickHouse query variants for the API and cache metrics used by the
Storage report, and switch SQL plus endpoint together behind
`otelReports`. Keep legacy behavior when the flag is disabled and
prevent requests until feature flags have resolved on platform.
Tested by checking the preview AND running all queries in log explorer
one by one ✅
## How to test
- Run `CI=1 pnpm --filter studio exec vitest run
components/interfaces/Reports/Reports.constants.otel.test.ts
data/reports/storage-report-query.test.tsx`
- Enable `otelReports`, open Project > Observability > Storage, and
verify all charts load.
- Expected result: Storage analytics requests use `logs.all.otel` with
ClickHouse SQL; no legacy request is sent during flag hydration.

feat(design-system): first pass at db report chart colours (#46787)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? This is a first draft at introducing semantic colours to our Observability charts. This moves away from just random colours being assigned to prop after prop. They're only scoped to the Database reports right now, but if it flows nice, we can open it up to the other reports too. This also aims to tone down some of the harsher colours in our charts, such as the orange which sometimes can look like a warning metric/prop. | Before | After | |--------|--------| | | | cc @supabase/design for additional thoughts. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added semantic chart color roles with light and dark theme variants for consistent visualizations. * Standardized colors and fills across database, networking, storage, and connection charts. * Maximum-value lines now use configured chart colors when available. * Added chart palette reference and stress-test examples. * Added stacked bar charts, customizable margins, and gradient-filled line charts. * Improved multi-series bar chart focus and date-range footer alignment. * **Documentation** * Documented the chart palette, theme variants, accessibility guidance, and usage recommendations. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Gildas Garcia <1122076+djhi@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(observability): replace egress chart with usage link FE-4310 (#49850)
## Problem The Network Traffic egress chart is derived from request logs and can substantially undercount billed traffic. Showing it beside diagnostic ingress data left customers with an untrustworthy egress number. ## Fix Remove the log-derived egress chart, retain ingress, and add a Billable egress callout that links to the selected organization’s Usage page. The callout is shown only on hosted Studio, where organization billing data is available. ## How to test - Open API, Storage, Auth, or PostgREST observability. - Confirm Network Traffic shows only the ingress chart. - Confirm the Billable egress callout links to the organization Usage page’s egress section. - Expected result: diagnostic traffic and billable usage are no longer presented as competing egress totals. - Automated checks: git diff --check and final code review passed. Focused lint could not run because missing dependencies require registry access, and DNS for registry.npmjs.org is unavailable. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Updates** * Clarified Network Traffic report tooltips to explain that ingress is measured from request logs. * Platform deployment reports now display ingress data only; egress charts are no longer shown. * Added a notice linking to the Usage page for billable egress details. * Applied the updated Network Traffic explanation consistently across API overview, storage, and shared report views. |

refactor(ui): drop redundant Button variant="default" props (#50161)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Mechanical cleanup on top of the Button default-variant change (#50160). ## What is the current behavior? Many callsites still pass `variant="default"` even though that is now the component default. ## What is the new behavior? Removes redundant static `variant="default"` from legacy `Button` and `ButtonTooltip` callsites. Keeps explicit defaults where they document the API: - `button-default.tsx` and `button-sizes.tsx` demos - `DocsButton`, which pins neutral styling at the wrapper boundary ## To test Studio: - [Auth → Rate Limits](https://studio-staging-2s957kwc4-supabase.vercel.app/dashboard/project/_/auth/rate-limits): dirty the form so Cancel appears; Cancel stays neutral, Save stays green - [Project Settings → API Keys](https://studio-staging-2s957kwc4-supabase.vercel.app/dashboard/project/_/settings/api-keys): `DocsButton` in the header actions stays neutral Design system: - [Design system → Button](https://design-system-git-dnywh-dc924ac1-supabase.vercel.app/design-system/docs/components/button): `button-default` / `button-sizes` still show explicit default styling; Primary (green) is restricted to the Primary section (and `asChild`) WWW: - [www → Brand assets](https://zone-www-dot-com-git-dnywh-dc924ac1-supabase.vercel.app/brand-assets): Download logo kit / Download button kit stay neutral |

