<h2>v6.1.1</h2>
<blockquote>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> 6.1.0 was skipped due to a CI issue. Use
<strong>6.1.1</strong>.</p>
</blockquote>
<h3>Experimental <code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> for pytest-xdist</h3>
<p><code>--snapshot-update</code> under pytest-xdist can race when
multiple workers rewrite the same multi-entry amber (<code>.ambr</code>)
file, silently dropping snapshots (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/issues/1237">#1237</a>).</p>
<p>This release adds an <strong>experimental</strong> opt-in:</p>
<ul>
<li><code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> — exclusive file lock + atomic
replace around amber writes</li>
<li><code>--snapshot-file-lock-timeout</code> — max wait for the lock
(default <strong>60s</strong>)</li>
</ul>
<p>Same-machine workers only; not reliable across remote workers / NFS.
See <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/pull/1239">#1239</a>.</p>
<blockquote>
<p><strong>Callout for pytest-xdist users:</strong> please try
<code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> with <code>--snapshot-update</code>
and <a href="https://github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/issues">open an
issue</a> if you hit problems. Locking is expected to become the default
in a future minor release.</p>

Updates `syrupy` from 6.0.0 to 6.1.1
<details>
<summary>Release notes</summary>
<p><em>Sourced from <a
href="https://github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/releases">syrupy's
releases</a>.</em></p>
<blockquote>
<h2>v6.1.1</h2>
<blockquote>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> 6.1.0 was skipped due to a CI issue. Use
<strong>6.1.1</strong>.</p>
</blockquote>
<h3>Experimental <code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> for pytest-xdist</h3>
<p><code>--snapshot-update</code> under pytest-xdist can race when
multiple workers rewrite the same multi-entry amber (<code>.ambr</code>)
file, silently dropping snapshots (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/issues/1237">#1237</a>).</p>
<p>This release adds an <strong>experimental</strong> opt-in:</p>
<ul>
<li><code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> — exclusive file lock + atomic
replace around amber writes</li>
<li><code>--snapshot-file-lock-timeout</code> — max wait for the lock
(default <strong>60s</strong>)</li>
</ul>
<p>Same-machine workers only; not reliable across remote workers / NFS.
See <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/pull/1239">#1239</a>.</p>
<blockquote>
<p><strong>Callout for pytest-xdist users:</strong> please try
<code>--snapshot-file-lock</code> with <code>--snapshot-update</code>
and <a href="https://github.com/syrupy-project/syrupy/issues">open an
issue</a> if you hit problems. Locking is expected to become the default
in a future minor release.</p>

Hunter Lovell a0accd6b53 chore(ci): add typesafe env var to release script langchain-typesafe==0.0.1a1 2026-09-17 10:51:26 -07:00
Hunter Lovell d1fee60ef2 feat(typesafe): TypeSafeClassifier (#40542)
Adds a first-party `langchain-typesafe` partner package for making
structured decisions using the new and shiny `jev` model. It introduces
a new `TypeSafeClassifier` runnable while using the typesafe wire
protocol, message normalization, response parsing, and provider failures
behind a standard LangChain interface.

- Supports TypeSafe's `Choice`, `Noul`, and `Score` primitives with
typed answers, probabilities, confidence, usage metadata, and request
IDs.
- Resolves credentials and API configuration from explicit arguments or
`TYPESAFE_API_KEY` and `TYPESAFE_BASE_URL`.
- Supports injected `httpx2.Client` and `httpx2.AsyncClient` instances
for custom transports, proxies, test fixtures, and shared connection
pools (matching patterns of other provider packages in this repo)

---

There were a couple of rapid fire design decisions that I'll document
here to aid in review:

### Extending base `Runnable`

This is largely the impetus for this PR; we can use typesafe's native
python client, but we lose tracing if it isn't captured through the
runnable interface. I imagine because this is a different model we want
to attribute its costs and things in tracing (at a later point in time)

### Direct `httpx2` integration

This package implements the System One `POST /v1/systemone` contract
directly rather than wrapping `typesafe-sdk` (the status quo of other
integrations in langchain). This keeps the integration's public types
and behavior native, avoids adding a transitive dependency, and gives us
lower level controls which is harder to do when indirecting through
someone elses client.