Update API types (#50234)
## Problem platform, v1 and v2 have been already completely migrated and introduced some changes. Some types have been renamed, some outputs and inputs updated. ## Solution - Update the API types - Fix the TS errors ## Update Taking this over to unblock #50134, which needs the new scoped token permission ids from the regenerated types. - Merged `master`. - Regenerated `api-v2.d.ts` from the production spec. The previous files came from a local API that exposed a webhook events endpoint production doesn't have yet. Production has since added standardized 400 error responses on the v2 organization endpoints. `api-v1.d.ts` and `platform.d.ts` already matched production. - Fixed `verify-production-types`. It formatted the regenerated files in a temp directory outside the repository, so Prettier fell back to its defaults and the comparison could never match the committed files. It now passes the repository config explicitly. `pnpm api:verify-types` passes on this branch. - Verified locally: `pnpm typecheck`, `pnpm api:verify-types`, Studio unit tests. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Preserved descriptions when saving, sharing, moving, or unsharing notebooks, reports, SQL snippets, and saved queries. * Improved handling of empty or null values across notebook descriptions, billing usage, pooler settings, and infrastructure fields. * Improved read-replica connection handling, including read-only connection strings. * Updated storage configuration and capability handling to match current settings. * **API and Compatibility** * Updated organization, project, storage, OAuth, billing, and infrastructure data handling to match current API responses. * OAuth app creation and updates now require scopes. --------- Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(ui): default Button variant to default instead of primary (#50160)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Bug fix / design-system alignment for the legacy `Button` from `ui`. ## What is the current behavior? Omitting `variant` on the legacy `Button` falls back to brand-green `primary`. That makes accidental greens easy, and it is hard to spot the real main action on busy pages. ## What is the new behavior? - Legacy `Button` now defaults to neutral `default` - Intentional primary CTAs (create, save, submit, marketing CTAs, and matching `ButtonTooltip` usages) now set `variant="primary"` so their appearance is unchanged - Neutral actions that previously relied on the old fallback (cancel, close, back, dashboard nav, and similar) become grey/white - Design-system docs updated; regression tests cover the new default `Button_Shadcn_` is unchanged. It already uses its own CVA default. This is PR 1 of 2 in a stack. PR 2 drops now-redundant `variant="default"` props. ## To test Studio (http://localhost:8082): - `/sign-in`: Sign in stays green - Open a project → Database → Tables: New table stays green - Auth → Users → Invite: Invite user stays green; Cancel / dismiss controls stay neutral - Project Settings → General: edit a field so Cancel and Save appear. Cancel is neutral, Save is green Design system (http://localhost:3003): - Components → Button: default demo is neutral; primary demo is green; featured preview is the default variant Marketing (optional): - www header: Start your project stays green; logged-in Dashboard is neutral ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Style** - Buttons now default to a neutral style, while primary actions across Studio, documentation, marketing pages, forms, dialogs, and error states use prominent primary styling. - Updated button examples and previews clarify the distinction between default and primary variants. - Event registration now includes a directional arrow icon. - **Tests** - Added coverage confirming default button styling and explicit primary styling behave as expected. - Updated related test fixtures to use primary styling where appropriate. |

chore(studio): remove dead code found by knip (#49719)
Removes Studio code that nothing imports, as reported by knip. First PR in a stack of three: this one is pure deletions, #49720 removes the unused dependencies, #49721 upgrades knip and adds the CI gate so this doesn't accumulate again. Every file was verified with a repo-wide grep for its basename, exported symbols, and string/dynamic imports before deletion — none are reachable via `next/dynamic`, a barrel file, or a config. **Removed:** - `Billing/Usage/UsageWarningAlerts/{CPU,RAM,DiskIOBandwidth}Warnings.tsx` (whole directory) - `DataWarehouse/FormFooterChangeBadge.tsx` (whole directory) - `Database/Replication/ReplicationDiagram/EmptyReplicationDiagram.tsx` - `Integrations/Vercel/OrganizationPicker.tsx` - `QueryInsights/QueryInsightsTable/QueryInsightsTableRow.tsx` - `hooks/misc/useTrackExperimentExposure.ts` - `data/ai/{parse-client-code,sql-policy}-mutation.ts`, `data/misc/parse-query-mutation.ts`, `data/database/table-check-rls-mutation.ts` - `data/notifications/notifications-v2-{archive-all-mutation,summary-query}.ts` + their two now-unused keys in `notifications/keys.ts` (`listV2` kept) - `data/platform-apps/platform-app-{update,signing-key-delete}-mutation.ts` - `DateTimeFormats.DATE_ONLY` and the unused `Notebooks.{MarkdownCell,LogCell,ChartConfig}` types **Changed:** - `ReportPadding` no longer has a duplicate default export; its 9 default importers (observability pages) now use the named export Not removed: `CONSTRAINT_TYPE`'s unused members mirror the closed set of `pg_constraint.contype` values, so they're documentation rather than dead code — suppressed narrowly in #49721's knip config instead. ## To test - `pnpm --filter studio run typecheck` and `lint:ratchet` pass - Observability pages (`/project/[ref]/observability/*`) still render with padding — they're the only code touched, via the `ReportPadding` import change - Notifications popover still loads and marks-as-read (the removed keys weren't used for invalidation) ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Removed Features** - Removed CPU, memory, and disk usage warning alerts. - Removed the Vercel organization picker and empty replication diagram. - Removed query insights row actions and several SQL assistance tools. - Removed notification summary and archive-all capabilities. - Removed platform app update and signing-key deletion actions. - Removed the form change-count badge and experiment exposure tracking. - **Refactor** - Updated observability reports to use the revised report layout export. Co-authored-by: Alaister Young <10985857+alaister@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(studio): wrap assistant Edge Function approval in a Confirm card (#49168)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature / UI refactor. ## What is the current behavior? Assistant Edge Function approval nests `ConfirmFooter` under the function block. `addToolApprovalResponse` is wired whenever state is `approval-requested`, including automatic approvals. ## What is the new behavior? Introduces a `Confirm` card that owns the frame, with the footer attached below the body. Edge Function approval uses that card. Interactive Approve/Deny only runs for manual `approval-requested` parts (`!approval.isAutomatic`), matching the [AI SDK tool-approvals `useChat` guidelines](https://ai-sdk.dev/docs/agents/tool-approvals). SQL still uses `DisplayBlockRenderer` until #49170. `ConfirmFooter` is inlined into `Confirm` so SQL can keep importing the named footer until that PR. ## Additional context Part of stack #49171. Base: `chore/ai-sdk-7` (#49167). Notebook proposal Confirm wrapping is **not** in this stack — that file lives on [#49159](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/49159). Follow up after that stack merges. ## Test plan - [ ] Deploy-edge-function tool part shows Confirm with Skip / Deploy - [ ] Existing-function replace warning still requires the second confirm - [ ] After approve, footer morphs to loading and buttons disable - [ ] `Confirm.utils.test.ts` and `EdgeFunctionRenderer.test.tsx` pass ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added confirmation cards for AI-assisted actions, including approve and cancel controls. * Improved handling of manual approval requests for SQL execution, notebook changes, and Edge Function deployment. * Added support for customizing report and Edge Function block styling. * **Bug Fixes** * Automatic approvals no longer appear as pending manual confirmations. * Skipped SQL actions now provide clearer messaging. * **Tests** * Expanded coverage for approval states, confirmation controls, and automatic decisions. --------- Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Joshenlim/fe 4157 explorer migrate results component into explorer (#49066)
## Context Related to Notebooks/Explorers - this one's just shifting files from the SQLEditor into more generic folders from a file organization POV, such that files under the Explorer folder have no dependency on files within the SQLEditor folder Mainly - UtilityTabResults.utils: `getSqlErrorLines` - Moved into `data/sql/utils.ts` - SQLEditor.utils: `applyAutoLimit`, `getSqlErrorLines`, `trimTrailingSemicolons` - Moved into `data/sql/utils.ts` - SQLEditor/UtilityPanel: `ResultCell`, `Results`, `CellDetailPanel` - Moved into `components/ui/DataGridResults` - Also shifted corresponding tests over here - Also addressed some `any` type casts ## To test - Just need to ensure that the SQL Editor still works as expected ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Standardized query results across the Studio with a shared data grid. * Improved result-table formatting, column sizing, clipboard handling, and large-value display. * Added safer automatic row limits for eligible SQL queries. * Centralized SQL error display and formatting utilities. * **Refactor** * Improved type safety for query rows and cell values. * **Tests** * Added comprehensive coverage for result-grid and SQL utility behavior. |

feat(studio): notebook content at the API boundary (#48815)
## Summary Stacked on #48813 (1.2: notebook content schema). Part of [FE-4109](https://linear.app/supabase/issue/FE-4109/notebooks-data-model) — see that issue for the rest of the notebooks data-model stack. - Teach `content-remap.ts`'s wire↔domain dispatcher about the `notebook` content type, branding each cell's `sql` per `_tag` via the notebook schemas added in 1.2 (parses through `notebookDomainSchema` on the way in, unbrands per cell on the way out). - Add `{ type: 'notebook'; content: Notebooks.Content }` to the `Content` union in `content-query.ts`, plus a `ContentOfType<T>` helper for narrowing it. - Fix the resulting narrowing fallout at call sites that assumed `Content` only ever meant `sql`/`report`/`log_sql`: two generated-query-param casts, and four report/logs call sites now narrowed via `ContentOfType<'report'>` / `ContentOfType<'log_sql'>`. ## Test plan - [x] `pnpm --filter studio vitest run data/content/` — 35 tests pass, including new notebook coverage in `content-remap.test.ts` (per-cell brand separation, missing-field throw, remap↔unmap round-trip) - [x] `pnpm typecheck` — clean (pre-existing unrelated `ui-patterns` error aside) - [x] `pnpm --filter studio lint` — no new warnings/errors on changed files - [x] `pnpm format` — clean --------- Co-authored-by: Joshen Lim <joshenlimek@gmail.com> |