Aspirationally this is a direction we've wanted to work towards for
integrations generally:
* The benefit of wrapping an external sdk is that we can stay tied to
the supply-chain of a package thats maintained first party (we don't
need to maintain types, the transitive dependency keeps capabilities up
to date, etc.)
* This was in a time when maintainer attention was limited, and the
focus wasn't on nitty gritty implementation details with a provider
* ^Agents are probably good enough to start shouldering most of the
burden we've encountered in the past
* There's an indirection tax we have to pay when we shove the
responsibility onto a separate package- it makes us harder to design
single abstractions around

Because this is a 0-1 integration, my intention is to trial typesafes'
implementation under a "langchain maintained client" paradigm to see if
this is something that could work more generally

### State typing and message normalization

I had to bifurcate the input state types into `State` and `_StateValue`
representations mostly to respect TypeSafe API invariants: input must be
a string, object, or array. Its private recursive `_StateValue`
representation permits ordinary scalars by itself and through
dicts/sequences.

I'm also adding langchain `BaseMessage` objects and `BaseMessage`
sequences at any nesting level. This is because messages are the most
common unit of context within langchain, and translating between agent
context and classifier context is a very important part of us plugging
jev into the ecosystem. I'm imagining something like this:

```python
class ClassifierMiddleware(AgentMiddleware[AgentState, ContextT, ResponseT]):
    def after_model(self, state):
        result = TypeSafeClassifier(...).invoke(state.messages)
        # do something with results
```

This uses the `convert_to_openai_messages` utility exposed in core since
that is the most context friendly representation we have to pass
messages through to typesafe (which doesn't have any concept of an LLM
message)

### Typed request and response models

Question and answer models use Pydantic because they sit directly on
serialization and validation layers, and I was hoping to meet some of
the invariant criteria that the typesafe API has. Things like:

* request models requiring instructions for every question
* `Score` requiring at least two ordered levels
* rejecting empty model identifiers

Criteria remain JSON-capable rather than being narrowed to strings
because TypeSafe's advanced documentation supports structured
instructions and criteria, even though the compact HTTP reference
presents narrower examples.

(lmk if pydantic is defunct and we should pivot)

### Error handling infrastructure

I wanted to meet the same level of specification that the TypeSafe
Python SDK has with regards to how it represents errors. This package
exports a standard error reference (in `_client_utils.py`) that does
this while also inheriting from alngchains standard `Model*Error`
classes which we recently added. Callers can handle either
TypeSafe-specific metadata or provider-independent model failures.

The package mirrors the TypeSafe Python SDK's status, connection,
timeout, rate-limit, and response-validation exception names.
Status-specific provider errors also inherit from LangChain's standard
`Model*Error` classes, following the OpenAI integration pattern, so
callers can handle either TypeSafe-specific metadata or
provider-independent model failures.

API errors retain structured status, body, headers, request ID,
sanitized endpoint, response-validation field path, and rate-limit delay
metadata where applicable. TypeSafe's `529 Overloaded` response maps to
a retryable `ModelAPIError`, while `429` maps to `ModelRateLimitError`
and preserves `retry_after_ms`.

Automatic retry policy is intentionally outside the initial package
scope. The classified retryable errors and retry metadata provide the
foundation for a focused follow-up without coupling this integration to
a retry policy in its first release.

## Package infrastructure

- Introduces `langchain-typesafe` at version `0.0.1` with typed-package
markers, documentation, unit and integration-compilation coverage, and a
reproducible `uv` lockfile.
- Adds bounded `httpx2>=2.0.0,<3.0.0` and `langchain-core>=1.6.2,<2.0.0`
dependencies. The core minimum provides the standard `Model*Error`
hierarchy used by the provider exceptions.
- Registers the package with repository CI, release automation,
dependency updates, issue routing, and package labeling.

## Release note

Added the new `langchain-typesafe` integration package, including a
composable `TypeSafeClassifier` for typed classification, scoring, and
confidence-aware decisions with TypeSafe's Jev model.