feat(studio): assistant logs context and reports guard (#48514)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Feature — final PR (9/9) of the SQL editor logs-source stack. **Base branch:** `charislam/sql-editor-inline-ai-clickhouse-dialect` (PR 8). Nothing here is user-visible: entry points stay behind `sqlEditorLogsSource` + `otelLegacyLogs`, and flag rollout happens after the whole stack merges. ## What is the current behavior? - The Assistant has no idea a SQL editor snippet targets the logs backend. Ask it about a logs snippet and it answers in Postgres, because the attached query is fenced as ` ```sql ` and nothing tells the model otherwise. - Because the `sql` fence is what `MessageMarkdown` treats as runnable Postgres, an attached ClickHouse query is rendered with a Run-against-Postgres affordance and branded with `untrustedSql`. - "Debug with Assistant" on a failed logs query produces a dialect-less prompt, so both the in-app assistant and the copyable version get debugged as Postgres. - A report referencing a `log_sql` snippet runs its ClickHouse SQL against the user's Postgres database and surfaces the resulting error. ## What is the new behavior? **Assistant panel.** The "Current Query" chip records which backend the attached query targets. That reaches the model two ways: each attachment is fenced with its own dialect (` ```clickhouse ` vs ` ```sql `), and a `containsLogsSnippets` flag rides on the user message as AI SDK `metadata`. The server reads the flag off the conversation and prepends the ClickHouse dialect rules plus the logs schema reference as a non-cached context message. Two design points worth calling out in review: - The flag lives on the **message**, not the request body, so Retry and the tool-approval continuation reproduce the context a message was originally asked in — neither of those passes a per-call body. - It's derived from **what's actually attached**, so detaching the chip drops the claim rather than leaving the two able to disagree. The `clickhouse` fence also keeps a logs query out of `MessageMarkdown`'s `sql` branch, so it's no longer offered as runnable Postgres or branded with `untrustedSql` — a boundary this stack's distinct brands exist to prevent crossing. **Debug flow.** `buildDebugChatArgs` attaches its query with a source for the same reason, and names the dialect in the prompt text so the copyable version stands on its own outside the app. **Reports.** A report only stores a snippet id, so whether it queries the logs backend is only knowable once the content loads. `ReportBlock` guards on the fetched type and renders a `LogsSnippetReportBlock` placeholder instead of executing. Double-guarded: no `sql` for a logs snippet (so it's out of the query key and `queryFn` short-circuits even on an explicit `refetch`) and `enabled` excludes it. **Incidental cleanups.** `buildAssistantContextMessages` extracted out of `generate-assistant-response`; a schema-access sentinel that was duplicated as a string literal across two files (and compared against) replaced with one exported constant; `SqlSnippet` deduplicated to a single declaration; `resolveSnippetSource` / `isLogsSource` shared instead of re-implemented per surface. **Tests.** 4 new/extended suites. Notable cases pinned: a message with no metadata must validate (`safeValidateUIMessages` applies `metadataSchema` to *every* message, so a required schema would 400 every existing conversation); only *user* messages count, so a model reply can't talk the server into a different dialect; a mixed-attachment message is flagged without overclaiming a single source; and `ReportBlock` registers no pg-meta mock for the logs cases, so an unhandled request failing the test *is* the assertion that logs SQL never reaches Postgres. Verified: `pnpm typecheck`, `lint:ratchet` (no regression), Prettier, and the full Studio suite (459 files / 4969 tests). ## Additional context ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **New Features** - Added support for recognizing log snippets in reports, with clear guidance to open them in the SQL editor or remove them. - AI Assistant now understands log snippets and provides ClickHouse-specific context, formatting, and troubleshooting guidance. - Snippets retain their source information when shared with the AI Assistant. - **Bug Fixes** - Prevented unsupported log snippets from being executed as regular database queries. - Improved source detection when opening snippets directly from links. |

fix(studio): standardise custom icon weight (#48478)
## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Bug fix and internal tooling update. Resolves FE-3472. ## What is the current behavior? Custom Studio icons use inconsistent source stroke widths, and some child-level styling prevents component props from overriding them. Mixed custom and Lucide icon sets can therefore appear uneven. ## What is the new behavior? Custom stroke icons use a root-level `stroke-width="1.5"`; fill-only logos use `stroke="none"`. The build validates that contract and regenerated components preserve existing exports and props. Studio applies the same `1.5` weight across Reports categories and uses one shared destination icon mapping in the replication selector, destination rows and diagram. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | | | | | | ## Testing At 100% zoom, compare custom and Lucide icon weight in: - Reports: **Add your first chart** and **Add block** - Database > Replication: the destination selector, destination rows and replication diagram - Command menu (`⌘K`): **Search Database Tables**, **Search RLS Policies**, **Search Edge Functions** and **Search Storage** - Authentication > Users: right-click a user row and compare the context-menu icons - Database > Schema Visualizer: open a table node overflow menu - A paused project: **Export your data > Download backups** ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Added consistent destination icons across replication panels, rows, and diagrams. * Updated instance health and metric icons for clearer identification. * Standardized icon stroke weight and reduced default icon stroke thickness. * **Documentation** * Clarified custom icon requirements, default properties, and validation guidance. * **Bug Fixes** * Improved consistency of icon rendering across replication destinations and reports. * **Tests** * Added coverage for icon SVG validation and replication destination icon rendering. |

Chore/add sessions database connections (#48094)
## Context Initial work for Top for Postgres - adds a "Sessions" section under a new Observability segment "Database Connections" NOTE: All the copywriting and naming might change - not sure what's an ideal title for this We'll also be iteratively building on top of this UI, adding more actionable signals instead of just information Changes are featured flagged, off for public - This would essentially replace the "View ongoing queries" in the SQL Editor by providing a dedicated UI - It checks against `pg_stat_activity` as per the ongoing queries UI - We'll also subsequently deprecate the "Ongoing queries" UI in the SQL editor - Defaults into a "live mode" where the data is refreshed every 3 seconds via long-polling - Supports filtering by state - Users can also terminate queries through here ## Summary by CodeRabbit # Release Notes * **New Features** * Added an Observability **Database Connections** page with a live **Sessions** activity table (state/roles filtering, blocked-by details, session duration, and per-session termination with confirmation). * Included a **Live/Pause** toggle to control automatic refresh (~3 seconds). * **Enhancements** * Improved Reports selection filtering: supports optional option quantities, better popover styling, sorted apply behavior, and shows quantity inline. * Query performance duration formatting now supports configurable decimal precision. * Tooltips can now render richer content (string or React node). |

refactor(sql-editor): extract title-gen/execute-params + merge auto-limit functions (#48013)
## Summary Part 2/6 of the SQL Editor testability follow-up, stacked on #47980 (the analyzeQueryIssues/resolveConnectionString PR). - Extracts `shouldAutoGenerateTitle` and `buildExecuteParams` out of `useSqlEditorExecution`'s inline logic into `SQLEditor.utils.ts`. - Merges `checkIfAppendLimitRequired` and `suffixWithLimit` into a single `applyAutoLimit` function — the two were only ever called together and re-parsed the same query twice at every call site. `applyAutoLimit` only accepts `SafeSqlFragment` (never a plain string) and composes the `LIMIT` suffix through `safeSql`/`literal` rather than raw template concatenation, so the only place in the file that reasserts the `SafeSqlFragment` brand on a derived string is the small, dedicated `trimTrailingSemicolons` helper — removing existing terminators can't introduce unsafe content, unlike gluing new text onto the fragment. - Updates the two other `checkIfAppendLimitRequired`/`suffixWithLimit` call sites (`EditorPanel.tsx`, `ReportBlock.tsx`) accordingly; `ReportBlock` now promotes its report SQL once and reuses the result for both its display-only auto-limit hint and its execution, instead of promoting twice. ## Test plan - [x] `pnpm --filter studio typecheck` - [x] `pnpm test:studio -- SQLEditor ReportBlock EditorPanel` (239 tests passing) |

Joshen/fe 3624 queryblock causes client side crash if rendering many rows (#47021)
## Context Having a custom report block on the project home page with a SQL that returns a large set of results (e.g > 100k rows) causes a client side crash with "Maximum call stack size exceeded" This is happening due to an array spread in `computeYAxisWidth` in `Math.max` - which am hence opting to use a `reduce` instead to mitigate the problem. Am also opting to apply the same autolimit logic in the SQL editor into the `QueryBlock` here, so that we don't unnecessarily fetch a large dataset in this UI. Added a UI indicator as well if auto limit has been applied (So this also overlaps into dashboard scalability too) ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Report query blocks now feature automatic SQL limiting functionality, which restricts query results to a maximum of 100 rows when enabled * When active, query result blocks display an informational notice to users, clearly indicating the row restriction that has been applied |

chore: refactor Button API so that it can be used a standard button (#46880)

It is still directionally aware, just relative to the page viewport as opposed to bounding box. | Before | After | |--------|--------| | | | If you want to test quickly but have no data, you can ask Claude to generate you a dummy custom report chart and then move it around, test the long tooltips. ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Tooltips can now render in a dedicated layer to improve visibility and avoid clipping. * Option added to enable portal-rendered tooltips in condensed/snippet views. * **Bug Fixes** * Improved tooltip positioning to prevent overflow outside the viewport. * Corrected percentage label suffixes in chart tooltips. |