---

This was developed with heavy assistance from Sol, earnestly reviewed by
me, and validated through similar CI patterns established in other
packages

package entry. `uv lock` resolved successfully; its unrelated workspace
dependency churn was intentionally excluded.

c01de7fed0 fix(langchain): preserve open MCP object arguments (#40414)
Some MCP servers expose a small set of gateway tools—such as list,
describe, and call—instead of one tool per operation. Their call tool
accepts a free-form object, but provider conversion can accidentally
turn that argument into an object that accepts no fields.

This change marks those direct free-form object arguments explicitly
with `additionalProperties: true`, so models can send operation-specific
keys through the gateway. It preserves constraints supplied by the MCP
server and does not mutate the original schema.

The normalization is intentionally narrow: it only examines direct tool
properties rather than recursively walking every JSON Schema keyword.

Six focused MCP schema tests pass; Ruff formatting/lint and mypy pass.
No new dependencies or public API changes.

wanhakim 443154df9d feat(huggingface): use torch.accelerator for device-agnostic device count detection (#39640)
Fixes #38855

`HuggingFacePipeline.from_model_id` previously counted available devices
with `torch.cuda.device_count()`, so users on non-CUDA accelerators
(e.g. Intel XPU) had their hardware go undetected and could not select
it via `device=`. This switches to the device-agnostic
`torch.accelerator.device_count()` API (added in PyTorch 2.6), falling
back to `torch.cuda.device_count()` on older PyTorch so existing CUDA
users are unaffected.

## Release note

`HuggingFacePipeline.from_model_id` now uses PyTorch's device-agnostic
`torch.accelerator` API to detect available accelerators, so non-CUDA
backends such as Intel XPU are recognized for device selection.
Environments on PyTorch older than 2.6 continue to use `torch.cuda`
unchanged.

---

Three new unit tests cover the change:

- `test_from_model_id_uses_torch_accelerator_device_count` — confirms
`torch.accelerator.device_count()` is called (and
`torch.cuda.device_count()` is not) when the API is present.
- `test_from_model_id_falls_back_to_torch_cuda_device_count` — confirms
`torch.cuda.device_count()` is called when `torch.accelerator` is absent
(pre-PyTorch 2.6 environments).
- `test_from_model_id_raises_for_out_of_range_device` — confirms a
`ValueError` is raised when `device` exceeds the accelerator device
count.

One new integration test guards end-to-end placement:

- `test_from_model_id_runs_on_accelerator` — loads a real model onto a
hardware accelerator (XPU/CUDA) and asserts the model's device type is
not CPU, so a silent CPU fallback can't produce a false-positive pass.
Skipped unless `HF_TEST_DEVICE=<index>` is set.

`make format`, `make lint`, and `make test` passing

wanhakim 3539ca08d9 fix(huggingface): remove retired IPEX backend (#39649)
Fixes #36765

Intel retired Intel Extension for PyTorch (IPEX) after upstreaming most
of its Intel-platform features and optimizations into PyTorch. Official
releases stopped after IPEX 2.8, the project was archived on March 30,
2026, and Intel now [recommends using PyTorch
directly](https://github.com/intel/intel-extension-for-pytorch#retirement-plan).

Hugging Face deprecated its IPEX integration in Optimum Intel v1.27.0
and [fully removed it in
v2.0.0](https://github.com/huggingface/optimum-intel/releases/tag/v2.0.0).
Consequently, the IPEX-specific classes imported by
`HuggingFaceEmbeddings` and `HuggingFacePipeline` are no longer
available in supported Optimum Intel releases. This removes those stale
code paths and their dependency detection while retaining the default
PyTorch and OpenVINO backends.

This is a breaking change for users who explicitly selected IPEX (via
`backend="ipex"` for `HuggingFacePipeline`, or `model_kwargs={"backend":
"ipex"}` for `HuggingFaceEmbeddings`); users should migrate to the
default PyTorch backend or OpenVINO.

## Release note

Removed the retired IPEX backend from `HuggingFaceEmbeddings` and
`HuggingFacePipeline`. Use PyTorch directly for upstreamed Intel
optimizations or use the OpenVINO backend for optimized inference on
Intel hardware.