fix(reports): guard against malformed URI in route renderer (#46729)
## Problem The PostgREST observability page crashes for some projects with `URIError: URI malformed`. The route renderer calls `decodeURIComponent` directly on the request query string, which is user-controlled. A malformed percent-sequence (for example a literal `%` in `?discount=100%`) makes `decodeURIComponent` throw during render, taking down the whole page via the global error boundary. Tracked in Sentry issue 7536581822. ## Fix Add a `safeDecodeURIComponent` helper that wraps `decodeURIComponent` in a try/catch and falls back to the raw string on failure. Use it in the route renderer. The sibling `queryParamsToObject` call is unaffected since `URLSearchParams` already tolerates malformed escapes. ## How to test - Open a project's PostgREST observability report (`/project/[ref]/observability/postgrest`). - Ensure a request with a malformed query string (e.g. a path containing a bare `%`) appears in the data. - Expected result: the row renders with the raw search string instead of crashing the page. - Unit tests for `safeDecodeURIComponent` cover valid decode, malformed input, and empty string. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor(logs): rename Reports logs sql field to safeSql (#46469)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Refactor (naming consistency cleanup). ## What is the current behavior? `ReportQueryLogs` exposed its SQL builder under a `sql:` field while `ReportQueryDb` used `safeSql:`. Both already returned branded fragments (`SafeLogSqlFragment` / `SafeSqlFragment`), so should consolidate on `safeSql`. ## What is the new behavior? Renames `sql:` → `safeSql:` on `ReportQueryLogs` so the two report-query shapes use the same field name. Updates every Logs preset under `PRESET_CONFIG[API|STORAGE]`, every entry and call site in `SharedAPIReport.constants.ts`, and `getLogsSql` in `Reports.utils.tsx`. Part of the analytics SQL safety series; PRs 10 (remaining analytics callers) and 11 (ESLint rules) still to follow. ## Additional context ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Refactor** * Enhanced query handling across API analytics reports (requests, top routes, errors, performance metrics) and Storage analytics reports (cache metrics) for improved consistency in query processing. [](https://app.coderabbit.ai/change-stack/supabase/supabase/pull/46469?utm_source=github_walkthrough&utm_medium=github&utm_campaign=change_stack) |

feat(logs): brand Observability/EdgeFunctions SQL with SafeLogSqlFragment (#8) (#46466)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Refactor / security hardening — continues the analytics SQL provenance-tracking series (PR 8). ## What is the current behavior? - `generateRegexpWhere` (unsafe: interpolates user-controlled filter keys/values without escaping) still exists alongside `generateRegexpWhereSafe` and its tests only cover the old function. - `usePostgrestOverviewMetrics` builds a SQL query string with plain string interpolation and calls the analytics endpoint directly via `get()`. - `edge-functions-last-hour-stats-query` builds a SQL query with `functionIds` escaped via Postgres-only `quoteLiteral` and calls the analytics endpoint directly via `post()`. - `executeAnalyticsSql` has no way to pass a `key` query-string param for network-tool identification. - `rawSql('minute')` / `rawSql('hour')` / `rawSql('day')` and `rawSql(value ? 'true' : 'false')` are used for static strings that could be expressed with the `safeSql` template tag. ## What is the new behavior? - `generateRegexpWhere` is deleted; its tests are replaced with `generateRegexpWhereSafe` coverage including injection-attempt cases (`level OR id IS NOT NULL`, `request.method); DROP TABLE edge_logs; --`) that verify predicates are silently dropped rather than emitted. - `usePostgrestOverviewMetrics` returns `SafeLogSqlFragment` from its SQL builder and routes through `executeAnalyticsSql`. - `edge-functions-last-hour-stats-query` uses `analyticsLiteral` (BigQuery/ClickHouse-correct escaping) instead of `quoteLiteral` (Postgres-only) and routes through `executeAnalyticsSql`. - `executeAnalyticsSql` accepts an optional `key?: string` forwarded as a query-string param on both GET and POST requests; `key: 'last-hour-stats'` is restored on the edge-functions query. - Static `rawSql('...')` calls replaced with `safeSql\`...\`` template literals throughout. ## Additional context ## Summary by CodeRabbit ## Bug Fixes - Removed legacy unsafe SQL-filter utility from Reports ## Chores - Enhanced analytics SQL execution infrastructure with improved error handling - Added optional request identification parameter to analytics query execution - Refined SQL filtering mechanisms in reporting features [](https://app.coderabbit.ai/change-stack/supabase/supabase/pull/46466?utm_source=github_walkthrough&utm_medium=github&utm_campaign=change_stack) |

feat(logs): brand SharedAPIReport SQL with SafeLogSqlFragment (#46405)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Security / refactor — migrates `SharedAPIReport.constants.ts` to the proven-authorship model (`SafeLogSqlFragment`). ## What is the current behavior? All seven SQL builders in `SHARED_API_REPORT_SQL` return plain `string` and interpolate filter values via `generateRegexpWhere`, which performs manual quoting without sanitization. The source table name (`edge_logs` / `function_edge_logs`) is also interpolated as a raw string. Queries are executed via a local `fetchLogs` function that calls `get()` directly, bypassing the `executeAnalyticsSql` wire boundary. ## What is the new behavior? - Each SQL builder is rewritten with the `safeLogSql` template tag and returns `SafeLogSqlFragment`. - Filter keys route through `quotedIdent` (predicates with invalid identifiers are dropped); values route through `analyticsLiteral` (single quotes and backslashes are escaped). - A `SOURCE_TABLE` branded map covers the two possible source tables; `sourceTable()` looks up the branded fragment instead of interpolating a raw string. - `fetchLogs` is removed; `useQueries` calls `executeAnalyticsSql` directly with `method: 'get'`, routing through the shared wire boundary. - The `queryFn` wraps the call in a try/catch that also checks `data?.error`, preserving the original Sentry capture behaviour (`'Shared API Report Error'`) for both network and API-level errors. ## Additional context |

feat(logs): brand Reports logs presets with SafeLogSqlFragment (#46403)
## I have read the [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) file. YES ## What kind of change does this PR introduce? Refactor / security hardening (part of a stacked series applying compile-time SQL provenance tracking to analytics call sites). ## What is the current behavior? The `queryType: 'logs'` presets in `PRESET_CONFIG` (API ×8, Storage ×2) build BigQuery SQL by splicing filter keys and values via plain string interpolation through `generateRegexpWhere`, with no compile-time guarantee that the output is injection-safe. `ReportQueryLogs.sql` returns `string` and `getLogsSql` returns `string`. ## What is the new behavior? - `generateRegexpWhereSafe` added to `Reports.constants.ts`: routes filter keys through `quotedIdent` (dropping predicates whose identifier fails the `[A-Za-z_][A-Za-z0-9_]*` regex) and values through `analyticsLiteral`. Values must be raw/unquoted — the function handles all quoting and escaping itself. - All ten `queryType: 'logs'` presets migrated to use the `safeLogSql` template tag and `generateRegexpWhereSafe`. - `ReportQueryLogs.sql` return type tightened from `string` to `SafeLogSqlFragment`; `getLogsSql` return type updated to match. - Manual pre-quoting of the `identifier` filter removed in `useApiReport` and `useStorageReport` (`value: \`'${identifier}'\`` → `value: identifier`), since `analyticsLiteral` now handles quoting. ## Additional context Smoke test: `/observability/api-overview`, `/observability/storage`. To exercise the replica `identifier` filter, select a replica on `/observability/database` first, then navigate to those pages. |

refactor(studio): migrate telemetry to useTrack (#46140)
## Summary
I migrated every `useSendEventMutation` call site in `apps/studio` to
`useTrack`, deleted the legacy hook, and added a lint guardrail so it
can't return. `useTrack` is the type-safe replacement: it auto-injects
`groups: { project, organization }` from the selected project/org and
types `action` + `properties` against `TelemetryEvent`. Existing call
sites built groups manually and were not type-checked at the action
level. The migration covers 81 files (60 trivial swaps, 9 org-only, 3
pre-auth, 5 bespoke, 4 test mocks).
## Changes
- Migrated trivial call sites across `pages/project/[ref]`,
`components/interfaces/*` (Reports, Storage, Realtime/Inspector,
SQLEditor, Functions, EdgeFunctions, Integrations, ProjectAPIDocs,
Branching/BranchManagement, TableGridEditor, Connect, Docs, Auth,
Support, Home, ProjectHome, App), `components/layouts/*`, and
`components/ui/*`.
- Migrated org-only sites (`Organization/Documents/*`,
`Organization/BillingSettings/Subscription/*`,
`Organization/SecuritySettings.tsx`,
`Account/Preferences/DashboardSettingsToggles.tsx`) by dropping the
manual `groups: { organization: ... }` and letting `useTrack`
auto-inject. Verified `useSelectedProjectQuery` is disabled on org
routes (gates on URL `[ref]`).
- Migrated pre-auth sites (`SignInForm.tsx`, `sign-in-mfa.tsx`,
`profile.tsx`) where neither project nor org is resolved.
- Bespoke handling:
- `execute-sql-mutation.ts` and `table-row-create-mutation.ts`: pass `{
project: projectRef }` via `groupOverrides` since the mutation can
target a non-selected project ref.
- `useStudioCommandMenuTelemetry.ts`: kept a direct `sendTelemetryEvent`
call because studio groups must override pre-built event groups
(opposite of `useTrack`'s override direction).
- `AIAssistantOption.tsx`: passes sentinel-aware `groupOverrides` so
`NO_PROJECT_MARKER`/`NO_ORG_MARKER` continue to suppress group emission.
- `SidePanelEditor.utils.tsx`: utility functions `createTable` and
`updateTable` now take a `track: Track` parameter (threaded from
`SidePanelEditor.tsx`); dropped the `organizationSlug` arg since groups
are no longer assembled manually.
- Branch-event attribution: preserved `parentProjectRef` overrides on
`branch_updated`, `branch_merge_completed`, `branch_merge_failed`,
`branch_merge_submitted`, `branch_delete_button_clicked`,
`branch_review_with_assistant_clicked`, and
`branch_*_merge_request_button_clicked`. Original code grouped these
under the parent (production) project, not the branch ref;
auto-injection would have shifted them onto the branch.
- Switched 4 test mocks from `@/data/telemetry/send-event-mutation` to
`@/lib/telemetry/track`. Removed obsolete tests around manual groups and
`try/catch` on telemetry rejection.
- Deleted `apps/studio/data/telemetry/send-event-mutation.ts`. The
deleted module is its own guardrail: any reintroduction of the import
fails at TypeScript module resolution before lint runs.
## Testing
Tested on preview deploy:
- [x] SQL editor `CREATE TABLE` fires `table_created` with method
`sql_editor` and `groups.project` set to the mutation's `projectRef`.
- [x] Table editor creates a table from the side panel; `table_created`
fires from `SidePanelEditor.utils` via threaded `track`.
- [x] Help button (`/project/[ref]/...`) fires `help_button_clicked`
with auto-injected project + org groups.
- [x] Sign-in form fires `sign_in` with empty groups (pre-auth,
expected).
- [x] Org documents page (`/org/[slug]/documents`) fires
`document_view_button_clicked` with org group only, no stale project
ref.
- [x] Command menu (`Cmd+K`) inside a project still fires
`command_menu_opened` with studio's project/org overriding any
event-supplied groups.
- [x] Support form "Ask the Assistant" without selected org fires
`ai_assistant_in_support_form_clicked` with no project/org groups
(sentinels suppress).
- [x] On a branch, "Update branch" / "Merge branch" / "Close merge
request" events fire with `groups.project` set to the parent project
ref, not the branch ref.
Local checks:
- [x] 22/22 tests pass across the 4 updated test files
(`SidePanelEditor.utils.createTable`, `EdgeFunctionRenderer`,
`LayoutSidebar`, `PlanUpdateSidePanel`).
- [x] `rg useSendEventMutation apps/studio` returns 0 hits.