---

Ran the following from `libs/partners/huggingface`:

- `make format`, `make lint`, and `make test` all pass.
- The IPEX removal touches both `HuggingFacePipeline` and
`HuggingFaceEmbeddings`, so both were exercised end to end on the
OpenVINO backend to confirm the remaining path still works. OpenVINO is
an optional dependency, so it was installed into the package's
environment first, and the available devices were listed before the run:

  ```bash
  uv pip install "optimum[openvino]"
  # List the devices OpenVINO can see:
uv run python -c "import openvino as ov;
print(ov.Core().available_devices)"
  # Run the script below from the package environment:
  uv run python openvino_backend_example.py
  ```

  `openvino_backend_example.py`:

  ```python
from langchain_huggingface import HuggingFaceEmbeddings,
HuggingFacePipeline
  DEVICE = "GPU.0"
  # Stage 1: HuggingFacePipeline (text generation)
  llm = HuggingFacePipeline.from_model_id(
      model_id="gpt2",
      task="text-generation",
      backend="openvino",
      model_kwargs={
          "export": True,
          "device": DEVICE,
      },
      pipeline_kwargs={"max_new_tokens": 32},
  )
  print("[pipeline]  ", llm.invoke("The capital of France is"))
  # Stage 2: HuggingFaceEmbeddings
  embeddings = HuggingFaceEmbeddings(
      model_name="sentence-transformers/all-MiniLM-L6-v2",
      model_kwargs={
          "backend": "openvino",
          "model_kwargs": {"device": DEVICE},
      },
  )
  vector = embeddings.embed_query("The capital of France is Paris.")
  print("[embeddings]", f"dim={len(vector)}", vector[:4])
  ```

Both stages run on the OpenVINO backend: the pipeline generates text and
the embeddings produce a 384-dimensional vector.

> [pipeline] The capital of France is home to some of the world's best
hotels, bars and restaurants. Today's hotel scene, which includes the
legendary Débar, is a popular destination for

> [embeddings] dim=384 [0.10315027832984924, 0.030387870967388153,
0.029067767783999443, -0.03727174550294876]

**The generated text from pipeline will vary between runs since `gpt2`
sampling is non-deterministic.

- `backend="ipex"` is the path whose behavior this PR changes, so it was
exercised end to end as well, to confirm that existing IPEX callers keep
working and are told what happened. No extra dependencies are needed
here — the point is that no IPEX package is installed:

  ```bash
  uv run python ipex_backend_example.py
  ```

  `ipex_backend_example.py`:

  ```python
from langchain_huggingface import HuggingFaceEmbeddings,
HuggingFacePipeline
  # Stage 1: HuggingFacePipeline (text generation)
  llm = HuggingFacePipeline.from_model_id(
      model_id="gpt2",
      task="text-generation",
      backend="ipex",
      pipeline_kwargs={"max_new_tokens": 32},
  )
  print("[pipeline]   model class:", type(llm.pipeline.model).__name__)
  print("[pipeline]  ", llm.invoke("The capital of France is"))
  # Stage 2: HuggingFaceEmbeddings
  embeddings = HuggingFaceEmbeddings(
      model_name="sentence-transformers/all-MiniLM-L6-v2",
      model_kwargs={"backend": "ipex"},
  )
  print("[embeddings] backend now:", embeddings.model_kwargs["backend"])
  vector = embeddings.embed_query("The capital of France is Paris.")
  print("[embeddings]", f"dim={len(vector)}", vector[:4])
  ```

Both stages warn once and then succeed on the default backend. Each
warning is attributed to the caller's own line rather than to a line
inside `langchain-huggingface`, so users see which of their calls needs
updating. `GPT2LMHeadModel` confirms the pipeline loaded a plain
`transformers` class rather than an IPEX one, and `backend now: torch`
confirms the retired value was replaced before it reached
`sentence_transformers`, which accepts only `torch`, `onnx` and
`openvino`.

dependabot[bot] 1c40140b3d chore(deps): bump httpx2 from 2.10.0 to 2.12.0 in /libs/partners/openai (#40309)
Bumps [httpx2](https://github.com/pydantic/httpx2) from 2.10.0 to
2.12.0.
<details>
<summary>Release notes</summary>
<p><em>Sourced from <a
href="https://github.com/pydantic/httpx2/releases">httpx2's
releases</a>.</em></p>
<blockquote>
<h2>v2.12.0</h2>
<h2>Highlights</h2>
<h3>🛡️ Bounded response decompression</h3>
<p><code>httpx2</code> now decodes <code>gzip</code>,
<code>deflate</code>, Brotli, and Zstandard responses incrementally.
Each decode step emits at most 1 MiB, so streaming a highly compressed
response no longer requires materializing an entire inflated network
chunk in memory (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1126">pydantic/httpx2#1126</a>).</p>
<h3>📦 Shared Zstandard API</h3>
<p>Python 3.13 and earlier now use <code>backports.zstd</code>, which
provides the same bounded incremental decompression API as
<code>compression.zstd</code> on Python 3.14 and later (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1146">pydantic/httpx2#1146</a>).</p>
<h2>httpx2</h2>
<h3>Changed</h3>
<ul>
<li>Use <code>backports.zstd</code> for Zstandard decoding on Python
3.13 and earlier by <a
href="https://github.com/Kludex"><code>@Kludex</code></a> in <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1146">pydantic/httpx2#1146</a></li>
</ul>
<h3>Fixed</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bound peak memory while streaming compressed responses and close
response streams when decoding fails by <a
href="https://github.com/Kludex"><code>@Kludex</code></a> in <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1126">pydantic/httpx2#1126</a></li>
</ul>
<h2>httpcore2</h2>
<p>No changes since <code>2.11.0</code>. Version bumped to stay in
lockstep with <code>httpx2</code>.</p>
<p><strong>Full Changelog</strong>: <a
href="https://github.com/pydantic/httpx2/compare/v2.11.0...v2.12.0">https://github.com/pydantic/httpx2/compare/v2.11.0...v2.12.0</a></p>
<h2>v2.11.0</h2>
<h2>Highlights</h2>
<h3>🌐 Public origin API</h3>
<p><code>httpx2</code> now includes an immutable and hashable
<code>Origin</code> value object, available through
<code>URL.origin</code>. It provides normalized scheme, host, and
effective port comparisons without including URL paths, queries,
fragments, or credentials (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1134">pydantic/httpx2#1134</a>).</p>
<h3>🛠️ Request compatibility and validation</h3>
<ul>
<li>Explicit <code>Transfer-Encoding</code> headers now take precedence
over body-derived <code>Content-Length</code> headers (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1137">pydantic/httpx2#1137</a>).</li>
<li>Deprecated status code aliases are available again (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1135">pydantic/httpx2#1135</a>).</li>
<li>Multipart part headers are validated before serialization (<a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1142">pydantic/httpx2#1142</a>).</li>
</ul>
<h2>httpx2</h2>
<h3>Added</h3>
<ul>
<li>Add the public <code>Origin</code> value object and
<code>URL.origin</code> property by <a
href="https://github.com/Kludex"><code>@Kludex</code></a> in <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1134">pydantic/httpx2#1134</a></li>
</ul>
<h3>Changed</h3>
<ul>
<li>Require Brotli 1.2.0 or later for the <code>brotli</code> extra by
<a href="https://github.com/Kludex"><code>@Kludex</code></a> in <a
href="https://redirect.github.com/pydantic/httpx2/pull/1141">pydantic/httpx2#1141</a></li>

b34f5669de fix(openai): support Azure AD auth with OpenAI 3.8 (#40190)
Updates the locked OpenAI Python SDK resolution to 3.8.0 while
preserving the existing supported lower bound. It also keeps Azure AD
authentication compatible with SDK credential validation, including
async token providers.

GPT-6 Astra profile data will be supplied by the automated models.dev
refresh workflow.

## Release note

`AzureChatOpenAI`, Azure embeddings, and Azure completions support Azure
AD token providers with OpenAI Python SDK 3.8.0 without conflicting
API-key credentials.