fix(studio): hide disk IO burst balance charts on 4XL+ compute (#46327)
## Problem On 4XL and larger compute sizes, Supabase disk IO is sustained rather than burst-budget based. Baseline equals max, so there is no extra burst balance to track (the instance can still be throttled if it hits its configured IOPS or throughput limit, but that is unrelated to a burst credit pool). The "Disk IO Burst Balance" / "Disk IO % Remaining" / "Disk IO % Consumed" charts in custom reports are therefore meaningless on 4XL+, yet they are currently still offered in the picker and rendered as empty/misleading charts. Custom reports persist their layout, so a report created when a project was on a smaller compute and later upgraded to 4XL+ can still contain a saved burst chart that we need to handle gracefully. ## Fix - Add a shared \`hasBurstableIO(infra_compute_size)\` helper in \`DiskManagement.utils.ts\` (replaces the local \`BURSTABLE_IO_VARIANTS\` set previously defined inline in \`database-charts.ts\`). - Filter \`disk_io_budget\` and \`disk_io_consumption\` out of the custom report chart picker (\`MetricOptions\`) when the project is on a non-burstable compute size. - In \`ReportBlock\`, detect saved burst charts on a 4XL+ project and render a new \`UnavailableChartBlock\` that explains the chart no longer applies and can be removed. - The database observability burst balance chart already gated on \`hasBurstableIO\`; updated to use the shared helper. - Infrastructure activity page already has equivalent handling via the dedicated-IO admonition, so no change needed there. Linear: FDBKPRI-1404 ## Test plan - [ ] On a project below 4XL, the custom report picker still lists "Disk IO % Remaining" and "Disk IO % Consumed", and they render normally - [ ] On a 4XL+ project, neither metric appears in the picker - [ ] Open an existing custom report that contains a saved burst balance chart on a 4XL+ project, and confirm the placeholder block renders with a clear explanation and a remove action - [ ] Database observability page on 4XL+: the burst balance chart remains hidden, all other charts render ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Disk IO metrics are now filtered based on your project’s compute size so only relevant charts appear. * Metrics tied to burstable IO are hidden when the current instance does not support burstable IO; deprecated metrics remain excluded. * When a disk IO chart isn’t available for your instance, the UI shows an explanatory unavailable-chart block with text about burst-balance limits for very large instances and optional actions to remove the unavailable chart. [](https://app.coderabbit.ai/change-stack/supabase/supabase/pull/46327?utm_source=github_walkthrough&utm_medium=github&utm_campaign=change_stack) |

studio: SafeSql for reports, query performance, privileges (4/7) (#45998)
## Summary Part 4 of the SafeSql migration stack ([#45897](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/45897), [#45903](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/45903), [#45990](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/45990), this PR, …).
